O

ffering the ultimate flexibility for any installation, the Enforcer V11 boosts customer retention, extends system longevity and builds recurring revenue potential, with compatibility with the AndroidTablet, HomeControlHUB app, SmartPlug, cameras, SPEAKER/SOUNDER-WE and much more. This latest version of the Pyronix multi-awardwinning solution introduces the new standalone touchscreen tablet control station, which comprises of the 10” AndroidTablet with dedicated HomeControlHUB app (available to download from the Google Play Store). Not only does this provide the local programming option for the installer, but also the hub for the user; controlling their security, viewing and interacting with their Pyronix or Hikvision cameras and also accessing automation via the SmartPlug, for one unified experience – even doubling as a conventional tablet for users to use day-to-day to surf the web or play games. This interface pulls the installer’s branding from their PyronixCloud account to deliver a consistent, uniform and professional system throughout, including a quick share option for users to send installer details to friends and family. The tablet can even be used as a portable keypad on maintenance visits, while existing ProControl+ accounts can be connected to pull other Hikvision/Pyronix cameras on the property in to view via HomeControlHUB. The addition of the SmartPlug to the system enables the installer to enter the smart home market, with value-added smart home integration opportunities; upselling so that users can manage any plug-in appliance at the touch of the AndroidTablet’s screen via the HomeControlHUB app. Meanwhile, the SPEAKER/SOUNDER-WE lights up entrances as the user enters and exits the property, as well as mimics the tones of the panel;

distributing sound evenly across the property, while the bright courtesy light provides visual indication. With Wi-Fi communications built onboard the PCB, the Enforcer V11 can also communicate on multiple paths for simultaneous messaging to an ARC and app via separate paths if required; maximising coverage for complete peace of mind. While installation is enhanced, with a WPS button that means pairing the panel with the router can be done with the push of a button. The innovations of the Enforcer V11 also extend the level of security and care installers can deliver to customers, with unsupervised zones enabling devices to be added on cars, vans and caravans; providing additional peace of mind when parked outside the property, without risking false alarms when parked away. The system also features occupancy timers, which can be added on zones to provide a new care feature that protects elderly or vulnerable family members; setting timers on key devices around the home to generate a specified response should no movement be detected. This can be a push or voice push notification to a family member via the mobile app, or even a notification to an ARC. With an ever-evolving product range providing more selling and upselling options for the installer, managing the estate, carrying out site surveys, installations and maintenance visits all become an opportunity to increase value to both their customers and their business. Enforcer V11 expands and enhances system application capabilities further than ever before to practically cover any installation requirements. The most advanced Pyronix system released to date delivers real added value with every installation; a complete one platform solution delivering security, automation and video for any user preference.

Honeywell

MAXPRO® CLOUD – HELPING MAKE BUILDINGS HEALTHIER, SAFER AND MORE SECURE The ability to maintain a required level of security with minimal or no interference to human behaviour at any access point facilitates efficient operation while minimising risk of exposure to all occupants. Facial recognition, biometric and Bluetooth readers, passive infrared (PIR) motion sensors, and touch-free request-to-exit buttons all help reduce physical contact with frequently touched surfaces. Eliminating physical access cards or keypads at entryways and exits and replacing it with contactless technology can help minimise the risk of exposure to contagions, improve the occupant experience and maintain a high level of security in the building. Many hospitals have implemented facial recognition technology eliminating the need for healthcare workers to swipe badges or type in codes to verify their credentials.

Tracking visitors

Honeywell has been developing innovative security solutions for more than 50 years. One of the latest, MAXPRO® Cloud, is improving security and safety in a host of applications, including healthcare where touchless access and visitor management have become essential requirements

H

Reducing daily disruptions, MAXPRO® Cloud makes it easier to manage and monitor critical security and business intelligence needs – on the go

6

oneywell Security is a leading global provider of access control, intruder detection, video surveillance and integrated security solutions for the commercial markets. With a focus on delivering innovative security products and services across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) the aim is to give customers the power to make buildings healthier, safer and more secure by providing secure cloudbased ecosystems that are available at any time, from anywhere. Reducing daily disruptions, MAXPRO® Cloud makes it easier to manage and monitor critical security and business intelligence needs - on the go. This allows users to continue focusing on the bottom line, from wherever they need to be.

