2 October 2014

The annual meeting of The Club Members will be held at 6pm on November 12, 2014. In Addition to the normal agenda items, the Board of Directors will propose a number of revisions to the club by-laws. These changes are the recommendations of a board working group that studied our club’s history, the best practices of other clubs, and contemporary business practices. Included in the proposed by-law modifications are a number of minor clarifications, more substantial revisions focused on leadership continuity, improved long range planning requirements, and additional details on the process of changing membership classes. The revisions are summarized below, and complete information about these changes will be distributed well in advance of the annual meeting.

Bill Smith Club President

1. The by-laws are currently silent on the President serving more than one year, and traditionally one year terms have been common. Revisions are proposed allowing a President to be elected by the board for up to three consecutive one year terms. 2. Presidents Council members will serve on the Long Range Planning committee. 3. Clarifying statements have been added making it clear that voting members constitute a quorum and can call a meeting of the members. 4. Email is added as an acceptable method to notify members in addition to regular mail. 5. A number of sections are changed and several new sections have been added to document the process of changing membership classes. 6. Many detail changes have been made to correct grammar issues and provide consistent use of terms. Our club has enjoyed another strong cash positive fiscal year and is well positioned for our continued success. However, all organizations need to adapt and change for growth and prosperity. In conclusion, the board believes the proposed by-law changes can provide leadership continuity, future planning, and process guidance to meet the challenges ahead. Sincerely, Bill Smith

Meridian Hills Country Club Annual Meeting The Club’s Annual Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Please join us following the meeting for complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Dinner reservations will be available in all dining facilities as well. Call Member Services at 255-2496 to make dining reservations.

Membership Chairman Update

I want to personally welcome Megan Christman to Meridian Hills as our Membership Director. Stop by the front desk area and introduce yourself to Megan. The Membership Committee has spent a lot of time to help us recruit new members into our club. Simply put, membership is the lifeblood of the club. Retaining and attracting new members to Meridian Hills is essential to making our club the best in Indiana. We have a great junior golf membership available and a brand new junior tennis membership program! Anyone who has a refundable certificate may redeem them through the end of the year by sponsoring a new member to the club. Search your memory of family, friends and business colleagues to think of who may benefit from any of these tremendous offers, then make an appointment or stop by and discuss them with Megan. October is a busy month so be sure to check the calendar of events online at www.meridianhillscc.org and the MHCC App for all of the great activities at the club. Come out and enjoy what Meridian Hills has to offer! Sincerely, Tom Foster 3 October 2014

The 411 on the Fall Golf Season

As the official golf season has ended, tee times have concluded and all our busy calendar for organized golf events has come to an end. We want to provide a few reminders below: - Tuesday – Sunday the 1st tee opens or play at 9am each day - Monday afternoon play has concluded. The facilities are Closed all day - Tee times are no longer needed on the weekends - The order of play is first come, first serve - Please call or email the golf shop so we can prepare for you and get your bags ready - On busy afternoons, your professional staff will work to start groups on different holes - The dress code still remains in effect (no denim allowed, collared shirts still required) - If the temperature dips below 40* it is likely that we will have a Frost Delay. When this occurs, we can’t allow foot traffic on all turf surfaces until the frost dies off. The golf shop will be proactive in letting you know when these mornings occur during the Fall.
