Between 2011 and 2036, the Moreton Bay region is considered one of the fastest growing local government areas (LGAs) in Queensland, as well as the fifth largest growing LGA in Queensland.

Moreton Bay Region was home to approx. 417,000 people in 2016, which is 9% of QLD’s population. Moreton Bay Regional Council is the 3rd most populated LGA (local government area) in QLD after Brisbane and Gold Coast.
Moreton Bay region is expected to have an employment growth of 2.4% per annum from now to 2031/32. From 2006 to 2026, a significant portion of the Moreton Bay region is expected to benefit from a 40% to 120% employment growth and up to 30,000 new jobs.
Over the next 5, 10 and 25 years, the region’s population is expected to grow by 10%, 11% and 9% respectively, Moreton Bay LGA is growing faster than the Brisbane LGA and also, QLD as a whole, which has growth rates of 8%, 9% and 9%, respectively.

Moreton Bay Region Major Infrastructures $2 Billion North East Business Park

North East Business Park is a 169 hectare site approved for a broad range of general industrial uses, located 45 minutes north of Brisbane’s CBD. Ideally situated adjacent to the M1 at Morayfield, right in the middle of the northern growth corridor. It is predicted to generate 1,547 full time job over the development phase and 27,150 jobs over the operational phase.
$1.15 Billion Moreton Bay Rail Link Moreton Bay Rail Link began operating in late 2016, and is a 14km dual track between Lawnton and Kippa-Ring. 6 new train stations, including Kallangur, Murrumba Downs, Mango Hill, Mango Hill East, Rothwell and Kippa-Ring, provide easy access for passengers travelling from the North to Central Brisbane. It takes less than one hour from Brisabne CBD to the Moreton Bay Region by train.

USC Moreton Bay at Petrie is on track for completion in 2020, supported by additional work, study and community facilities, and will cater for up to 10,000 university students in its first 10 years. The site preparation has begun and it is expected to generate up to $950 million in economic activity.

The project involves upgrading the Bruce Highway to 6-lanes between Caloundra Road and the Sunshine Motorway. This includes major upgrades to both interchanges and the delivery of a two way service road for local traffic on the western side of the highway between Steve Irwin Way and Tanawha Tourist Drive. The project is under major construction and expected to finished by 2020.