Security without contact Healthcare and hospital security officials are tasked with proactively protecting hospital patients, visitors, and staff. As a result of the concerns surrounding the recent pandemic, hospital officials are adopting technologies that help people avoid touching as many things as possible. Reducing contact with potentially contaminated surfaces is key and staff must be extra vigilant to avoid the spread of germs and mitigate against disease.

Now, authorised workers can be given access to facilities—or certain rooms—simply by showing their face. But hospitals and healthcare providers find that it’s just as important to track visitors as it is to keep up with staff. In a large facility, technologies provided by Honeywell and our industry leading third-party partners can make visitor management easier to maintain. Patients and visitors can be emailed a barcode to their phone or scan a QR code prior to their visit for truly frictionless access. Keeping automatic doors and entrance systems running smoothly is essential to ensuring efficient access and maintaining hygiene. Touchless wave plates, wireless lock sets and biometric readers allow for doors to be operated without touching a door handle, which helps reduce the risk of spreading pathogens in such facilities. As a prime example, Honeywell was recently approached by a large regional healthcare provider who wanted to integrate their patient recording procedure with their existing ProWatch® system to maintain a list of approved visitors who could visit new-borns. In the past, when people came in, they had to enrol their information by physically touching a fingerprint reader. As part of this project, the biometric readers at the site were replaced with IDEMIA MorphoWave readers, which keeps biometric capabilities in place but offers touchless functionality. The system takes the information on friends and family and automatically adds it to the hospital’s approved visitor list. When approved visitors arrive, they simply “wave” at the reader and are granted access. In this case, contactless biometric acquisition enables the system to identify an individual and allows secure, controlled “frictionless” entry.

Ajax

MotionCam Outdoor: photo verification goes beyond premises

M MotionCam Outdoor is equipped with a system of two PIRsensors, which, thanks to the LISA software algorithm, detect human motion with high accuracy at a distance of up to 15 metres

For more information visit:

8

otionCam Outdoor, the new wireless outdoor motion detector with a built-in camera, saves users’ nerves and prevents security companies from unnecessary patrol dispatches. Instant and accurate intrusion detection, ultra-low power consumption, clear photos in all weathers, day and night — everything to deliver pro-grade outdoor security.

Technology against false alarms MotionCam Outdoor is equipped with a system of two PIR-sensors, which, thanks to the LISA software algorithm, detect human motion with high accuracy at a distance of up to 15 metres. LISA performs correlation and spectral signal analysis, which allows the detector to instantly distinguish the real threat from interferences. When an intruder steps into your territory, the system raises an alarm immediately. Depending on the settings, the alarm is followed by a series of 2 to 5 photos. Photo verifications are displayed in Ajax apps to the users who have permission for this. The Ajax team has developed a specialised camera to make the images informative even in difficult lighting conditions. A wide-angle lens in a metal enclosure with glass optics gives a clear picture with a 105° viewing angle. In bright light, an infrared filter is automatically applied, and a powerful infrared backlight is activated in the dark. These measures ensure detailed images with correct color reproduction and without edge distortions. MotionCam Outdoor takes photos in a high dynamic range, better known as HDR. In simple words, the camera takes two consecutive shots at long and short exposures. The processor instantly combines these shots, equalizing the balance

between light and dark areas, and then compresses the image for the fastest possible transmission via the Wings protocol.

A tool worthy of a pro MotionCam Outdoor is a treasure for installation engineers and monitoring companies. To add a detector to the system, it is enough to scan a QRcode with the Ajax app, name it and assign a room. An engineer can easily mount the detector with a SmartBracket and configure it in the app using the detection zone and signal strength tests without disassembling the enclosure. If necessary, MotionCam Outdoor can be temporarily disabled or its system settings can be changed without site visits.

