Condot Systems showcases ‘Made in India’ machines at Printpack India Condot Systems showcases security printing and personalization solutions along with their latest solutions for the printing industry. We met Jigish Chiniwala, MD who spoke in detail about Condot’s key highlights and Printpack experience. Condot Systems, established in year 1994, has made a mark in the business of Coding and Marking with its state-of-the-art-solutions, today not only complying ISO 9001 / 27001 / GMP standards but also serving customers across the world through 38 overseas and 13 Indian locations. A strong team of 87 people with rich average experience of more than 10 years’ association with company, serves a common philosophy – to explore beyond limits, understand market demands and provide solutions that increase customer satisfaction that creates a lasting bond with them.

What makes Condot’s Seiko and Kao solutions just irreplaceable are their strength in combining speed with resolution, harsh environment sturdiness as well as data management.

June 2022

Condot operates in 13 location in India and 38 Countries of Asia Pacific and Africa with key area of operation being Printing, Packaging and Software – with 80% of total requirements being manufactured in house. Their business portfolio is Coding Marking & VDP Printing, Track and Trace, Vision Inspection and related software. The business interest extends to Security Printing, VDP, Read Print and Verification, Coding and Marking and such application with total solution that includes customized and personalized ones as per individual need. At the recently concluded Printpack India exhibition, Condot was a participant. “PrintPack India is grand show and our key attraction in the show was made in India machines which we used to import in the past,” says Jigish Chiniwala, MD, Condot Systems.

“But now they are built in India, especially Dry Offset, Slitter Re-winders, UV Systems, Matrix Removal, Hologram Strip Applicators, Security Printing equipment’s. These all were our new key attractions in the show,” he adds. Jigish is happy about the industry’s response at Printpack. “Industry response was good – at Condot booth we had quality visitors and very well appreciated footfall with quite focused visitor turnaround. We welcomed more interested customers who were or wanted to venture in Security or personalisation printing,” he shares. Condot had a total exhibit area of 90 square meters at the 15th Printpack India. The showcase highlights included live demo of Security Printing, Authentication Software and many other machines. “The customers who were planning for customer loyalty program, brand protection program or customer retention program along with security printers showed a great interest in our products,” says Jigish.

offer best ROI and top class DOD products. Solutions for the difficult and challenging environment bring us success,” says Jigish.

How many can print VDP with security? Condot always offers something different and innovative; they are just not inkjet printers. Explaining this Jigish says, “We are very clear even in promotion. Everyone can print VDP but how many can print VDP with security? We provide required integration software solution build on 21CFR and data handling system with VDP to keep our customers a step ahead of other and to fetch better business.”

“As we were focusing on security printing and generating awareness towards printing especially centering around our new customer loyalty program, brand protection program and customer retention program, we hope Indian printers will show as much interest as they did with TIJ. We brought TIJ technology in India in 2004 and saw a great enthusiasm in printers in accepting it against traditional numbering boxes,” continues Jigish.

Condot with Seiko and Kao: Robust solutions for high speed, high resolution and data management needs What makes Condot’s Seiko and Kao solutions just irreplaceable are their strength in combining speed with resolution, harsh environment sturdiness as well as data management. Condot’s association with Seiko is relatively new. “Our experience with Seiko has been very encouraging – Seiko is very supportive in our all development programs. Without Seiko support it wouldn’t have been possible for Condot to develop our first machine so fast. It is only because of their support that we are a recognized name in DOD solutions where we got established in a very short time too,” emphasizes Jigish. Speaking about the printheads, he says, “Seiko print heads are a top choice – they are known for their reliability, sturdiness and effortless performance. We have done some very difficult installations too – like

