French colonists brought poque into the Louisiana Territory, and from New Orleans it spread up the Mississippi River. The first reference to poker was made in 1829 by a

Two main forms of the game evolved--draw (cards dealt facedown) and stud (some cards dealt face up) In 1870 Col. Jacob Schenck, U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain, taught poker to members of the court of
Queen Victoria. The queen herself became interested in the game, and Schenck wrote up a set of rules for her. Not until after World War I did the rest of Europe catch on the game, which was imported by American soldiers. Since the advent of the Internet, poker has gone online big time. Besides online lessons, message boards, and strategy sites, professional and amateur players compete virtually for real stakes in global, real-time competitions. L4

Teen hackers charged
with stealing $100 million in Army, Microsoft tech
Despite their ages, the crimes are serious: breaking into both the US Army and Microsoft’s servers to steal everything from unreleased games to military software.
F
our teenage hackers have been charged with breaking into the systems of the US Army and Microsoft in order to steal over $100 million in intellectual property.
The US Department of Justice said on Tuesday that the four men, between the ages of 18 and 28, managed to break into the servers of prominent technology companies and
the US Army. The alleged theft includes software and data related to Microsoft’s Xbox One gaming console and Xbox Live online gaming system, as well as pre-release game copies including ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ and ‘Gears of War 3.’ However, the alleged theft goes further -- as the hacking ring also allegedly stole Apache military software used to train helicopter pilots.
According to the prosecution, from January 2011 to March 2014, the four hackers broke into the networks of Microsoft, Epic Games, Valve, Zombie Studios and the US Army. In order to infiltrate these systems, the DoJ alleges that SQL injections and the use of stolen company employee usernames and passwords were used, as well as those gained from software development partners. Once inside, the hackers allegedly accessed and stole unreleased software, source codes, copyrighted and pre-release games and other intellectual property. In addition, the teenagers allegedly stole financial and other sensitive information relating to the companies -- but not their customers. The DoJ claims that the value of the intellectual property stolen amounts to between $100 million and $200 million. This case is being investigated by the FBI, and $620,000 has been seized in proceeds “related to the charged conduct.”
Nathan Leroux, 20, of Bowie, Maryland; Sanadodeh Nesheiwat, 28, of Washington, New Jersey; David Pokora, 22, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; and Austin Alcala, 18, of McCordsville, Indiana, were charged on 18 counts by a federal grand jury in the District of Delaware on April 23, 2014. The charges include conspiracies to commit computer fraud, copyright infringement, wire fraud, mail fraud, identity theft and theft of trade secrets, as well as individual counts of aggravated identity theft, unauthorized computer access, copyright infringement and wire fraud. In an indictment dating from April, the DoJ said two out of the four -- all part of a ring called “Xbox Underground” -have already pleaded guilty.
Pokora and Nesheiwat have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit computer fraud and copyright infringement. They face up to five years in prison, and face sentencing in January. In addition to those charged in the US, an Australian man with links to the conspiracy has also been charged. US Attorney Charles M. Oberly III of the District of Delaware said: “Electronic breaking and entering of computer networks and the digital looting of identities and intellectual property have become much too common. These are not harmless crimes, and those who commit them should not believe they are safely beyond our reach.” L4