Reliability at the core MotionCam Outdoor is a Grade-2 professional equipment. An advanced anti-masking system responds to covering the body and painting over the lenses. A tamper will instantly alert you of an attempt to open the enclosure or dismounting a detector from a SmartBracket. And short ping intervals by a hub help to detect the communication loss in less than a minute, even if the security system is disarmed. The detector electronics are ready for sudden temperature changes, and a special hood is provided to protect the masking sensors from rain and snow. Despite a built-in camera and two infrared sensors, MotionCam Outdoor operates for up to 3 years from a pre-installed battery. Such autonomy, combined with a weatherproof body and a communication range of up to 1,700 metres from a hub, allows MotionCam Outdoor to protect the most remote areas of property.

PSI PRODUCT REVIEW 2022

Hikvision

A winning year for ColorVu

The camera features high-quality, 8MP resolution for detailpacked pictures, along with ColorVu technology for 24/7 full colour images in even the darkest of lighting conditions

In 2021 the DS-2CD2087G2-LU camera from Hikvision caused a stir in the market with a PSI Premier Award win and a score of 9/10 in a PSI test, the highest marks of the year given to any camera

T

he DS-2CD2087G2-LU Pro Series Mini Bullet with 8MP and ColorVu technology is a minimarvel, pairing its small form factor with powerful cutting edge features – an accessible, performance-orientated device designed to make end user systems as effective and efficient as possible, both in detecting threats and in searching for evidence. Furthermore, in 2021 the DS-2CD2087G2-LU Pro Series Mini Bullet was the winner of the PSI Premier Award for CCTV Product of the Year as voted for by UK installers.

What is Hikvision ColorVu technology? Many cameras default to monochrome operations as the ambient illumination decreases, and when additional lighting such as infrared lamps is used, images lose all colour detail. While the images might be crisp and clean, the advantage of using colour information is lost. ColorVu Technology enables the camera to capture video containing colour information in a range of conditions, including in extremely dimly lit environments. This not only gives the operator or security teams more information about a suspect, but it also makes it simpler to identify targets in dark scenes. When using conventional cameras with infrared lighting for night-time monitoring, people, vehicles, and other critical objects can blend into the dark background, making it difficult for operators to quickly assess a situation, or make positive identifications. Hikvision’s ColorVu technology has the ability to capture colour details in low lighting. This is due to advances in lens technology and the use of highperformance sensors. The cameras also include a supplemental light for extremely dark situations. The cameras make use of an F1.0 aperture, which captures four times the light of typical cameras. This enhances colour replication in poor lighting, without the need for excessive exposure times which can result in blur and smear. The advanced image sensor uses self-adaptive 3D digital noise reduction to eliminate noise and ensure full-motion video.

14

The camera features high-quality, 8MP resolution for detail-packed pictures, along with ColorVu technology for 24/7 full colour images in even the darkest of lighting conditions. Cameras with ColorVu technology employ advanced F1.0 lenses and high-performance sensors. That F1.0 super aperture collects more light to produce brighter images: four times the amount of light as a conventional camera. Its advanced sensor improves the utilisation of the available light, with self-adaptive 3D Digital Noise Reduction removing noise and ensuring full motion video. It can capture full colour images down to as low as 0.0005 lux and has a smart supplemental white light for zero-light conditions. It also includes AcuSense technology for automatic human and vehicle target classification and reduced false alarms, as well as an in-built microphone for real-time audio security. The Pro Series Mini Bullet Camera makes the most of its transmission capabilities by using efficient H.265+ compression technology to provide high-quality images while preserving bandwidth, and offers up to 256GB of local storage if required. The camera’s 130dB WDR technology means clear pictures can be obtained even in strongly backlit scenes. It is IP67-rated water and dustresistant.

Port security with Limit Control settings By learning the Mac and IP address of each and every port, it is not possible for a port to be hijacked. This prevents an ‘unknown’ device being able to access the network to attack the system for spoofing/phishing, preventing it from being used for malicious attacks. Only devices with a known MAC and IP address will operate on the network.

