Texecom Monitor software delivers reliability
Texecom has continuously demonstrated a commitment to innovation, and Texecom Monitor stands out by offering unparalleled analytics and software capabilities and empowering users with a comprehensive and intelligent security solution. We spoke to Hugh Devereux, Head of Product Management at Texecom, to find out why Texecom Monitor should win the Analytics and Software Innovation Award at the Benchmark Innovation Awards, where it’s one of the finalists.
Benchmark Magazine: How does the userfriendly interface of Texecom Monitor software simplify complex analytics and software functionalities for users?
BM: Could you elaborate on the remote accessibility features of Texecom Monitor software and how it enables continuous monitoring and control from anywhere?
HD: Texecom Monitor and Texecom Cloud are all cloud-based services hosted on Amazon Web Server (AWS) and managed by the Texecom team. Installers can check the operation of their sites at any time by connecting to the Cloud from anywhere, using a secure encrypted and multi-factor authenticated connection, ensuring that installers can offer customer support remotely from anywhere in the world.
BM: How does Texecom Monitor software ensure reliability and trustworthiness in providing robust security solutions?
HD: Texecom Monitor is a service hosted on a multi-redundant platform on AWS. It has an uptime of over 99.998%. The service connections to ARCs are all dual paths with separate endpoints, these are monitored automatically, and any failure alerts are managed by the Texecom team 24/7. If we detect a path failure, one of the Operations teams will call the ARC and establish the cause and ensure that actions are in place to ensure the service remains operational. Each ARC is obviously responsible for ensuring that its service is operational.
Hugh Devereux: Texecom Monitor uses the Texecom Cloud Installer portal to enable Installers to quickly link Sites directly to ARCs without worrying about connectivity routing, IP networks or addresses. The customer can make the site application to the ARC directly through the Installer portal, and the ARC is then ready to receive the connection when the Engineer visits the site. A single six-digit App Code enables the alarm system to be connected to the Cloud, and then Texecom Cloud automatically connects them to the ARC of their choice. Monitoring of the connection is managed, so there is no configuration required.
The SmartCom 4G provides dual redundant signalling, with each path being monitored continuously in line with EN50136 grade category requirements. The SmartCom 4G is also self-monitoring and ensures that it will identify an alternative path in the event of a single path failure. Equipped with a roaming service SIM, ensuring if data comms is not possible on the registered network, it will automatically switch to an alternative network rapidly and then attempt to signal again.
The key benefit of Texecom Monitor is in the unparalleled Texecom Cloud service that enables regular automated remote servicing through the Health Check function and easy-to-use remote user and system management from the Installer portal, all bundled together.
BM: What kind of customer support, training and maintenance services does Texecom offer for Texecom Monitor software users?
HD: Texecom provides technical training in person or online courses covering on-site installation, Premier Elite systems, and Texecom Digital Services as a whole.

TAKEX TXF-20TDM twin beam security sensor
Being battery-powered, the need for trenching, cabling and associated civil/ groundworks costs are negated, making the solution highly versatile for use in areas where ‘hard-wired’ solutions are impractical or impossible.
There is no compromise by using a batterypowered solution, as TXF-20TDM uses the same Double Modulated technology found in the rest of the TAKEX range, ensuring excellent white light immunity from sunlight (direct and reflected), vehicle headlights and other intense sources.
The battery-operated TXF-20TDM Twin Beam from TAKEX is designed to integrate with leading wireless systems to create rapid deployment, temporary or permanent intruder detection systems and is a finalist in this year’s Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023 on the Alarm/Detection
Comprising of a Transmitter and Receiver, the beam ‘set’ is easily aligned using improved optical sights, an audible tone, and voltage monitoring jacks to finalise the finetuning, ensuring the best possible alignment and producing the optimal result.
With 190° horizontal and +/- 10° vertical adjustment, the TXF-20TDM can be customised to work in the most challenging locations whilst maintaining system integrity, and the twin beam arrangement ensures that environmental issues such as bird and falling leaves don’t create ‘nuisance alarms’.