135 meters per minute UV curable ink at 50 degree Centigrade and full coverage of 70mm machine. These installations along with many others are running as smoothly in such harsh environments as they would in any other environment. They are running without any service call! Then we did Vertical Printing on a shipper from both the sides. During this project, sometimes the shipper would rub against the print head. Still, neither did we miss any nozzle nor skip the perfect quality of the required 2D bar code,” proudly acclaims Jigish. Surely, such proven difficult installations with flawless performance record have made it easier for Condot customers to take the decision in their favour. Similarly, Condot and Kao have been working together for a fairly long time – since 2005 and they have worked together on TIJ & DOD Inks of different varieties. “Our business association is not restricted to India but we offer Kao inks in many countries of Asia and Africa,” informs Jigish. Condot and Seiko offer 70mm to 560mm stitch less printing, 8 level grey scale printing, UV and Oil based ink for porous and nonporous substrate. Years of association with Condot and their service is an assurance of quality for their customers. The strength of Condot solutions to take up challenges of harsh environments today makes them a distinct name in the TIJ sphere in India. “With our quality and standard and commitment to serve customer with most efficient products with less down time, we

Customization is an everyday chore at Condot Systems. The solutions are mostly customized as per individual needs. “For us every solution is customized since we provide solution on almost all press and post press equipment like Web Offset (Narrow Web / Wide Web / News Paper Web), Flexo, Rotogravure, Folding machine, Lamination machines, different type of Winder and un winders, Slitter, Sheeters etc. Not only on different transport, but we also provide customized solutions on Variable data printing, Vision inspection as well as required software for data management,” informs Jigish. At the Printpack India 2022 Condot had a lot of positive leads and encouraging discussions with existing as well as prospective customers. The months following would be the time to take them further for the company and its team. “To convert the positive outcome of Printpack to orders would follow normal sales cycle depending on the complexity of each project,” says Jigish looking forward to coming months. “Since our focus is on niche requirements of the printing industry, our visitors too usually have very unique demands. We had good visitors with focused approach and we are quite happy about the same,” he adds. Since they are more towards creating awareness on security printing, theirs is not a volumes business. Jigish calls Condot’s Printpack participation a success.

The industry post Covid “Looking at current situation after prolonged Covid period, it sound harsh but, the fact is

more digitisation and online working practice will be difficult for conventional printers,” says Jigish. “Unless printers think out of the box for personalisation, do short run with more security features and say, associate with digital media they may not find grow easy today; if they are not ready with such solutions they will have difficult time in future,” analyses Jigish. Hit by economic crisis, supply & demand, material shortage and similar issues, most of the industry segments suffered, especially in terms of investment decisions lately. Speaking on the present situation and future opportunities, Jigish elaborates, “Of course there are temporary issues with supply chain and inflation, but people who are doing new out of box solutions are doing good. Under ‘Make in India’ we are getting great support from the Indian Govt. to develop better and different solutions and export them. Even in the Printing Industry, digitisation, short run press, security printing, personalisation printing, track and trace in packaging industry are fast growing markets. But I reiterate that standard printers will have more difficult time ahead.” He looked pleased about his Printpack experience, save for a few things, like Noida being an ideal location for the exhibition. “Since most of the printers are owner based companies, when they want to visit exhibition across India, they prefer better connectivity,” he says. Government support, according to Jigish, is crucial for the revival and growth of the industry. “Government should have some program for machine manufacturers in the Printing Industry especially for innovative digital technology in printing since that is the future and we should be ready for the same,” he suggests. Other thing was there were fewer international visitors this time. “We were surprised international visitors were very few and that too from very near countries only,” observes Jigish and authoritatively so as Condot Systems has a strong international presence, operating in 38 countries. Apart from these, the May climate of the region is in no way conducive for travel, visit and stay which surely would have affected the Printpack business. “It is not good for

10

June 2022

visitors especially experienced and people with established businesses avoid such climate for exhibition visit,” affirms Jigish. Speaking about the Condot solutions for different shapes of material, he says, “Different shape means 2D and not 3D – most of the time we do not come across such applications except labels and we have no problem to handle any shape since most of the demand comes on flexo.” Condot has more than 10,000 successful installations in Printing Industry of India. Condot is surely known for their reliability and service for which they have been a preferred choice for their wide customer base. “Most of customers who are printing VDP, now understand the requirements and they only decide on print heads as per requirements and economics. With Condot solutions many printers are using our printers since 2004. For all our customers Condot is a name for reliability and service,” emphasizes Jigish. The key attraction of Printpack India 2022,