If non-managed switches are connected to terminal devices at the barox switch, Limit Control can be used to block free IP/Ethernet terminals and prevent access to the network ports of those non-managed switches. barox Smart Sticky provides a very high level of cyber and physical network protection for use within a wide variety of applications. This is particularly the case where outdoor networks like car parks, would leave devices such as cameras open to threat, where they could be unplugged, and a rogue device plugged in. On activation, the barox Smart Sticky function is able to learn the entire MAC and IP address configuration of all ports on a network. In addition, limits can be set to make sure that any unused ports are blocked, to prevent their use and access to the system, whilst active ports are fully protected against unauthorised usage too. Switch rules can also be set to govern specific port IN/OUT TCP streaming and a White/Blacklist set-up. And furthermore, any changes to network/device configurations need to be authorised to take effect. PSI PRODUCT REVIEW 2022

Dahua

TiOC 2.0 for smarter surveillance illuminator will turn back on, which can significantly help reduce light pollution during night time. Together with other modes including IR Mode and White Light Mode, the smart dual illumination technology can meet various scene requirements of customers.

VoiceCatcher technology

The upgraded TiOC 2.0 features Smart Dual Illumination technology that can flexibly switch between IR mode and white light mode

With Dahua’s TiOC 2.0 customisable security alarms are made possible

T

raditional monitoring systems often face a myriad of challenges: excessive usage of white light just to capture colour images; ubiquitous background noise; complicated alarm accessories; and lack of integration with thirdparty alarm systems, just to name a few. In response to these issues, Dahua Technology has launched its upgraded Three-in-One Camera series – the TiOC 2.0. Aside from its Active Deterrence function, it is also equipped with Smart Dual Illuminators, VoiceCatcher technology and other intelligent features.

The Dahua VoiceCatcher technology adopts a high-sensitivity dual mic array – a newly designed audio acquisition circuit that can intercept external circuit interference. With Dahua’s selfdeveloped noise reduction algorithm and highperformance SOC, this feature significantly increases the camera’s audio pick-up distance by 7 meters compared with the previous generation of TiOC (based on standard laboratory environment). In addition, the VoiceCatcher technology can also reduce noise and extract audible audio signals, which greatly enhance the TiOC 2.0 cameras in terms of sound quality. These dual mic cameras provide clear sound, high wind noise reduction rate, and low environmental background noise, whereas a typical single mic produces a slightly distorted sound. Combined with built-in speaker, a dual mic array greatly enhances the device’s Two-way Talk function, providing clearer and more audible sounds.

Better image Normally, the focus for visible light and IR light cannot be achieved in the same plane when the camera uses F1.0 large aperture. Focusing on an area in the monitored scene using cameras with these specs is difficult. Powered by OPC (Optical Path Compensation) technology, the TiOC 2.0 cameras can correct the angle of refraction of different light rays, allowing Dahua IPCs to output brighter and clearer black & white images with a F1.0 large aperture lens. It is the first Dahua Network Camera with such a feature.

Smart dual illuminators The upgraded TiOC 2.0 features Smart Dual Illumination technology that can flexibly switch between IR mode and white light mode. The smart illumination mode adopts deep learning algorithm to detect a target, when the Smart Illumination Mode (default mode) is enabled, the supplementary white light will only turn on when a target has been detected in the monitored area (PTZ camera tracks the target). The active alarm will be triggered as well (siren and blue & red light) if the target enters the rule area. When the target leaves the monitored area, the supplementary white light will turn off (PTZ camera goes back to preset) and the IR

22

AI features The upgraded series also adopts AI algorithms instead of conventional PIR sensors to improve its event detection accuracy. It boasts an array of AI functions, including SMD 3.0 and Perimeter Protection, making it suitable for various application scenarios including public areas and private places.

Tackling the requirements for robust cyber security, barox has implemented more firewall features to maximise the security of IP video transmission networks. With regards to access protection and encompassing network protection from unauthorised sources, barox utilise their Access Protection, Management, Performance and System (AMPS), an end-to-end communication encryption technique and certificates, to ‘lockout’ unauthorised network access. With its advanced cyber secure functionality, the RY-L28-XX Series switch range can detect fragmented packets, which help to indicate potentially devastating threats. In addition, the RY-L28-XX Series employs a definable Access Control List (ACL) of permissions via barox smart control, which enables per port blocking/firewall control to guard against server hacking and illegal access at switch level.