With an external range of up to 20m, the TXF-20TDM offers four channel selections, allowing beams to be stacked or used in linear installations without fear of ‘crosstalk interference’, and the response time can be customised to cater for different applications and requirements.
The weatherproof IP55 housing ensures the TXF-20TDM can be used in the harshest of conditions, and the very low current consumption means that using just two batteries in each unit, up to three years of battery life, can be expected.
The TXF-20TDM is typically installed across driveways, and shutters, along fences and used in sites where rapid deployment or temporary coverage without compromise is required, such as building sites, vehicle storage, and scaffolding, to name but a few.
Intratone’s SC03 Intercom: A Comprehensive Solution for Remote Visitor Management
No matter how many residential units your building houses, Intratone’s SC-03 intercom makes it possible to manage them remotely, in real time, without needing to rewire or install handsets.
Intratone’s SC-03 Intercom has a mobile app integration and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology. The mobile app enables residents to grant or decline property access via audio or video calls on their preferred device –wherever they are. GSM is an open and digital cellular technology for transmitting mobile voice and data services. This means the intercom can use roaming to find the most efficient, readily available network and transmit and store the video and two-way audio at the best possible quality.
A finalist for the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023 in the Visitors Management Innovation category, the Intratone SC-03 intercom is recognised for Its innovative design, advanced features, and straightforward user interface that reduce operational costs and enhance overall security.
Leveraging Intratone’s cloud-based platform, the SC-03 Intercom allows authorised users to manage visitor access remotely. Residents and administrators can grant or deny access to visitors through their smartphones or any internet-enabled device, providing unparalleled convenience and control.
Administrators can monitor visitor traffic and analyse trends using data collected by the SC-03 Intercom. Managers can use this data to optimise resources. For instance, if the cleaners are usually scheduled to visit at a certain time and date, this can be preestablished in the system, enhancing the property’s security protocols and allowing them to make informed decisions. If needed, managers can also allocate a one-time passcode for specific visitors.
The SC-03 Intercom seamlessly integrates with existing access control systems, making it highly adaptable to diverse environments.

The four-channel box that provides a fully operational AI surveillance solution
Implementing AI video surveillance when you have a small to medium project might feel a bit like overkill. We know that AI-powered video analytics can generate real-time alerts and notifications, based on predefined rules or anomalies. And it’s proven that this can save significant time and prevent pointless alarms. Using AI video as a proactive tool not only helps to minimise response times, it increases the chances of preventing losses and damage in the first place.
However, most users won’t want to invest in expensive software or enterprise-level multiple-channel NVRs – so if your requirements are for smaller installs – such as retailers, hospitality venues, schools, offices handling sensitive data, or businesses that want extra protection for high-risk zones such as entrances, and high-value goods areas – then IDIS’ AI Box for surveillance is the answer.
IDIS’ AI Box for surveillance, the DV1304-A, nominated as a finalist at the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023, Surveillance Innovation (CCTV) category, fills the gap in the market for entry-level to medium sized applications by providing a scalable four-channel option at a fraction of the price of other modes of AI, making it easier to harness the power of deep learning analytics.
While the number of camera inputs for each box is four, this AI Box is scalable, license-free and comes pre-installed with the IDIS Deep Learning Engine that delivers up to 98% accuracy. It’s ideal for multi-branch retailers and small-sized businesses that want to strengthen security, and eliminate the hassle of false alarms. And for medium-sized applications users can scale by adding more boxes to encompass up to 32-channels.
As with other AI-powered video surveillance systems, the DV-1304-A provides advanced analytics features, such as object, loitering, intrusion, and face detection, as well as line crossing. These features allow users to extract valuable insights from video feeds, enhancing security and operational efficiency. The NDAA-Compliant DV-1304-A is also optimised to minimise storage and bandwidth requirements while enabling highly efficient event searches to speed up investigations.
The DV-1304-A delivers immediate notifications when specific events occur, or the system detects suspicious activities using either the cost-free, full-featured IDIS Center or enterprise-class IDIS Solution Suite VMS and IDIS mobile apps. With the IDIS Deep Learning Engine pre-installed, the box can be easily connected to the latest IDIS NVRs.