according to Jigish, is the short run printers which he also calls the future of the industry. “All in all, the exhibition was organised in a good way looking at the situation and time. But if they could do it at appropriate location, looking at proper connectivity and time, joined hands with exhibitions like Paperex then it could have been altogether different,” he sums up. “Just printing a VDP will no longer make our printers grow. To grow, Indian printers have to think Printing with security and verification. Solutions have to be more software driven or interlinked with your customer supply chain. Unless printers provide the solution to their customers for their pain areas like, for example, how to resolve the problem of duplication, or how to remove spurious from the supply chain, how to retain the customers, customer loyalty program etc., no printer or packing company can grow in the long run. Condot is a partner for your innovative requirements,” concludes Jigish Chiniwala.

Interview with Mr. Katsuhisa Asari, Manish Gupta and Ashok Sethi. Konica Minolta’s strength in the market today is not just focusing on the digital prints for the commercial and packaging market but also the value add-ons which the company provides to the market. “We believe ‘converting innovative ideas into reality with our technology’ is where Konica Minolta’s strength lies in the Indian market,” says Katsuhisa (Kurt) Asari, Managing Director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions India. Being at the top of Indian print market with almost 60% market share in Digital Production Printing, the company also boasts the largest service staff in the digital printing industry giving Konica Minolta customers the confidence to invest in their products. “Unlike many other global developed markets which are saturated, the Indian market,” believes Ashok Sethi, AGM Sales, PP/IP, Konica Minolta, “is a fast growing and thriving market with the economy driving the growth of industries including printing industry. With increased activities post Covid, we see a very strong growth prospect for the entire digital printing diaspora in the country.”

All these machines have digital finishing options which not only increase productivity but also the financial viability of digital printing business. “Colour management is an inherent feature in our machines which helps in maintaining the colour consistency of the printed products,” reveals Ashok Sethi. Inline Perfect binder for digitally printed books is another new product showcased at the company’s Printpack stall. “It gives as good as a PUR quality perfect bound book which in fact has been a head turner for the printer friends passing by our stall which we are sure will be a rage amongst digital printers in the near future,” claims Ashok Sethi excitedly. Acknowledging Indian market’s strategic

importance for Konica Minolta, Asari adds, “We consider India to be the leading strategic market for Konica Minolta and my mission is how to take the Industrial Printing and Production Printing business to the next level. Of course, our strength is the exceptional operational excellence. But, apart from that we have a strong product range and even stronger technology and service network. However, we need to take another step forward to bring the business to the next level by further improving our sales & service force to excel as a total solution provider.” “Today we are no. 1 in the Indian market but this market share is not the only goal to speak of. We shall keep up with the customer first approach in the coming years too in order to retain our top position and to thrive. Of course, the growth of competition is a good thing which shows the maturity of the market and brings opportunity for all to grow, earn and to serve customers,” he concludes.

It was a pleasant experience at Konica Minolta stall at Printpack India – it was jam packed, abuzz with business activity, featuring hoards of industry people watching live demos, inquiring, meeting and adding to the effervescence of pulsating feeling of a growing community of printers and their businesses. “Accurioshine 3600 is the latest from the MGI stable that we are showing at the show with jam packed demos and interaction with present and prospective clients,” reveals Manish Gupta, General Manager Marketing – PP & IP at Konica Minolta Business Solutions India. “Printing is indeed our core area of business but to add more value to a printed product is the focus for us at this show. Value addition is the best way our customer can actually earn more money,” adds Ashok Sethi. Another highlight was the Accurio Press C7100/C7090 series, the new machines with