Non-stop PoE Ensuring cameras stay operational when a re-boot task needs to be performed, e.g. when changing network cameras or updating firmware, the RYL28-XX Series’ ‘Non-stop PoE’ function can be set to supply all ports with ‘always on’ power. This clever functionality allows all connected cameras to stay powered, meaning no vital camera video footage is lost during routine engineering procedures - a particularly important feature within high-security applications. Supporting efficient system operation, RY-L28XX Series switches also provide active monitoring of PoE-powered cameras, continually monitoring their status and in the event of a camera failure, the switch will automatically attempt a camera reboot. At the same time, the switch can be configured to send an SNMP message as an alert.

Device Management System (DMS) integrated in the GUI Providing powerful support to help manage security, networks and connected devices, barox’s Device Management System displays a live graphical overview of the entire network topology. For diagnostics, a Port monitoring tool is also available to support servicing and set-up requirements. Indicating their IP-addresses, type of device and equipment, the particularly intuitive Configuration & Monitoring menu in the DMS, shows the status of all IP-cameras, switches and servers, and allows device functionality control, as well as fast pinpointing of network and device issues.

With its own Elexon Charge Code, the unrivalled green credentials of the Invictus / TX camera cannot only save CCTV system owners substantial energy costs but also reduce the environmental impact of operating the camera 28

ridging the divide between analogue and IP systems, and with attractive pricing, the Invictus camera delivers a highly competitive all-in-one PTZ camera package. Enhancing 24-hour operation, Invictus is available with both IR and White-light high-intensity LED illuminators, with an industry-leading 200m illumination. As an option to the standard Invictus camera, a ‘TX’ version offers installers high-end wireless video transmission, enabling the camera to operate with no fixed video transmission infrastructure, saving money on installation time and cost of ownership. Invictus TX has been designed to suit low bandwidth or unreliable network conditions, such as satellite or cellular networks. Particularly suited to rapid, temporary or permanent deployment applications, 360 Vision’s TX technology delivers video & PTZ control from just 6 Kbps and Full 1080p HD edge recording /

remote retrieval on demand. The Invictus TX camera’s live video can be transmitted over any network, including mobile GPRS, 3G/4G, Wireless 802.n, microwave links, satellite and broadband, with minimal latency and high quality. Providing a major benefit to public sector bodies, the low power consumption Invictus and Invictus TX camera models have their own Elexon Charge Code, that yields substantially lower energy bills for organisations operating Public Space Surveillance (PSS) systems. Public sector bodies are charged for their Unmetered Supply (UMS) outdoor powered devices via a Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC). Elexon manages the BSC, and makes sure that electricity suppliers are paid, and customers are billed, according to the specific Charge Codes relating to a products’ power consumption. For CCTV systems, the generic Elexon Charge Code accredited to surveillance cameras is 100 Watts power draw, meaning that electricity consumption is billed at 100W per camera deployed. However, using 360 Vision’s Invictus and TX model cameras, organisations operating CCTV systems can achieve power consumption savings of 70%. Furthermore, these cost savings are achieved whilst also utilising integrated LED white light or IR illuminators. This is a significantly lower power draw versus peer PTZ cameras with generic Charge Codes. With its own Elexon Charge Code, the unrivalled green credentials of the Invictus / TX camera cannot only save CCTV system owners substantial energy costs but also reduce the environmental impact of operating the camera. On a 100-camera system, surveillance system owners could save more than £18,500.00 in energy costs and in turn, reduce their carbon footprint by 37 tonnes over a 5-year period, compared to the closest equivalent camera models on the market.

