LA CERIMONIA DI PREMIAZIONE DEI CAMPIONATI CIK-FIA 2016 DI VIENNA THE AWARDS CEREMONY OF THE 2016 CIK-FIA CHAMPIONSHIP IN VIENNA

La premiazione dei Campioni del Karting CIK-FIA 2016 si è svolta a Vienna negli eleganti locali del Grand Hotel Wien, con la presenza del Presidente della Federazione Internazionale Karting Shaikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al Khalifa e del Vicepresidente Kees van de Grint, insiema al Presidente di WSK Promotion Luca De Donno che ha introdotto la serata dedicata alla cerimonia di premiazione CIK-FIA.

Molta la soddisfazione espressa in questa occasione, a compendio di una stagione particolarmente significativa che ha caratterizzato l’attività CIK-FIA 2016 per l’avvio e il successo della nuova regolamentazione tecnica che ha riguardato le motorizzazioni OK e gli ottimi risultati ottenuti a livello internazionale. Il rinnovamento voluto dalla CIK-FIA ha prodotto gli effetti sperati con una semplificazione tecnica e di riduzione dei costi che ha favorito un incremento di partecipazione alle gare, con piloti provenienti da 5 Continenti e da 55 Paesi. Nel contempo l’attività di promozione di WSK Promotion si è ulteriormente ampliata sul fronte della programmazione televisiva degli eventi fino a divulgare le immagini a ben 185 nazioni.

La giovane pilota giapponese Shion Tsujimoto ha aperto la lista dei premiati (con il primo riconoscimento assegnato nella serata di Vienna consegnato dal Vice Presidente FIA Morrie Chandler) quale pilota supportata nel FIA Women Motorsport Commission per l’impegno e i risultati raggiunti dalla ragazza nel CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

A consegnare gli altri premi ai primi tre classificati di ogni categoria per la stagione 2016 si sono alternati il Segretario Generale Kay Oberheide e i membri CIK-FIA presenti al Galà viennese. Sono stati poi il Vicepresidente FIA Carlos Gracia, il Presidente CIK-FIA Al Khalifa e il Vice Presidente CIK-FIA van de Grint a premiare i Campioni del Mondo: l’italiano Paolo De Conto in KZ, lo spagnolo Pedro Hiltbrand nella categoria OK, il francese Victor Martins nella OK-Junior.

Altri riconoscimenti sono stati assegnati per il secondo e terzo posto nel Campionato del Mondo KZ a Anthony Abbasse, secondo classificato, e a Marco Ardigò, terzo classificato; nel Campionato del Mondo OK a Karol Basz, secondo classificato, e a Felice Tiene, terzo classificato.; nel Campionato del Mondo OK-Junior a David Vidales, secondo classificato, e a Theo Pourchaire terzo classificato.

Pedro Hiltbrand è stato premiato anche per la vittoria ottenuta nel CIK-FIA International KZ2 Super Cup e per il successo nel Campionato Europeo in OK. Nei Campionati Europei sono stati premiati anche gli italiani Marco Ardigò, andato al successo in KZ, e Fabian Federer vincitore della KZ2, oltre al britannico Finlay Kenneally vincitore della OK-Junior.

Per i Campionati Europei 2016 sono stati assegnati riconoscimenti anche al secondo e terzo classificato: in KZ al secondo classificato Patrik Hajek e al terzo classificato Jeremy Iglesias, in KZ2 al secondo classificato Stan Pex e al terzo classificato Matteo Viganò, in OK al secondo classificato Tom Joyner e al terzo classificato Karol Basz, in OK-Junior al secondo classificato Noah Watt e al terzo classificato Victor Martins.

A ricevere i premi nell’Academy Trophy sono stati il vincitore dell’edizione 2016, l’inglese Callum Bradshaw, insieme agli altri due primi classificati del Trofeo, lo svedese Alfred Nilsson classificato al secondo posto e l’olandese Kas Haverkort al terzo.

Altri riconoscimenti sono stati consegnati all’olandese Thom Meijlink per i molti anni di contributo al mondo del karting. Il Trofeo “Best Event” della stagione CIK-FIA è stato assegnato al Kristianstad Karting Klubb per l’organizzazione del Campionato del Mondo KZ, l’International KZ2 Super Cup e la prova finale del CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy in Svezia. Il Trofeo “Exceptional Event of the Year” è stato assegnato al Bahrain International Circuit per l’organizzazione del Campionato del Mondo OK e OK-Junior. The CIK-FIA 2016 Karting Awards were held in Vienna, at the elegant premises of the Grand Hotel Wien, in the presence of the CIK-FIA President Shaikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the Vice President, Kees van de Grint, together with the chairman of WSK Promotion, Luca De Donno, who introduced the evening dedicated to the CIK-FIA awards ceremony.

There was a great amount of satisfaction on the occasion, which provided a summary of a particularly significant season that reflected the work of the CIK-FIA during 2016 for the introduction and the success of the new technical regulations concerning OK engines and the excellent results achieved at international level. The renewal sought by the CIK-FIA produced the desired effects, leading to technical simplifications and cost reductions that increased participation in the races, involving drivers from 5 continents and 55 countries. At the same time, WSK Promotion’s promotional activity further expanded on the TV programming of events front, distributing footage to an impressive 185 nations.

General Secretary Kay Oberheide and CIK-FIA members present at the gala in Vienna alternated in handing out the other awards to the top three in the standings of each class in the 2016 season. FIA Vice President Carlos Gracia, CIK-FIA President Al Khalifa and CIK-FIA Vice President van de Grint then gave awards to the World Champions: Italy’s Paolo De Conto in the KZ class, Spain’s Pedro Hiltbrand in the OK class and France’s Victor Martins in the OK-Junior class.

Other awards were given for second and third places in the KZ World Championship to Anthony Abbasse, second placed, and Marco Ardigò, third placed. In the OK World Championship to Karol Basz, second placed, and Felice Tiene, third placed. In the OK-Junior World Championship to David Vidales, second placed, and Theo Pourchaire, third placed.

Pedro Hiltbrand was also handed an award for winning the CIK-FIA International KZ2 Super Cup and for his success in the OK European Championship. Other awards were given to Holland’s Thom Meijlink for his contribution over many years to the world of karting. The “Best Event” trophy of the CIK-FIA season was awarded to the Kristianstad Karting Klubb for the organisation of the KZ World Championship, the International KZ2 Super Cup and the closing round of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy in Sweden. The “Exceptional Event of the Year” trophy was awarded to the Bahrain International Circuit for the organisation of the OK and OK-Junior World Championships.
