FROM THE EDITORS’ DESK Dear Readers, SAVE FOOD Congress 2017 is a multi-dimensional approach to fighting food losses and waste. Led by high-calibre speakers from political and business spheres and civil society, the 3rd edition of the SAVE FOOD Congress will be held on 4 May 2017 as part of Interpack 2017. Taking place at Congress Center Süd of the Düsseldorf exhibition centre, the Congress will represent a global but also detailed perspective focusing on details and national conditions, apart from providing participants with a forum for mutual exchange as well as for identifying and sharing Best Practices. In its sixth year, this Initiative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and Messe Düsseldorf has more than 850 members from industry, associations, research institutes and NGOs. Regional Schools were called upon in the run-up to the event to give some thought to the theme of SAVE FOOD and work out corresponding concepts. One focal theme of the SAVE FOOD Congress is the presentation of the SAVE FOOD School Awards to the winning projects. Pharmaceutical packaging must comply with strict regulations. The Track & Trace solution from Bosch, through secondary packaging serialization, fulfills both requirements - protecting patients from counterfeit medicine, and ensuring the traceability along the production chain. Heidelberg: “Simply Smart” at China Print 2017 Heidelberg, a driving force behind industry’s digitization, will be showing innovative solutions at the exhibition.

During China Print trade fair (Beijing, May 9-13, 2017), Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) will exhibit innovative Packaging and Commercial Printing solutions under the motto “Simply Smart”, for visitors from China and other Asia Pacific Regions, showing itself the most reliable partner of the print media industry for the current digital era. It was on Drupa 2016 that Heidelberg announced the motto “Simply Smart”, as the company’s response to the challenges and opportunities associated with Print Media Industry 4.0. Heidelberg is offering customers specific benefits and making it as easy as possible to work with increasingly complex processes and technologies.

“For Heidelberg, ‘Simply Smart’ is more than just a motto. It is the principle we apply to the development of solutions designed to make handling processes and technologies as easy as possible. It is how we imagine the intelligent, highly automated print shop of the future.” Rene Ludvigsen

“For Heidelberg, ‘Simply Smart’ is more than just a motto. It is the principle we apply to the development of solutions designed to make handling processes and technologies as easy as possible. It is how we imagine the intelligent, highly automated print shop of the future,” said Rene Ludvigsen, Regional Head of Heidelberg Asia.

“Smart Print Shop”, “Smart Service” and “Smart Collaboration” concepts are put forward Heidelberg will put forward the concepts including “Smart Print Shop”, “Smart Service” and “Smart Collaboration” during China Print this year.

At the show, visitors will see “Smart Print Shop” Heidelberg’s vision of the digitized, integrated and networked print shop. All these should be attributed to the Workflow Prinect, which integrates all areas and lays the foundation for integrated communication inside the print shop, as well as between the print shop and their customers and suppliers. Automation solutions make print production more reliable and efficient, while optimized consumables pave the way for innovative applications. “Smart Services” from Heidelberg safeguard the smooth running of a print shop round the clock. Heidelberg Service offerings and consumables enable customers to boost their machine availability and productivity. Thanks to “Smart Services”, customers can get technical support fast, get problem solved in an efficient way, even before it causes a machine stoppage, and get parts replaced in good time during a scheduled service. Reliable and efficient print production also depends on tested consumables that are suitable for the relevant application. And this is where customers can choose from the fully comprehensive range of

Heidelberg Saphira consumables, which include the Saphira Eco product line for environmentally friendly print production. “Smart collaboration” stands for innovative approaches to cooperation. New digital approaches are developed as part of the collaboration between Heidelberg and customers. The use of e-commerce is an example - through the new Heidelberg China Online Shop. In a further step, customers will be able to log into the Heidelberg website to obtain a detailed breakdown of how their machines are performing.

“Navigated Printing” aims to increase the net productivity of print shops As a pioneer of the digitization of the Print Media Industry, Heidelberg will highlight its “Navigated Printing” philosophy at China Print 2017. Since Drupa 2016, Heidelberg has been ushering in a paradigm shift with its new “Push to Stop” operating philosophy. The operator only interrupts the Printing process when necessary or not at all. This raises the effectiveness of print production to previously unattainable levels, enables better planning of processes, and continuous process monitoring lowers the error rate. For many print shops, “Navigated Printing” will be a critical step prior to “Autonomous Printing”. In a similar way to a navigation system in a car, Intellistart 2 in the new Press Center XL 2 machine control station identifies the ideal changeover sequence, shows the operator the shortest way to get from one OK sheet to the next, initiates all make ready operations and informs the operator of when and which manual activities are necessary. It was reported by the field testers that, with much more make ready time saved and many more good sheets produced, a massive performance increase have been achieved.

