Nel sesto round dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth si arriva per la seconda volta sul circuito del Mugello con nuove carte in tavola. Il leader della classifica tricolore è sempre Marcus Armostrong, ma il suo inseguitore non è più Lorenzo Colombo, bensì Job Van Uitert: il pilota del team Jenzer Motorsport a Imola ha siglato un weekend praticamente perfetto, con un secondo posto e due vittorie, che lo proiettano in seconda posizione in classifica generale, e gli permettono di confermarsi come uno dei principali pretendenti al titolo. Con 192 punti, l’olandese si trova a 17 punti da Marcus Armstrong. Lorenzo Colombo, che a Imola ha raccolto due quinti e un decimo posto, scivola in terza posizione. Nel Rookie Trophy Leonardo Lorandi comanda con 353 punti sul brasiliano Enzo Fittipaldi che è a quota 221, e sull’argentino Giorgio Carrara a 187 punti.

Al primo appuntamento stagionale al Mugello avevano vinto Armstrong, Vips e Van Uitert. Ora, alla luce anche dei secondi test ufficiali, squadre e piloti si presentano al via con un maggior bagaglio di dati. E l’adrenalina cresce.

The sixth round of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth went back to Mugello for the second time, despite the different premises. Marcus Armstrong was the classification leader this time, as Lorenzo Colombo was no more the runner up and his place was taken by Job Van Uitert: the team Jenzer Motorsport’s driver had a virtually perfect weekend in Imola, taking a second place and two wins, that launched him to the second place of the classification and confirmed his role as one of the main title contenders. The Dutch had totaled 192 points up to that point, that was 17 short of Marcus Armstrong. Lorenzo Colombo, who scored two fifth and a tenth place in the previous round, had slipped down to the third place instead. In the Rookie Trophy, Leonardo Lorandi led the pack at 353 points, while the Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi was second at 221 and the Argentine Giorgio Carrara third at 187.

The first round of the season run in Mugello was won by Armstrong, Vips and Van Uitert. Teams and drivers had a lot more data collected in the second official test ahead of this second race in Mugello. Adrenaline grew in the title quest.

E’ CAMPIONE ROOKIE ARMSTRONG PULLING AWAY, LORANDI ROOKIE CHAMPION

Il venezuelano Fernandez e il neozelandese Armstrong sono gli autori delle pole di Gara1 e Gara-2 nel penultimo appuntamento della stagione. Nel primo turno di qualifiche Fernandez si è piazzato davanti a Armstrong, con Lorandi terzo davanti a Job Van Uitert. Nel secondo turno i protagonisti sono stati gli stessi, anche se in ordine diverso: alle spalle di Armstrong si è qualificato Van Uitert, con Lorandi terzo davanti a Fernandez.

In Gara-1 fin dal via è Marcus Armstrong a mettere in chiaro quali sono i suoi intendimenti per il campionato: il neozelandese “brucia” il poleman Fernandez, che però respinge l’attacco e inizia a girare con un ritmo insostenibile per tutti. Armstrong chiude saggiamente in seconda piazza, con 3,5 secondi di distacco da Fernandez, che torna alla vittoria per la prima volta dopo la tripletta d’inizio stagione a Misano. Terzo gradino del podio per Lorenzo Colombo, che nel finale sembra in grado di attaccare Armstrong, ma non riesce ad avvicinarlo. Quarta posizione assoluta per Leonardo Lorandi, che ancora una volta si conferma vincitore della classifica Rookie, questa volta davanti al brasiliano Enzo Fittipaldi, che chiude alle sue spalle, e all’argentino Giorgio Carrara. Soltanto ottavo l’olandese Job Van Uitert, che perde punti preziosi in campionato.

Gara-2 vede il neozelandese Marcus Armstrong scattare al via senza indecisioni, seguito dall’olandese Job Van Uitert. Lorenzo Colombo, che ha ancora chance per il titolo, si ritrova costretto all’esterno ed esce di pista nella bagarre della prima curva. E’ necessario l’ingresso della Safety Car e, al nuovo via, Armstrong ingaggia un ritmo formidabile, che gli consentirà di conquistare la vittoria davanti a Van Uitert, con Lorandi bravo a mantenere la terza posizione nonostante gli attacchi di Kush Maini, che precede il guatemalteco Ian Rodriguez, portacolori del team DRZ Benelli. Da segnalare il ritiro del vincitore di Gara-1 Fernandez, dopo il contatto con lo svizzero Gregoire Saucy, che provoca la foratura del pneumatico posteriore destro sulla monoposto del venezuelano. Lorandi si aggiudica ancora una volta il Rookie Trophy, davanti a Giorgio Carrara e Olli Caldwell.