Speaking about the industry conditions in recent times he observes, “Prolonged Covid period has hit the industry hard with shortage of materials and price increase of everything from papers to plates to inks and chemicals. Many printers lost business. Volumes came down drastically. We could see the impact on PPI where many people especially South India visitors were less in comparison. This could be because of high prices of Air Tickets and Non availability of Train tickets.” “These problems have undoubtedly brought many of our commercial printers on the edge of closing down or switching over to packaging. Many have already started

packaging. Packaging is probably the area that shows promise for many years to come,” envisages K.J. Paul. “Besides, our Association approached the Government to apprise it of the difficulties being faced by the printers and seek financial and other assistance for the survival of printing industry,” he asserts. K.J. Aarushi Agencies demonstrates latest range of Novurania, Kris and Helios solutions NTR 150 UV means fewer blanket changes, fewer & quicker blanket wash-ups thus higher press productivity. Aarushi Agencies participated at the recent Printpack India 2022 as exclusive Channel Partners for Indian market for Novurania S.p.A, Kris and Helios. Latest in the Novurania range was the high quality UV Printing Blankets NTR 150 Phantom. Aarushi demonstrated the blanket which had been recently launched in Jan 2022 to the Printpack visitors. Speaking about the NTR 150, Ashish Sharma, MD, Aarushi Agencies, says, “The NTR 150 is well known now for its better half tone printing with excellent density and minimum dot gain. The blanket with minimum embossing is one of the easiest UV blankets to clean; embossing is an issue with many UV printing blankets available in the market today. NTR 150 stands among the longest lasting UV printing blankets in the market. Aarushi has one of the best blanket converting units in the country for barring and cutting to create blankets meeting top international standards. And this is the one of the reasons that the leading offset packaging companies in the country are continuously using our blankets for best results.” The newly developed polymer surface of NTR 150 UV resists the swelling and embossing that are common with UV. In conjunction with the new surface the NTR 150 has a special surface grind enhancing release thus minimizing UV solvent and ink penetrating the face, which is one of the biggest causes of swelling. For the printer this means fewer blanket changes, so fewer, and quicker blanket wash-ups, and thus a higher press productivity. The NTR 150 also delivers clean, sharp and consistent dots for excellent print quality as well as dense and rich solids. The NTR 150 has a totally new construction, which makes it particularly suitable for use in plastic printing and metal decorating.

its complete range of matrix including Groove – for high quality mono cartons; Isomat – Round matrix for E-fluted cartons; and NEK – U-Bend for matrix for 180 degree creasing for corrugated cartons. “The new launch Isomat Round Matrix is a very special product for Fluted cartons which solves the issue of crisscrossing while pasting cartons. We received excellent responses from customers during this Printipack for the Kris Matrix,” says Ashish Sharma. Helios, Italy showcased UV and IR lamps for leading offset machines of the likes of

economy consistently,” asserts Tushar.

“Our focus was to connect with market & share the capabilities that we can deliver to add value. We could do that to fair extent & are in touch with customers who showed interest to discover more about our offerings,” says Tushar.

He believes the venue may have been too far from the City for some visitors. “Visitors must be finding it painful to travel extra to attend expo. Besides, the May months are usually too hot and don’t make a convenient time for expo in this region,” he observes.

While 7 orders were confirmed at the show, including the 2 display machines at Emerging Graphics booth, the company also concluded some software solutions with a few customers.

Digital is the key technology of this Printpack according to Tushar. “All eyes are on digital and also short run today. We are in the age of dynamic shift of technologies already!” he states.

“There were around 350 visitors who reached us out of which around 60-70 were serious enquires & rest were visitors for general enquiries. They also won a few overseas orders including those from Qatar and also a few positive enquiries from other countries.

Emerging Graphics offered free software licenses with their digital cutters, mainly CAD software that designs the key lines & ensures optimum output of cutters at the show.

Tushar confirmed business of about Rs.50 Lacs during the show and he looked satisfied with the outcome which neared their set target for the show. “Industry is getting back to normal with considerable speed, though the economic crisis due to global issues still affects decision making and will impact it in times to come as well. However, considering domestic consumption of our economy, we are sure of keeping some pace in the

While asked about industry’s expectations from the Government, Tushar is quite clear when he says, “Control on costs and incentives to bring in positive growth is need of the hour.” Summing up his experience, Tushar says, “Such shows must be attended with open approach to witness new technologies and know how they can bring in innovation for the converters to secure their bottom lines. The show was organized well. There are some areas that need improvement like, numbering of booth seemed inadequate due to which visitors had challenges in finding booths. Utilities arrangements too have scope of improvements.”

