Si chiude una nuova stagione dei Campionati CIK-FIA, una stagione in cui il progresso e i miglioramenti non si sono fermati. Se lo scorso anno il debutto delle nuove categorie OK e OK Junior ha segnato un fondamentale rinnovamento tecnico, nel 2017 l’aggiornamento delle norme sportive ha portato nuovo impulso allo sport del karting. Anticipare l’accesso alle categorie internazionali si è rivelato un provvedimento che tanti piloti attendevano, come dimostra il successo che OK e OK Junior hanno registrato nel Campionato Mondiale ed Europeo: ridurre di un anno il limite di età è stato uno dei fattori che hanno contribuito a determinare l’alto livello di partecipazione rendendoci tutti fieri di questo successo.

I numeri delle partecipazioni registrati nel 2017, i più alti rilevati negli ultimi anni, dimostrano non solo la validità delle strategie adottate, ma fanno onore al lavoro comune che di stagione in stagione è stato svolto per rendere sempre più importante la disciplina del karting. Per questo ringrazio da parte della CIK-FIA Luca De Donno e WSK Promotion per l’ottimo lavoro svolto nell’intero arco di tempo del mandato, cinque anni di intensa e convinta promozione in favore dello sport del karting, realizzata con mentalità imprenditoriale, ma anche con cuore da appassionati.

Tutto questo rappresenta non un semplice risultato ma un’ulteriore motivazione per spingerci a ottenere di più, per migliorare ancora. Per confermare al karting il posto di primo livello che merita nel panorama mondiale del Motorsport.

A new season of the CIK-FIA Championships comes to an end, a season in which progress and improvements never stopped. If the new OK and OK-Junior debut marked a fundamental technical innovation last year, the updating of the sporting regulations in 2017, brought new impetus to the sport of karting. Anticipating the access to international categories proved to be a measure that many drivers were expecting, as demonstrated by the success that OK and OK-Junior achieved in the World and European Championships; reducing the age limit by one year was one of the factors that contributed to determine the high level of participation, making us all proud of this success.

The number of participations in 2017, the highest recorded in recent years, shows not only the validity of the strategies adopted, but also honours the work carried out season after season to make the sport of karting more and more important. On behalf of the CIK-FIA, I would like to congratulate on the excellent work that Luca De Donno and the WSK Promotion have performed throughout the mandate, five years of intense and convincing promotion in favour of the sport of karting, realised with an entrepreneurial attitude, but also with the heart of true enthusiasts.

All this is not just a result but a greater motivation to push us to achieve more, to further improve. To confirm the high level place that Karting deserves in the world of Motorsport.