Heidelberg presents itself as the most reliable partner for the current digital era To meet customers’ current and future requirements and maintain its leading position as the industry’s most reliable partner in the future, Heidelberg has undergone a transformation and reoriented its corporate strategy accordingly. “The focus is no longer simply on equipment, but far more on the integrated overall process and all the requisite components. What benefits we offer our customers are always our key consideration, because our own success depends on that of our customers,” explained Benny Huang Head of Heidelberg China. “Our customers expect us to deliver added value and enhanced business opportunities, and we are actively helping them make the transformation to a digitized future. ‘Simply Smart’ will certainly become a signpost for the future of our industry.” And Rene Ludvigsen added, “We have to deal quickly with the fusion of the digital world and the world of printing industry. The Industry 4.0 is more than just a phrase, but a confluence of trends and technologies promises to reshape the way things are made. Our exhibition of the industry’s digitized future under “Simply Smart” will take our industry into a new digital era, and I’m confident this will help our customers for a success transformation.”

Xerox reports first-quarter 2017 earnings Xerox has announced its first-quarter 2017 financial results. “I am pleased with our operational results in the first quarter,” said Jeff Jacobson, Xerox chief executive officer. “Revenue and cash flow were in-line with our expectations and, despite currency headwinds, operating margin expanded driven by productivity savings from our Strategic Transformation initiatives.” Jacobson added, “While we still have a lot to do, we laid the foundation to deliver on our full-year commitments.” The company delivered first-quarter 2017 GAAP earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations of 2 cents. Adjusted

EPS was 15 cents, which excludes 13 cents per share of after-tax costs related to the amortization of intangibles, restructuring and related costs, certain retirement related costs, loss on extinguishment of debt and a tax benefit. Revenues were $2.45 billion in the quarter, down 6.2 percent or 4.3 percent in constant currency. Post sale revenue was 80 percent of total revenue.

First-quarter adjusted operating margin, excluding the impact of the Fuji Xerox charge, was 11.4 percent, up 0.9 percentage points from the same quarter a year ago. Xerox generated operating cash flow of $190 million from continuing operations during the first quarter and ended the period with a cash balance of $1.05 billion. FM Brooks launches Pure Digital The Digital Print Event for the Creative Industry FM Brooks launches ’Pure Digital’ (RAI, Amsterdam 17-19 April 2018) a groundbreaking and unique event designed to excite the European creative industry with truly innovative digitally printed applications.

Drawing upon their experience and strong track record of success in growing exhibitions in the wide format graphic market, and the more recent launch and development of the InPrint Shows, FM Brooks’ launch of Pure Digital comes at a time when Europe’s wide format graphic market has commoditised and Pure Digital has the aim of unlocking new market opportunities.

Unlike traditional print-based tradeshows, Pure Digital’s event format, content and style has been specifically designed to appeal to the creative industry including: creative directors, architects, interior designers, graphic designers, fashion designers, marketers and print service providers. Within one single and exclusive European event, Pure Digital will showcase and celebrate the very best of creative design within digitally printed applications. From short-run, interior fabrics to bespoke wallpaper, retail interior print production to innovative packaging print campaigns, Pure Digital will not only provide the inspiration, but also the contacts from exhibiting equipment vendors and print suppliers, for creatives to explore and then utilise digital print within their upcoming projects or campaigns. Co-Founder, Frazer Chesterman explains, “With Pure Digital, we aim to inspire the creative and marketing industry with the innovative power of digital print. New technologies launch almost daily, powering often breath-taking applications. We will be the catalyst that brings these applications, technologies and a providers together

Pure Digital will provide a focal point for print companies to improve and ignite their true potential, whilst educating the creative industry to demand higher value digital print production with new applications - whether this is for décor, retail or packaging.

under one roof - demonstrating the power of digital print and supporting the growth of the creative communities and the digital print market. “Until today, creatives have had no focused event designed for them. Pure Digital will be that event. Not a traditional print show, but a platform that celebrates cutting edge design with incredible digital print. A forum that educates visitors as to what’s possible when you blend the two together, often creating market leading and often award winning projects that deliver superior commercial results.”