The new IDIS AI Box for Surveillance also offers a scalable and modular approach that allows customers to start with a smaller setup and gradually expand their system to accommodate additional cameras with AI video analytics capabilities. Users also benefit from IDIS DirectIP® true plug-and-play technology, which ensures quick and easy deployment of additional boxes, cameras, and network recorders that all seamlessly connect – keeping installation costs low, streamlining cybersecurity, and ensuring simple maintenance.
As a result of seamless connectivity, no ongoing license fees, trusted NDAA-compliant equipment, and extended warranties, IDIS tech delivers a low total cost of ownership (TCO) and gives small to medium businesses affordable AI-powered analytics allowing a proactive approach to increasing security and safety.
Eagle Eye Smart Video Search finds the needle in the haystack
Eagle Eye Smart Video Search is Eagle Eye Networks’ answer to how to search for exact video footage intuitively and easily. The company compares its Smart Video Search to the Google search engine we are all familiar with.
Indeed, Smart Video Search and Google have similarities. Both are built to perform efficient and accurate searches. While Google focuses on searching the vast expanse of the internet to deliver personalised results, Eagle Eye’s Smart Video Search specialises in searching through video footage to recognise objects, people and vehicles. Both platforms are user-friendly and aim to provide users with relevant results quickly and with minimal effort.
However, while there are similarities between Smart Video Search and Google’s search engine, they serve different purposes and target different markets. Smart Video Search is a specialised tool for searching and analysing video footage in the context of video surveillance and security applications.
The Smart Video Search feature, introduced in 2022, is a finalist at the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023 for the Analytics and Software category.
Eagle Eye’s Smart Video Search uses artificial intelligence to make searching for a video as simple as searching for a video on the web. By simply typing in terms like “man with red shirt”, “red Vauxhall car”, or “woman carrying a backpack”, customers can search across all the cameras at all locations to find exactly the video they are looking for and can share video clips as quickly as they can find them.
Smart Video Search helps business owners and security directors enhance security and safety measures. It can quickly identify and alert users about potential security threats or suspicious activities. The results of any search can be downloaded and shared straight away.
Advanced video analytics enable quick and precise searches within video footage. This significantly reduces the time and effort required for manual video review. With Smart Video Search, business owners can find specific events or objects in large volumes of video data without spending hours or days manually “scrubbing video”.
Being a cloud-based solution, Smart Video Search allows users to access video footage from anywhere with an internet connection. This convenience and accessibility facilitates remote monitoring and management of video data, cameras and locations. The feature is available globally to all Eagle Eye Cloud VMS (video management system) customers with no extra hardware, installation or subscription fees.
Cloud-based solutions also provide scalability, enabling businesses to adapt and expand their video surveillance needs as their requirements grow.
Dean Drako, Founder and CEO of Eagle Eye Networks, said, “With Eagle Eye Smart Video Search, we are helping security professionals solve one of the biggest challenges in their work: finding the exact video they need during or after a security incident.”
The AI-powered analytics of Eagle Eye Smart Video Search can provide valuable insights and trends extracted from the video data. These insights can be used to optimise business operations, improve customer experience, and enhance overall decisionmaking processes.

This integration uses the capabilities of Apple Wallet, such as biometric authentication, encryption, and secure storage, to enhance access control systems.
HID is a finalist in two categories in the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023: “Visitor Management”, with their Employee Badge in Apple Wallet, and “Innovator of the Year”. We asked Jaroslav Barton, HID Product Director, why this solution is worthy of the BIA2023 award.
“HID Mobile Access started its industry revolution 10 years ago. Now that mobile devices are essential components of most people’s daily lives, and because people always have their devices with them, leveraging them to access places and move around different parts of the building makes sense in terms of convenience and security,” explains Barton.
Using Employee Badge in Apple Wallet, employees can easily manage their credentials, eliminating the need to carry physical badges or keycards to access their workplace and beyond. This streamlined experience enhances user satisfaction and productivity.