Fire system protects small to medium-sized buildings

With the launch of the new version of the Cerberus FIT fire protection system, Siemens Smart Infrastructure has expanded its offering for the small to medium-sized buildings market. The Cerberus line offers a portfolio of detection and alarming devices including pre-configured Cerberus FIT device to choose from: from fire detectors to configurable alarming devices (including EN 54 compliant sounder and voice sounder beacons) which enables “smart” evacuation. The newest portfolio member, the updated Cerberus FIT fire protection system now allows for second loop, supporting a maximum number of 252 addressable peripherals and devices, such as detectors as well as alarm devices. Compared to one loop panels with only 126 addressable peripherals, the second loop offers more possibilities to wire devices to the panel. All detectors and peripheral devices have an integrated line separator. In case of an interruption, the loop turns into two stub lines while making sure the system is running. As every device is also powered by the loop, less wiring is needed, enabling the customer to achieve costefficiency. siemens.com/cerberus-fit

Laser sensors for long range detection Optex is rolling out the launch of its new Redscan Pro laser detection sensor which can detect intruders to a range of 50mx100m, without any ‘gaps’ or the detection reliability ‘fading’ with range. By creating rectangular as opposed to circular (fanshaped) detection patterns, there are no unnecessary overlaps, providing coverage for virtual wall applications such as façade and fence protection, and for virtual planes to cover open areas, ceilings and roofs. To meet the individual needs of every site, Redscan Pro features multiple zones logic. This means that for each detection zone, the sensitivity, target size and output can be configured independently, allowing the zone’s risk and location to be adapted and provide maximum capture rate with minimum nuisance alarms. The sensor’s camera module brings visual assistance for configuration and post-alarm analysis. When an alarm is created, a file is saved with alarm log and video image. It helps security teams reviewing the alarms and checks if any action needs to be taken or if the settings need to be adjusted. optex-europe.com/ www.psimagazine.co.uk

How the Cloud is transforming security Cloud security applications are transformative for businesses, enabling smart buildings with remote access control and sophisticated 24/7 monitoring. The granting and revoking of access can now be done instantly from anywhere; each individual does not need to be escorted personally. Cloud also allows for complex video analytics, which can detect, track and classify the behaviors of people and vehicles on the premises. Push notifications can alert you to suspicious behaviors so that security management can intervene before situations become dangerous. Additionally, cloud-based systems can provide greater insight into day-to-day activity, such as when and where employees or vendors have accessed certain spaces, or even if a door was left open. For security dealers, the power of the cloud is all about account insights. Data from internet-connected security systems can now be accessed remotely, allowing for quick identification of customer issues on individual accounts. Some issues can even be handled remotely, which can help security dealers avoid service calls. Additionally, cloud is enabling business growth and customer loyalty by allowing dealers to identify customers that aren’t subscribed to but might benefit from certain services, or who don’t have certain peripherals installed but are capable of adding them. Reducing crowding and improving security with integration Integrating lift controls with an access and security system is a practical solution, whatever your budget, says Tim Northwood, general manager of Inner Range. For customers with several sites and/or thousands of users, a high-level lift integration with our enterprise-level intelligent integrated access and security system, Integriti, provides a seamless, unified solution to manage access very efficiently. High-level lift integration means the lift can read user credentials from entry turnstiles, or door readers. The lift’s ‘destination control’ software takes into account where each of the building’s lifts are, the user’s designated ‘home floor’ as well as where other users are going/due to go, and instantly calculates the quickest lift for the new user. The user is then immediately directed to the most efficient lift. If users have access rights to more than one floor, they can update their preference in the lift itself. The integration works with access cards, as well as QR codes – including those on mobile phones – meaning visitors can benefit from the high-level lift integration as well as regular users. Anyone accessing the building will be swiftly directly to the quickest lift, and access can be touchless too – another benefit during the pandemic. In addition, the integration ensures tighter security around accessing different floors because this is all directly controlled by the integrated system. Lift integration with entry-level access control For customers with single sites, such as small businesses, using our entry-level integrated access and security system, Inception, some lift integration is also possible. Users must present a valid access card to call a lift, and/or when choosing a floor from inside lift. This process restricts which floor selection buttons users can press, ensuring only legitimate users can access pre-agreed specific floors. The integration allows Inception to keep a record of ‘button feedback’, showing where users have been, which is helpful for both security purposes as well as tracking user movements if any infection is recorded.Visit: www.innerrange.co.uk