The event will take place at the RAI, one of Europe’s leading event venues. Perfectly situated in one of Northern Europe’s most creative capitals, Amsterdam, it enables the event to benefit from the city’s vibrant community of 40,000 creative businesses. Additionally, the event will be co-located with Building Holland, a leading construction exhibition attended by architects, interior design, and production companies. Marcus Timson, Co-Founder, enthuses, “Many established print related shows have attempted to appeal to the creative industry, yet struggled to effectively engage this community. To our minds, this is because they have not succeeded in developing a unique and distinct brand and experience that resonates with the creative industry. “At our launch event last week, close to 30 of the leaders in digital print innovation gave us excellent support and quality feedback. They not only validated Pure Digital’s concept, but also confirmed its alignment with their strategic vision as leading print manufacturers. We left understanding that Pure Digital could be crucial to the future growth of digital printing in new applications and markets, and we look forward to promoting the opportunity it represents to European creatives.”

Industry 4.0: A new level of quality Bosch presents connected solutions for higher process and product safety at interpack 2017 At interpack 2017, Bosch Packaging Technology (hall 6, booth A30-C58) shows how Industry 4.0 solutions help to achieve higher process safety and product quality. “Especially in the pharmaceutical and food industries, both manufacturers and end consumers expect absolutely safe products,” says Dr Stefan König, president of Bosch Packaging Technology. “The key to this safety are transparent and controllable manufacturing processes, which comply with international guidelines. Our Industry 4.0 solutions are designed to support customers in optimizing their processes – and in making their products even safer for end consumers and patients.”

Consistent process safety

Pharmaceutical packaging must comply with strict regulations. The Track & Trace solution from Bosch, through secondary packaging serialization, fulfills both requirements - protecting patients from counterfeit medicine, and ensuring the traceability along the production chain.

Key Notes : > Focus on highest product quality for end consumers and patients. > Transparent and safe processes thanks to machine data in real-time. > Future-proof serialization – for pharmaceuticals and food products.

34

April 2017

Detailed information about each machine, line or process status is provided by the Condition Monitoring platform. It records data in real-time, enabling maintenance staff to react before costintensive process deviations or downtimes occur. An example shown at interpack is the monitoring of filters, which ensure the consistent sterility of production processes. Special sensors within the machine control the sterilization status of these filters. In case pre-defined parameters are infringed, operators receive a notification. This enables them to initiate maintenance activities quickly, and to prevent product loss due to non-sterile processes. To ensure constant product quality, all process steps

are subject to strict regulations. This is particularly true in the pharmaceutical industry, for instance regarding electronic records and signatures. The Bosch Pharma Manufacturing Execution System (MES) enables pharmaceutical companies to take the step towards a transparent, paperless production. To this end, Bosch works with the software provider Parsec Automation Corp. and configures the MES software TrakSYS according to the requirements of the pharmaceutical industry. Together with a complete audit trail, it includes all necessary functionalities to manage machines and processes, and to generate electronic batch records (EBR), thus facilitating the approval for batch releases by qualified persons. The Bosch Pharma MES can be integrated into any Bosch or third-party machines and lines, as well as into complete manufacturing facilities.

Counterfeit-proof packaging When it comes to packaging, pharmaceutical manufacturers must also comply with strict regulations. The unambiguous serialization of secondary packaging aims at protecting patients from counterfeit medicine, and ensures the traceability along the production chain. The Track & Trace solution from Bosch fulfills both requirements. It consists of the CPI software and machine modules, which are connected within the serialization process. At the machine level, CPS modules print data matrix codes onto folding cartons, verify the codes and, if

pressideas/ plc

the CPS modules into the company IT. This ensures a reliable serialization – from the allocation of the serial numbers through to the last aggregation step.

required, equip the packaging with a tamperevident seal. The CPI software integrates

“In the food industry, the requirements regarding product safety are also rising continuously,“ says König. “While we already drew on the comprehensive know-how of the Bosch Group during the development of our Track & Trace solution, for instance from the automotive division, we can now transfer this expertise to the food industry.” At interpack, Bosch showcases such an application for yoghurt packaging for the first time. The packaging machine is connected

with the CPI software. The software transfers the information directly into the Bosch IoT Cloud. Thanks to the QR code printed onto the lid of the yoghurt cup, end consumers can verify whether they have bought an original product. “The cloud further enables producers to actively communicate with their customers,” König explains. “In case of a faulty product, consumers can immediately inform the manufacturer – and support them in securing the quality of their products.” Apart from product verification, manufacturers also make use of well- known online marketing possibilities via the code by adding further, product-specific information such as ingredients, allergens or recipes.