Gara-3 si disputa sotto un cielo coperto. Ottima partenza dalla pole position per Marcus Armstrong, seguito da Job Van Uitert e da Leonardo Lorandi, che però poco dopo è costretto a cedere la posizione al compagno di squadra Sebastian Fernandez. Un’uscita di pista di Ian Rodriguez porta all’ingresso della Safety Car. Alla ripresa delle ostilità, Fernandez riesce a sorpassare anche Van Uitert, poi penalizzato con drive through per partenza anticipata. Intanto Fernandez continua la sua rimonta e riesce a sorpassare anche Armstrong, andando a conquistare la quinta vittoria stagionale. Nel frattempo Artem Petrov rimonta dalla nona alla seconda posizione, e riesce a conservarla nonostante una penalità di 5 secondi, davanti a Marcus Armstrong, che con la terza posizione mette in carniere punti molto preziosi in ottica Campionato. Quarta posizione per Lorandi, che firma ancora una volta una tripletta nella classifica dei Rookie, questa volta davanti a Fittipaldi e Carrara. Un risultato importante, che gli consente di aggiudicarsi in anticipo il titolo degli esordienti. The Venezuelan Fernandez and the New Zealander Armstrong respectively claimed Race1 and Race-2’s pole positions of the penultimate round of the season. In qualifying one, Fernandez led Armstrong as Lorandi was third and Job Van Uitert fourth. The name of the protagonists did not change in the second session either, but the order did:Van Uitert was second behind Armstrong, Lorandi third and Fernandez fourth.

Marcus Armstrong made his intentions for the championship clear in Race-1. The driver from New Zealand got the jump on poleman Fernandez at the start, but the latter fended off the attack and put in a pace unmatchable by the others. Armstrong wisely settled for P2, 3.5s shy of Fernandez, who was back to the victory after the three wins taken in Misano’s opener. Lorenzo Colombo took the third step of the podium. In the closing stages he seemed to be able to attack Armstrong, but ultimately he could not get close enough. The fourth place went to Leonardo Lorandi, who confirmed his lead in the Rookie classification, taking the win this time ahead of the Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi, who followed him, as the Argentine Giorgio Carrara was third. The Dutch Job Van Uitert, was only eighth and lost some precious points for the championship.

Marcus Armstrong had a perfect start to Race-2, followed by the Dutch Job Van Uitert. Lorenzo Colombo, that still had title ambitions, was on the outside line and went off track in the melee of the first corner. The Safety Car was deployed and, as the race restarted, Armstrong put in a stunning pace that allowed him to take the win leading Van Uitert. Lorandi managed to keep P3 despite a charging Kush Maini, that proceeded Guatemala’s Ian Rodriguez of team DRZ Benelli. Race-1 winner Fernandez had to retire due to a contact with the Swiss Gregoire Saucy, that caused a puncture on the rear right tyre of his car. Lorandi secured another win in the Rookie Trophy, while Giorgio Carrara was second and Olli Caldwell third.

Race-3 was run under a cloudy sky. Marcus Armstrong got a great start from the pole position, as Job Van Uitert and Leonardo Lorandi chased him in the order, but the latter lost his position to team mate Sebastian Fernandez shortly after. The race was later on neutralized by the Safety Car due to an excursion by Ian Rodriguez. At the restart, Fernandez managed to also get past Van Uitert, who was later on handed a drive through penalty for jumping the start. Fernandez continued his recovery run and managed to overtake Armstrong taking the fifth win of the season. Meanwhile, Artem Petrov climbed up to P2 from the ninth place and managed to keep the position, despite a 5s penalty. Marcus Armstrong closed third and collected some further points for the Championship. Lorandi was fourth securing another triple win in the Rookie classification, where he led Fittipaldi and Carrera this time around. This important result earned him an early victory of the Rookie Trophy.
