Martyn’s Law
Promised for this spring, the draft of ‘Martyn’s Law,’ previously known as The Protect Duty, is still to be published. The law, made in tribute to Martyn Hett, who was killed alongside 21 others in the Manchester Arena terrorist attack in 2017, will ensure that security preparedness is delivered consistently across the UK, providing better public protection.
The new law is set to transform antiterrorism measures for businesses from a voluntary engagement into a compulsory duty. Every organisation that owns or occupies commercial premises will likely be affected by the new terrorism law, regardless of whether it receives visitors or considers hosting public events.

Hikvision launches Varifocal Network Cameras with ColorVu
By changing the camera’s focal length, varifocal cameras can be used for various situations, simplifying inventory management. Hikvision varifocal cameras with ColorVu are designed with fixed F1.0 large aperture. The image brightness will be guaranteed regardless of whether your camera zooms in or out.
Using ColorVu technology, colour images are rendered with vibrant, vivid detail even in dimly lit conditions, even down to 0.0003 lux – that’s as dim as a moonless
night under the stars. It is through these two advanced features that make it possible to intensify even the most minimal ambient light with incredible results:
Hanwha Techwin presents new thermal range
Hanwha Techwin Europe has introduced three new additions to its Wisenet T series, the TNOL3030T, TNO-L4030T, and TNO-L4030TR. The thermal cameras have a low frame rate of 8fps, so they do not fall under Regulation (EU) 2021/821 and the Wassenaar Arrangement, so they can be delivered quickly. They come with a maximum of 320×240 (QVGA) and 640×480 (VGA) resolution support and a built-in 13.7/13 mm fixed lens.
The thermal cameras deliver clear day and night detection and the ability to visually monitor the temperature of scenes with vivid colour palettes and on-screen displays. Ideal for manufacturing and industrial facilities, air and seaports and mining areas, the devices work in challenging weather such as fog, smoke and rain, and different lighting conditions, including complete darkness and backlit areas. Images are in high contrast to clearly show temperature differences between objects and backgrounds so that users can detect incidents more easily. This helps to make unseen details visible without additional lighting.
AI and cloud are essential for enhanced security collaboration, says Hexagon
Quick-response security teams need to be agile when managing emergency response in security command centres and collaborating with public safety agencies. Multiple-faceted public safety incidents require automatic and immediate response due to their complexity, scale, and unexpected nature.
Both during and after an emergency, teams need help sifting through so much data to uncover insights. To accomplish this, agencies will need modern technologies
to facilitate real-time collaboration, integration, and high-level communication.
According to Francisco Urdaz, Director of Business Development at Hexagon’s Safety, the solution lies on utilising artificial intelligence (AI) and the Cloud.
Currently, security and public safety agencies are either constrained by data silos or overwhelmed with information. By sharing data between organisations, agencies can alleviate these challenges by breaking down silos and providing staff with greater access to relevant information. AI ensures they receive the right data at the right time so they don’t feel overwhelmed.
The BSIA accredits Texecom for cyber security
Texecom’s Digital Services platforms have received Cyber Security Product Assurance Group (CySPAG) accreditation from the BSIA.
CySPAG was created in 2017 by the BSIA to ensure that cybersecurity products entering the market are of the best quality.
Following a strict assessment procedure to meet a set criteria level, Texecom Cloud Services, Texecom Connect (application), Texecom Monitor, and Texecom SmartCom all successfully received the CySPAG accreditation is valid for 12 months before
it is renewed to meet the latest cyber requirements.
Cybersecurity features are considered and tested alongside other product functions throughout the product development process, following the secure development lifecycle. This reduces the number and severity of any potential security flaws in the product before it enters the market.
Additionally, cybersecurity best practice processes are assessed, including ensuring that all default passwords are unique and that multi-factor authentication is used to minimise attack surfaces.
To receive CySPAG accreditation, Texecom had to demonstrate effective and efficient communication policies for security updates and a pro-active vulnerability disclosure policy