Impel’s made-in-India innovation reimagines case sealing at Interpack 2017 Imagine a scenario where random-sized corrugated boxes containing several different SKUs of products from multiple manufacturing and packing lines converge to enter a single high-speed case sealing system. As the corrugated boxes of different sizes get ready to be sealed one after the other in no particular order, the intelligent system measures the box dimensions on the fly, and on the fly are the machine settings altered to accommodate the boxes and select the preferred sealing methods from a range of options: gluing or taping or a combination. To top it up, what if there’s sealing method using cold glue that can ensure best box performance in extreme hot and cold supply chain and offers best-inclass tamper evidence. And as intelligent as it gets, the system can be configured to pick and chooses the most suitable sealing method on the basis of its end-use and supply chain requirement. Plus you are able to pre-determine the quantity of glue and/or tape needed for a given box.

Does it seem like a utopian fantasy? “It’s not,” says Impel Services director Pallippuram Sajith. “It’s a real-life solution to the challenges that most of the packaging technologists around the world encounter while sealing corrugated boxes that need to perform in the harsh logistics and supply chain environments. That’s what we will

demonstrate at Interpack 2017.”

Reimagine case sealing The case sealing is a small and often underrated link in the end-of-the-line packaging processes. It is observed that the choice of materials, methods and processes deployed for case sealing are driven by cost rather than the value they should add. This approach adversely impacts the value chain resulting in product damages and pilferage. Let us first look at the different methods of sealing a corrugated box. The BOPP selfadhesive tape is the most common sealing medium. It ensures that the major flaps of the box are joined together, while the minors inside hang loose. Therefore, any uneven load on the face of the box will damage the products inside. These tapes are highly prone to pilferage. Plus they cannot be disposed off easily. To address the issues with BOPP tapes, hotmelt adhesives were introduced for case sealing. With hotmelts all the flaps are glued together thus providing structural integrity to the box – this reduces in-transit damages. The other advantage with hotmelts is the visible fibre tear when the box is opened, thereby offering tamper evidence. Now, the cold glue provides all the benefits that hotmelts have to offer. Plus it also

provides better heat resistance and higher tamper evidence as the cold glue penetrates through the layers of craft paper. However, water-based adhesives have not been deployed for case sealing because of the inherent issues like higher drying time and difficulty in application.

Introducing STELDA AR500 GT STELDA AR500 GT is a state-of-the-art, fully automated case sealing machine that can accept any random-sized box, measure the dimensions, configure the setting on the fly and set the machine to fire a right quantity of hotmelt or cold glue or use a BOPP tape to seal the box. The machine is so flexible that it also allows combination of two or all the three sealing methods for one box so as to provide higher insurance for the product against damages. And that’s how Impel reimagines case sealing and STELDA AR500 GT realizes the process. A one-of-its-kind solution that comes with extreme flexibility in size, type of boxes and sealing method for any given box. India’s Impel Services Private Ltd, a part of the Welbound group, will give the machine and the concept an international launch at Interpack 2017. Pallippuram Sajith says, “STELDA uses smart automation to provide a cost-effective solution for a complex process. The concept also addresses the requirement of flexibility that the market demands especially for the packaging of food products. So you can chose a type of sealing required for a specific SKU based on customer or logistics demands. At Interpack we will also demonstrate the way of using a water-based adhesive for sealing shipper cartons, for which we have applied for a patent. We will be presenting the most effective and economic method of case sealing that offers in-transit product stability and tamper evidence.” Impel Services will be present in Hall – 08 B; Stand – G60 at Interpack 2017 from 4 May to 10 May 2017.

Printsystem trusts in Tecnau for automatic cutting Tecnau line to process output from Océ ColorStream 6900 Chroma Twin inkjet web press from Canon. without any additional side trimming.

