THE HIGHLIGHTS
Glaciers close enough to touch
Your first hiking stage heads off from the Corvatsch middle station as far as the picturesque Val Roseg. Here you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view across a gigantic arena composed of ice and cliffs – a silent witness to the last Ice Age. TIP: in the Val Roseg, you can complete the final stretch more comfortably with a traditional local horse-drawn carriage.
A view of the Engadin Lake Plateau
On the second stage you’ll go from Pontresina via Lej Muragl as far as Muottas Muragl. A wonderful panoramic trail with unbelievable views of the Engadin lakes and Bernina massif. TIP: Keep your eyes peeled! With a bit of luck, you might catch a glimpse of the Grisons’ emblematic ibex – or maybe even a herd of them!
In the footsteps of Schellen-Ursli
The next two stages take you past typical Engadin villages. High above the Inn river you’ll come across the Lower Engadin village of Guarda – welcome to the home of Schellen-Ursli, the hero of a popular Swiss children’s book! Guarda is not only steeped in history but is also an architectural gem!
Stop off in the Swiss National Park
From the mining region of Val Mingèr (Miners’ Valley) to the nature reserve that has been left to its own devices – where the last bear in Switzerland was sighted in 1904 and where today numerous red deer can be observed – here, Mother Nature shines in all her splendour!