HID Mobile Access with Employee Badge in Apple Wallet deserves consideration for an innovation award due to several compelling reasons:
Enhanced security: Biometric authentication, such as Face ID or Touch ID on iPhone adds an extra layer of security to verify the user’s identity. Additionally, the encryption technologies used in Apple Wallet ensure the secure storage and transmission of digital credentials.
Frictionless Experience: Thanks to NFC technology, users can access places quickly and safely. It’s as easy and secure as they’re used to contactless paying with Apple Pay.
Streamlined security: With Employee Badge in Apple Wallet, key distribution and management across the entire company are streamlined as there is no need to print physical keys for employees or guests.
Convenience and Uninterrupted Access: If the user’s iPhone needs a charge, their badge will still work for up to five hours with Power Reserve. With Express Mode, users don’t need to wake or unlock their device to use their employee badge — they can simply tap their device
Protection on lost or stolen devices: If the device is lost or stolen The Find My app allows users to lock or locate the lost or stolen device to help locate their device, as well as suspend or remotely erase their badge.
Reduced costs: Adopting HID Mobile Access with Apple Wallet eliminates the need for producing and distributing physical badges, reducing associated costs such as printing, maintenance, and replacement. This shift to digital credentials also aligns with sustainability goals by reducing plastic waste.
Improved efficiency and scalability: Remote management and updating of credentials are possible through HID Origo cloud platform. The modular, multilayered secure infrastructure is validated by industry-leading certifications and fully committed to via HID’s service level agreements and support. Using Origo’s cloudconnected access control devices, applications, and trusted mobile identities, organisations can enhance security, improve workplace efficiency, and scale their access control infrastructure.
“This solution allows organisations to sort out multiple cards, passes, and tickets in one digital wallet. This flexibility allows organisations to accommodate access credentials, including employee badges, event tickets, and transit passes, in a convenient platform,” Jaroslav adds.
Through the HID Origo cloud solution, IT departments or security teams can easily issue or revoke access, update access permissions, and monitor activity, reducing administrative overhead and ensuring efficient access control management.
Plastic waste can also be drastically minimised.
“The mobile solution makes it a very sustainable option, as plastic cards would not be required,” Jaroslav concludes.

This is why it’s important for the engineer and companies that work with us, and for ourselves, that WebeyeCMS is overwhelmingly resilient. Some people think it’s overkill, but our users beg to differ.
“Webeye’s infrastructure is built around resiliency, every server is scalable and load balanced, so if there is ever an issue – the infrastructure automatically responds and protects incoming alarm traffic. This allows us to handle hundreds of thousands of videos every day and send them to users as quickly as 1 second after receiving them.”
WebeyeCMS evolves with the changing security landscape, ensuring users benefit from the latest advancements and features. Its innovative approach, reliability, and comprehensive feature set have attracted a substantial user base and established it as a trusted and respected solution provider.
Chris concluded, “We are constantly updating the system, which happens without the client having to do anything about it. Just this June, we added several features to webeyeCMS v3.6.8, such as a tamper alarms report (Group/Site reporting) and the ability to view videos from the Video Signals report, where previously you could only download them. We also fixed a bug with full-screen zooming when viewing videos/LiveLink.”
WebeyeCMS brings strengths and value to the market, making it a strong contender for an innovation award.

CarDefender extends the reach of your security solution outside your front door
Over 123,000 vehicles of all types were stolen between September 2021 and 2022, according to the Office of National Statistics. That’s a shocking increase of 29% from the previous 12month period.
Where older vehicles are targeted with traditional smash-and-grab techniques, modern cars are being stolen with more sophisticated techniques, using keyless technology to trick the car into thinking the key is present and operational. Keyless thefts are twice as likely to happen, and it can take as little as 60 seconds.
Recognising the worrying rate at which vehicle theft has increased over the last couple of years, Pyronix set out to develop a steadfast solution. Having conferred with security industry professionals and conducted thorough market research, the company determined that a one-of-a-kind, brand-new-to-market product that works in conjunction with their existing systems was the way forward – and the CarDefender was created.
CarDefender has been nominated as a finalist at this year’s Benchmark Innovation Award in the Alarm/Detection innovation category (click on the link to vote for CarDefender).