New Tecnau Stacker s25: a key component in repeatable product quality Printsystem has just put an automatic Tecnau cutting line into operation at its headquarters in Heimsheim, near Stuttgart (Germany). The company will use the Tecnau line to process the output from a newly installed Océ ColorStream 6900 Chroma Twin inkjet web press from Canon. Established in 1979, Printsystem currently employs more than 50 people in Heimsheim and at a branch in downtown Berlin. Most of its production is digital. In addition to the new inkjet press, Printsystem also has 14 sheetfed digital printing systems and one sheetfed offset press. Industrial enterprises, publishers, advertising agencies, educational institutions, public authorities, ministries and – last but not least – the German Bundestag and the European Central Bank are among the customers of this family owned firm. The main emphasis of the portfolio is on low to medium-volume print-on-demand jobs as well as end-to-end production of technical documentation, educational materials, magazines, books, catalogues, brochures and official documents. Printsystem operates the new Tecnau cutting line as a near-line installation adjacent to the inkjet press. The line is configured with an Unwinder 550, a Cutter c23, a Stacker s25, an exit conveyor and a waste extraction unit. The printed web is precisely cut in 1-up paper sheets stacked and ready for binding

The new Tecnau s25 high performance stacker gently grips the sheeted output stacking a variety of coated or uncoated stocks from 40 to 300 gsm with ±0.5 mm accuracy at high speed. Tecnau has equipped the Stacker s25 with a new gripper system. This system transports the sheets that are output by the cutter at high speeds carefully and safely to the stacker’s stop device and brings them to a standstill. The gripper mechanism prevents damage to the prints, especially in heavy ink coverage applications. The Stacker s25 is thus a natural choice for graphic arts production.

offset and recycled papers weighing between 50 to 130 gsm, it is also used for coated stocks ranging from 115 to 130 gsm. “Since the Tecnau line works extremely precisely, we can cut a lot of our products to size straight away, eliminating extra trimming typically required, for example, for applications such as wire-o or plastic comb binding,” Harfensteller explains. “We save both time and money.”

“We were looking for a high performance cutting line to support our entry into web printing with the ColorStream 6900. We chose Tecnau because, in our opinion, they offer very good technology and excellent value for money. In terms of ease of operation, quality and flexibility, the Tecnau line meets our requirements perfectly,” says Oliver Harfensteller, a member of the Printsystem Management Board.

Highly satisfied with the overall system, comprised of the inkjet web press and the Tecnau cutting line, Printsystem now plans to pursue its business with direct mail and personalized products more intensively. “Direct mail has been a comparatively small market segment for us up to now. We want to take advantage of the possibilities that the new line gives us to get ahead in this market and leverage its technical refinements to realize further efficiency gains and value added for our customers,” Harfensteller emphasizes.

“We’re delighted that our automatic cutting line is helping Printsystem to succeed in the inkjet business. It’s a reliable, robust solution for high performance cutting and stacking that perfectly complements the capabilities of the production inkjet press,” comments Robert Gubo, Area Manager Germany and Switzerland at Tecnau. Just like the inkjet press, the Tecnau cutting line installed at Printsystem can handle and process a broad array of materials. Apart from

Schib Packaging and Abrigo partner for interpack 2017 Live demos part of Hayssen Flexible Systems’ presence during event

When it comes to finding solutions for the candy, nut, bakery, snack food, frozen food, fresh produce and cheese industries, Hayssen Flexible Systems has it in the bag. And at interpack 2017 – held May 4 – 10 in Dusseldorf, Germany – many of those solutions will be on display. Hayssen Flexible Systems is one of a number of Barry-Wehmiller businesses represented in BW Packaging Solutions, located in Hall 6 Booth D62 at the show. Through their diverse capabilities, these companies can collectively provide everything from a single piece of equipment to fully integrated, tailor-made packaging line solutions for a wide range of packaging industries. A highlight of Hayssen’s presence at interpack is a live demonstration. As part of a long-standing relationship, Schib Packaging — part of Hayssen Flexible Systems, and a dominant player in the candy, bakery and snack food industries — will partner with Abrigo to display an integrated robotic solution for secondary packaging in Abrigo’s booth E37 in Hall 3. The robotic solution features a servo driven Schib CO 90 flow wrapper fed by a robotic cell with multiple picking tool. The Abrigo robot will be loading collations of five pre-wrapped snack bars directly into the in-feed chain of a Schib HFFS over wrapper. The packaging machine will be running 50 five-packs per minute. Automatic film splicing and Allen-Bradley controls are included in the machine setup.