The reproduction of the Coat of Arms depicts three rampant lions and a cross is reproduced in great detail and along with the “flourishes” surrounding the shield and the product name gives that royal feeling to the excellently printed label. The combined combination of great gold foiling and High Build varnish against a smooth matt sand coloured recycled paper meant that Gerolemo - Maratheftiko Sweet entered by Cabas S.A., Greece was selected by the panel of judges as the Best In Show winner. (This label also won the Digital Group Award at the 42nd Annual Competition.)

Group Winners The Group winners are organised into the following main groups which include A. Marketing/End Uses, B. Printing Processes, C. Non-Adhesive Applications, D. Innovation & Electronic Printing and E. Digital Printing.

Marzek Etiketten+Packaging GmbH, Austria won for Côtes du Rhône. This bright and colourful label printed digitally with a very accurately placed screen varnish in four colours, stands out for its silky appearance of the substrate adding a real touch of class to the label and projects the images of the flowers into high relief. The subtle use of hot foiling to highlight the name of the wine is excellent. A 67lpcm screen gives great definition to the main images of the flowers. The second winner was Ҫiftsan Label & Packaging Company, Turkey for Alqaissi Grill Spices. It’s a quite busy and complicated label that uses a metallised film substrate thus adding overall brightness to the label and giving the impression that gold foiling has been used. The application of matt lamination contrasts nicely with the high gloss varnish over the image of the meat. The basic printing process is digital. With this label the more you study it the more detail becomes obvious. The winner of the Printing Processes Group was Kuresa, Peru for Body Spa Conditioner. The label contains some very fine typography using an opaque white screen ink.

Robust RFID-Label. The label-integrated RFID chip is secured by the label’s special construction featuring protective printed elements. Digitisation is an emerging trend in healthcare scenarios. Robustness of the label is the key. The winner in the Digital Printing Group was CABAS S.A., Greece for Gerolemo – Maratheftiko Sweet. Shilp becomes 1st Esko-accredited platemaking specialist in India Flexographic platemaking specialist Shilp Gravures achieves best in class XPS certification. Flexographic platemaking specialist Shilp Gravures has become the first company in India to receive best in class certification under the XPS Crystal Program from Esko. One of Asia’s largest gravure cylinder makers, Shilp Gravures moved into flexographic plate manufacturing in 2008. Having worked with Esko and used the company’s integrated software and hardware solutions for more than 25 years, the company installed the industry leading Esko CDI Crystal and XPS plate imager and exposure solution at its facility in Rakanpur, near Ahmedabad, Gujarat. “We have worked with the team at Shilp Gravures for a number of years, since before they moved into flexo plate manufacturing,” said Murad Kalal, Esko Regional Sales Manager. “Following their commitment and investment to digitize and automate their processes to ensure the best quality plates for their customers, it is only fitting that they are the first company in India to achieve this certification,” he adds. “The XPS Crystal Program was developed to recognize those businesses that consistently produce superior plates, which lead to superior flexographic print quality. This certification underlines the professionalism and dedication to excellence of the Shilp Gravures flexographic team and recognizes their commitment to producing the very highest quality plates,” continues Murad.

increasing customer demand, to further improve productivity, and in turn customer satisfaction levels, Shilp Gravures sought to adopt a more efficient workflow. “We were looking to maximize output in terms of productivity while also reducing errors, waste and operator time,” said Mr Bhavsar. He explained that the combination of the Esko CDI Crystal 5080 with the XPS Crystal 5080 enabled Shilp Gravures to streamline its flexo platemaking with a far more efficient workflow. “The CDI Crystal 5080 XPS delivers huge benefits to us,” said Mr Bhavsar. “We have reduced manual steps, reduced errors which means less plate waste, and reduced the amount of operator time,” he said. “Now instead of needing to send a flexo plate through as many as seven individual manual steps, a coordinated, linear process makes things incredibly simple, and fast. We can now expose six to eight colour wide-web plates at a time.” “With our complete Esko set-up, we are able to supply flexo plates even faster with unmatched relief, image consistency and perfectly formed flat-top dots,” he said. “Achieving the gold standard Crystal XPS Certification was the logical next step for us.”