The revolutionary device connects with the home alarm system when in wireless range of the control panel to deliver immediate notification straight to the user’s mobile phone via HomeControl2.0 in the event of attempted theft, allowing preventative action to be taken as soon as possible.
The CarDefender features a three-axis accelerometer and is configurable with three detection modes. It can be set to detect shock or tilt, triggering for shock only, tilt only, or if
either shock or tilt is detected. These detection modes identify shock or movement caused by intruders attempting to gain entry to the vehicle or movement of the steering wheel, for example. Vehicles are often parked away from properties, so the device has been developed with this in mind. The CarDefender is added to the system as an unsupervised zone, enabling it to be driven outside of the wireless range without causing a fault. By allocating it to an area of its own, the device adheres to all necessary standards and protocols to enable the full system to remain Grade 2 compliant. When returning to the property, the device wakes within 5 minutes, or the user can manually do this using the handy Back to Home button on the front of the device.
Moreover, the CarDefender is a particularly versatile solution as it delivers for multiple use cases. With its conformally coated PCB (ideal for changeable environments), a specially designed, brightly-coloured silicone rubber mount and the option to secure with the 3M tape provided, the device can be fitted to a range of assets, including vans, caravans, bikes, motorcycles and more.
With a one-year battery life, a two-year warranty and HomeControl2.0 connectivity, the CarDefender provides professional installers with something completely unique, helping them to differentiate themselves in the marketplace and add value to their offering.
A.I. Tech introduces AI-Intrusion analytics for optic CCTV and thermal cameras
AI-Intrusion is a video analytics application by A.I. Tech that can work both on optic CCTV and thermal cameras to provide advanced object filtering and rules to reduce the number of false positives in many scenarios.
AI-Intrusion is also a finalist in the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023 in the Analytics and Software Innovation category.
Alessia Saggese, Co-Owner at A.I. Tech, explains how the system works: “The object detected can be filtered considering their pixel size; however, the solution provides an easy calibration procedure for filtering objects based on their real size in metres, enabling the user to control the perspective in the scene accordingly. One of the most important aspects of a filter is the ability to filter objects based on their aspect. There is, in fact, the possibility of using a classifier based on a deep neural network to confirm that the detected object is not an animal but rather a person. As a result, one can filter out objects that are not humans or vehicles.”
AI-Intrusion allows the user to configure different types of virtual sensors:
Area sensor or loitering: A sensor can be configured to notify of intrusions or loitering alarms if an object of interest remains within the area beyond a specified minimum period.
Single line sensor: Detect the intrusion of a person who crosses a virtual border determined in advance within a predetermined area.
Multiple line sensor: A tool for detecting the intrusion of a person crossing several virtual lines (not necessarily in parallel) for a certain period of time.
Two configurations can be automatically switched using a timetable. This functionality enables a user to configure different sensors or filtering at different times of the day
Two new features
Visualisation of intruders on a virtual map. This advanced view allows a human operator to track the movement of intruders over a map combining the information coming from different video streams processed by AI-Intrusion. No matter how many cameras are under analysis.
GPS coordinates of intruders: The application can be configured to provide, as additional metadata, the GPS position of objects involved in alarms.
“AI Intrusion is very beneficial for companies that require a system to monitor perimeters and forbidden areas of industrial buildings automatically, day and night,” says Alessia
A.I. Tech’s AI-Intrusion is designed to detect intrusions in real-time using the latest AI algorithms. It can detect objects such as humans,
Saggese. “Without this solution, they would need people to patrol these areas and monitor them both remotely and in person. The solution may reduce the number of people required and avoid exposing them directly to potential threats.
A surveillance company may use this solution in conjunction with its VMS and PSIM to help operators while monitoring many cameras connected to them. In this way, the latter may pay attention only to those cameras for which the application has notified an alarm. Moreover, since fewer people are required to monitor the same site, the company may be able to scale its business and monitor more sites.
AI-Intrusion UX
A new version of AI-Intrusion is available as a ready-to-install installation package for a range of surveillance cameras manufactured by Hanwha Vision, i-Pro, and Axis, as well as already being available for cameras of the 7th series from Mobotix.