“This specific partnership is a testament to our dedication in providing turnkey packaging solutions to our customers,” stated Michael Dann, Vice President of Hayssen Europe. Hayssen technology on display in the BW Packaging Solutions booth include the Logic VFFS – with Doy, Quad and Zip capabilities – efficiently producing the most popular bag formats throughout the various major industry segments. The operational efficiency is enhanced by easy changeovers. Bag format change overs are a matter of minutes between simple format size changes, to a more complicated bag format such as Doy bag with zipper or Quad seal stand up bag with zipper. The Merlin Blu flow wrapper will also be on display. Its hygienic design is suitable for a wide range of industries, with tool-less removal of guarding, the Merlin offers easy access for cleaning and its sloped tops and rounded legs minimize debris buildup. Plus,

it’s “no product, no bag” feature minimizes film waste in the event a product is not in place to be wrapped. “The Merlin Blu flow wrapper, with its straightforward setup features, provides fast, repeatable changeovers for customers,” said Dan Minor, Hayssen’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “In addition, we are proud to introduce an all new VFFS bagger that essentially produces every type of bag style with or without zip reclose in a single machine; it’s one of the most versatile, efficient machines on the market.”

Xitron celebrates 40th year of service to Printing Industry RIP, workflow, and interface developer reflects on history while charting future contributions to printing industry. Xitron, developer of RIP and workflow products for commercial, digital, and highspeed inkjet printing has passed a milestone, now celebrating 40 years as a provider of prepress hardware and software to the printing industry. Xitron’s first products were “blue box” interfaces between newspaper editorial systems and high-speed laser imagesetters, first brought to market in 1977. “Back then, our job was to provide technological independence to newspapers, allowing them to choose their editorial systems separately from their output systems,” said Karen Crews, President of Xitron. “As we mark our 40th year in the print industry, we continue to develop RIPs, workflow software, and hardware interfaces for commercial, newspaper, in-plant, flexo, screen printing, and high-speed digital output devices without binding our customers to any single vendor.” Xitron’s business model has allowed them to place nearly 35,000 RIPs and over 20,000 CtP and imagesetter interfaces in printing companies on every continent. “This achievement really speaks to Xitron’s commitment of independence when it comes to a user’s prepress choices,” said Gary Fry, CEO of Global Graphics, authors of the Harlequin RIP. “Xitron has been a development partner since 1992, and, coincidentally, our anniversary with Xitron is a milestone in and of itself,” he continued. “We plan to honour our 25 year association with

Xitron by presenting them with a special Silver Partner award at Print 2017 later this year.” In advance of Print’s return to Chicago this September, several new products that build on Xitron’s commercial catalogue are slated for release. Included in the line-up are Raster Blaster 4.0, which is an intelligent TIFF catcher for all supported CTP devices; B3, a new network-based interface that doesn’t require a computer platform; and a very economical USB/SCSI interface for legacy Fujifilm platesetters that (until now) could not be upgraded beyond Windows XP operating systems. An upgrade to Xitron’s Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE)-based Sierra workflow is also planned, in cooperation with their Adobe development partner, FFEI. “Xitron and FFEI have a relationship that began in 1999 with the Xenith workflow,” said Andy Cook, Managing Director of FFEI. “We’ve continued to work together through the introduction of Sierra using the Mercury RIP architecture introduced in APPE 3, with which Xitron has significantly impacted the high-end workflow market in the US.” While continuing their successful approach of delivering alternative RIP and interface strategies to the commercial market, recent innovation in print technology has required

Ms. Crews to keep one eye focused beyond traditional printing. This has fostered the development of colour matching workflow software designed specifically for the needs of highspeed inkjet press manufacturers around the world. “Staying relevant in a market whose technology moves as quickly as ours is not easy,” said Len Lauer, President and CEO of Xitron’s inkjet technology partner Memjet. “And yet, here they are, developing remarkable colour RIP and workflow software for over half of Memjet’s OEMs. We’re looking forward to sustained expansion of this market with Xitron.” “This is a very exciting time for Xitron and I have to thank our worldwide dealer organization and OEM customers for their contributions.” said Crews. “While being firmly entrenched in the traditional print landscape, we also have clear vision of the technological future of our products. Forty years of development have provided us with an excellent foundation to move forward with this industry.” Driving CTP devices from Agfa, ECRM, Creo, Kodak, Presstek, Heidelberg, Fuji, and Screen, Xitron helps customers who want to maximize their investments by extending the life of their prepress systems.