The XPS Crystal Certification Program is open to all users of the innovative Esko XPS Crystal exposure unit, the award-winning technology which optimally combines UV main and back exposure, using LEDs that always emit consistent UV light. As a certified Esko partner, Shilp Gravures benefits from benchmarking and identification of best practice around quality control processes and production efficiency. Certification also enables the business to promote an extra level of quality assurance to customers, as well as providing reassurance of best practice in production processes and communicating the consistent quality of final print. “The XPS Crystal Certification Program was developed to ensure the entire supply chain can meet the exacting needs and requirements of brands and converters in terms of predictable and accurate plate quality and the highest plate making consistency available, for any given photopolymer,” added Murad Kalal. “Shilp Gravures is leading the way in delivering to these highest of standards, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize that through this certification program.”

Mr Gajanan Bhavsar, Marketing Director with Shilp Gravures, said the company has worked hard to develop a strong relationship and reputation during its more than 30 years in business. “This has led to us being a leading supplier to the industry,” said Mr Bhavsar. “We have a very strong, experienced workforce that understands our clients’ requirements and adapts quickly to new trends and technologies. While this makes us a preferred supplier of plates, it also means that we are under constant pressure to deliver large volumes of quality plates, as quickly as possible.” In order to continue meeting the ever-

Premier Process boosts plate production 40% with Cron CtP upgrade Nippon Color installs Cron CtP at Lucknow based pre-press bureau which replaces their existing CtP to reap straight 40% increase in plate production.

“Till now we have been using 2 Kodak CTPs. Now we have added Cron and given one of the Kodak devices as buy-back. The Cron machine is much faster and allows us to increase production.” – Susheel Ratlani, Premier Process.

Key Notes : > The installed Cron TP-46128G+ can produce 49 plates per hour of up to 1030 mm size. > Premier’s long relationship with Nippon Color played a major role in finalizing the latest investment. > Boosts daily plate production by 140 plates per day.

Lucknow based Premier Process has recently invested in a Cron Thermal 128 channel CTP (Model: TP-46128G+). This is the latest redesigned model with new appearance, integrated output device, user friendly control interface and brand-new touch panel operation bring a friendlier human-computer interaction and experience. The machine has been installed by Nippon Color. The Cron Thermal CtP at Premier is capable of producing 49 plates per hour and supports plate size of up to 1030 mm. Key Features include: Square dot imaging, accurate dot reproduction with minimum error rate ≤1%, plate making resolution ranging of 1800/2400/2540/2800 dpi, suitable for AM/FM/ Hybrid screening ≥ 300 lines per inch, 10-micron FM screening print. Additionally, higher resolutions of 9600/10160 dpi can be upgraded to meet up with exquisite printing. Premier Process specializes in book production and producing all types of jobs as well as plates for institutional and government sectors. The company ensures high accuracy in production to reduce errors and mistake by having specific department to check and preflight the job before production. This not only has enabled them to eradicate mistakes both for in-house jobs and clients but also ensured that the end product comes out flawless. Quality of production is of paramount importance for a team of 18 employees of the Premier which produces about 80,000 to 100,000 sq.mtrs of plates every year. The annual turnover of Premier Process stands at approx. Rs.4Cr. The company is led by Mr. Susheel Ratlani who handles its complete operations and business.