Packages are also available that can be used on servers and embedded devices.
Finally, AI-Intrusion is distributed on the AIApp, a ready-to-use hardware box to be installed on a network and provide video analytics capabilities to new and preinstalled cameras. There are also manuals, tutorials and academies available on the A.I. Tech web portal ( https://help.aitech.vision ) for users to learn how to configure the solution and get assistance on how to set up the system.
Connecting the Dots with IQ Wi-Fi 6
Wi-Fi 6, the successor to Wi-Fi 5, is a powerful wireless protocol designed to enhance Wi-Fi connections in areas with many devices requiring connectivity. With its greater potential area coverage and mesh network compatibility alongside uniquely efficient throughput, even large-scale areas utilizing Wi-Fi 6 experience less network congestion and faster connection speeds.
As security systems increasingly support wireless and IoT devices, Wi-Fi 6 provides a robust option for any location – like homes, large buildings, or commercial areas – where these devices compete with other wireless devices for connectivity.
Johnson Controls’ IQ Wi-Fi 6 is a finalist at the Benchmark Innovation Awards 2023 in the Network and Connectivity category.
IQ Wi-Fi 6
While Wi-Fi 6 is an attractive wireless option for any installation, making the most of the protocol requires a powerful access point with unique features to streamline the installation, connection, and continued management of connected devices. IQ Wi-Fi 6, the first Wi-Fi system purpose-built for pros from Qolsys by Johnson Controls, provides a reliable solution with a simple installation and a superfast network.
IQ Wi-Fi 6 brings the power of Wi-Fi 6 to any installation with unrivalled features to streamline wireless connections while proactively defending against issues to keep them up and running.
Alarm.com Integration
IQ Wi-Fi 6 comes with Alarm.com integration to give users ultimate control and flexibility of their wireless systems and provides superior convenience and security. When installing IQ Wi-Fi 6 or connecting other devices to the network, an intuitive on-screen guide moves installers through the necessary steps to get the system ready to go.
Consistent internet connectivity is a vital part of cloud-based security systems, and by integrating IQ Wi-Fi 6 and Alarm.com, users can take advantage of Alarm.com’s platform from
anywhere using the mobile app or web portal. With IQ Wi-Fi 6 and Alarm.com, users can remotely manage and control their systems. Users can easily arm and disarm security systems, view live video feeds from cameras, control smart devices, or access other system features. Installers can also remotely reboot the router and solve other system issues without the need for an installer to visit the affected location.
Partitions and SSID
Wireless partitions are an important way to secure wireless systems and ensure devices maintain the needed speeds. By dividing IQ Wi-Fi 6’s Wi-Fi network into several virtual local area networks (VLANs), users can connect devices or users to one of three levels of access: Main, Security and Guest.
A well-organized Wi-Fi system lets users view and manage their devices easily, but these partitions also come with other benefits. For example, if a homeowner changes the Main partition’s network password and forgets it, an installer will still have access to the Security partition and can easily rectify the problem without a lengthy or burdensome visit to the property.
Expandable Coverage with Mesh
While IQ Wi-Fi 6 has over 1,500 square feet of coverage on its own, sometimes an installation requires that a network stretch across several buildings or larger areas. IQ Wi-Fi 6 comes complete with mesh network compatibility to enable gigabit speeds on up to 8 devices. When using a mesh network on IQ Wi-Fi 6, connection speeds stay consistent across the property to guarantee any security device can find the most effective connection to the system without competing for speeds. Additionally, the whole network will still require one SSID, meaning that the network’s password remains the same across the install even when an extra IQ Wi-Fi 6 is added to the mesh.
IQ Compatible
As a member of the IQ family, IQ Wi-Fi 6 can easily integrate with IQ Panels and other IQ devices. Using an IQ Panel with IQ Wi-Fi 6 unlocks intuitive end-user controls and enables effortless management of a system in one place. With IQ Panel, users can view their wireless network map, pause profiles, connect guests to the Guest partition using a QR code, run speed tests, or reboot their system in one place with a tap of the screen.