A long standing relationship with Nippon Color pays off Their choice of the latest Cron CtP was somewhat instant. Besides the capabilities like maximum plate size, speed and quality, their long relationship with Nippon Color played a major role. “Apart from the supported plate size, speed, quality, service support and warranty that made us to go for the Cron CtP, we actually didn’t feel the need to look for any other machine. Our strong trust in and relation with Mr. Jayant Pardiwala was enough for us to not waste time and energy looking for something else in the market. We are replacing one of our Kodak CtPs, which too had been provided by Nippon,” reasons Susheel Ratlani. Book publishing for institutional and government sectors is the key area of markets being catered to by Premier Process which houses two Katana Imagesetters, one Xerox Versant 280 Color Production Printer, one Xerox D95 Mono Production Printer, one Kodak Trendsetter CtP lined up with Glunz & Jensen Processor and Baking Oven. “Till now we have been using 2 Kodak CTPs. Now we have added Cron and given one of the Kodak devices as buy-back. The Cron machine is much faster and allows us to increase production,” informs Susheel. Explaining further, he says, “A new machine with extended warranty on both Laser and Machine ensured me many trouble-free years ahead on this machine. Besides it having increased production capacity and online integration, the most important part was its capability to handle 940mmx1016mm size which was a particular requirement for us. Earlier,

pressideas/ plc

we had to do this size only on VLF machines and even Kodak 8UP wasn’t able to handle them. But, now it is possible with our new Cron machine.” It is not only their Cron that Susheel is quite satisfied about, but he is full of praise for their association with Nippon Color. “Our association with Nippon is 12 years now and we have always found Mr. Jayant Pardiwala and his team as personally dedicated towards support and service to clients. We never think twice when it comes to either buying new equipment from them or seeking support for the existing one,” he affirms. “This machine is much convenient in production as the plate load and unload system is almost as good as having an autoloader machine without even having the attachment. In addition, Nippon Color made sure that our operators as well as I received adequate training during the installation,” reveals Susheel. Premier Process has enormously benefitted from the Cron installation, especially in production volume boost. Earlier they used to produce 35 plates per Kodak CtP for 1030 format. The Cron CtP gave a boost of straight 40% with its 49 plates per hour speed. This clearly gave them a total volume increase from 700 plates to 840 plates per day as also improving their plate delivery times for clients. “The increased volumes also allow us to serve our clients with faster production,” avers Susheel.

“A faster machine always reduces cost per plate production in terms of man-power and electric consumption. And definitely team of Nippon took thorough time during installation procedures to ensure our requirement for perfect reproduction of dots and plate quality. So with this new investment Nippon Color enabled us to make savings in terms of wastage, manpower, and accuracy in terms of percentage or lesser rejections etc.,” he adds. Though the Cron CtP can run any thermal plate, Premier Process is 100% working with Technova plates – the ATHENA and ELITE variant. “We took Covid as a challenge as it was a testing time for all. That challenge we converted as opportunity to work towards gaining more volumes and also to enhance our services. This is when we decided to upgrade our 2nd Kodak with the Cron and as a result also increased our production capacity,” concludes Susheel Ratlani. Nippon Color has been providing innovative solutions to the industry since the camera age. They are one of the market leaders supplying pre-press equipment and CTP plates. “We have seen the transition of technologies, from cameras to scanners to imagesetters and now to CTP machines, happening in front of our eyes and have given a hand-holding to numerous customers in this journey,” says Akshat Pardiwala, COO, Nippon Color.

“We feel blessed to have customers who continuously put their faith in us and trust our solutions and service,” adds Akshat. Nippon Color has now added various digital solutions in their portfolio to assist their customers to transition from traditional analog to digital printing and finishing. It has partnered with Konica Minolta for the Industrial Solutions which include MGI Spot UV Varnish and Foiling equipment, and AccurioJet KM-1e which is a digital full colour B2 size sheet-fed LED UV Inkjet press that offers print professionals’ infinite possibilities. They have also added digital label printing & finishing solutions in their portfolio. “While offset and pre-press remain our foundation, we are now focusing more and more on digital solutions,” says Akshat. “To talk specifically about Cron, we have seen the brand grow from a small factory to becoming the largest CTP manufacturer in Asia, or possibly the world, with a formidable portfolio of products which span the entire digital prepress spectrum including UV, thermal, large format CTP, and even Flexo CTP,” he states. With more than 20 patents in its portfolio, Cron is one of the leaders in developing technologies for the graphic communications industry. “We have installed several hundreds of Cron CTP machines in India,” says Akshat.