vergara How a model and actress became a well-succeeded industry product with a completely Latino profile.
one has grown weary of hearing Latino actors complain that since they haven’t been raised in the United States, how their heavy accent imprinted upon their English by the Spanish language has become an insurmountable barrier to conquer popularity in the American television screens. Sofía Vergara, however, made use of that idiomatic particularity in her favor, when her character in the television series “Modern Family” conquered the audience’s sympathy without much effort. The kind of role she played was taylor-made for her. The Latino woman who fumbles her English, is totally extroverted and is the owner of heart-attack-inducing curves stood out immediately for the producers, who increased the participation of her character to the point of converting Sofía into a millionaire actress with advertising contracts superior to all other female movie stars at this moment. Her recent empire includes deals with Pepsi, Cover Girl, H&S, her being the designer of a clothing collection for the Kmart chain and also a furniture line for Rooms to Go. All that without mentioning the biggest check paid in 2013 to any television actor, including the most successful men, such as Ashton Kutcher.
Hard and complicated roads To believe that the doors have been open since day one is illogical to a society that has always seen Hispanos as lesser professionals or without clout to receive salaries compatible to the ones bestowed upon the greatest stars. They have always been seen as side actors or only meant for typical Hispano roles. Vergara hasn’t changed much the stereotype she represents but her salary and popularity have reached levels comparable to the one of the biggest stars today. But truth be told, reaching that level was due to a lawyer firm giving start to a campaign for salary equality and freeing the actress from a contract which kept her from acquiring jobs in other areas such as advertising. Nevertheless, despite all that success, the press and critics have never bestowed upon her an Emmy or Golden Globe, even though “Modern Family” has been either awarded or nominated in all categories.
Anatomy of a success Decidedly it was Sofía Vergara’s anatomy that gave the first push into her success. It is a known fact that Americans give big breasts a great deal of importance and Latinos do the same for rear curves, precisely two attributes she has in spades. And with a huge smile displaying some naughty girl features, the cocktail is complete. Nobody can deny that the same way she can inspire a voluptuous eroticism, her way of behaving and talking makes her extremely congenial, giving her a strong appeal towards the female audience. She’s likable, gracious, beautiful and sexy. And plays her Hispana role with perfection. Towards that end there’s no need for extra effort nor deployment of extra talent. All kinds of gossips have also started about her body. The most talked about is the one about her entertaining the idea of renting a womb in order to have a child with her boyfriend, since the Sofía Vergara corporation cannot afford to stay out of the market for a whole year due to a pregnancy and least of all run the risk of losing the shape that has been generating so much profit. Every woman knows the physical changes after a pregnancy.
A change of image If on one hand the character Gloria granted her all that success and rivers of money, on the other Sofía already realizes that it’s fundamental to start changing the way the audience sees her, i.e., as the silly sexy girl. Her declarations regarding money and her future have started showing change. They’ve been indicating that behind all that physical exuberance and the easy smile there’s a business entrepreneur who wants to show that there’s intelligent life within her head. Television series have a beginning, a peak, but invariably incur into decline after the fifth year if it’s an audience success. And the danger of Sofía Vergara remaining forever associated to her character Gloria is huge. For that very reason exploring other media and different roles is essential for
her survival as either a product or an actress in such a competitive environment, one of ephemeral glory and intense and short careers. For now we keep admiring her, after all arriving at 41 at the top with all that success is already a triumph. May Sofía Vergara enjoy her moment. L4
As I’ve said before here I haven’t been going out
very much in the last several years since I left my last cover band. So, I went to downtown Stuart where I know I can see some bands in a club environment. There are several bars and restaurants over there with live music and I used to play in many of them. I couldn’t wait to see the bands currently rockin’ the town. I went by Mulligans and didn’t find anything there. I went down to the other end of the street and found Duffy’s. Nothing there either. Across the street is now Maria’s café; so there’s no music there. Maybe the Osceola Street Café has a band. They had live music in there so I looked in. It was a solo acoustic guitar act. “Where can I possibly find a band in downtown Stuart? There used to be a place in the center of Osceola St in the little walkway. No, there’s no music there. How about over at Spoto’s on the water? Yes!” As I was walking there I could hear the band playing. Oh no; as I walked up from the boardwalk I could see that there wasn’t a band
but a solo act with sequenced band music. Akin to Karaoke, sequenced music is prerecorded without the performer’s instruments so he could play and sing along. I guess it was some consolation that he was really good and there were a lot of people dancing and having fun. I saw perhaps four solo acoustic acts
but I never saw a band that night. Don’t get me wrong, I love the solo acts as I often perform as a solo. I was raised on folk rock and really enjoy that kind of music. However, I also like to go out and see a band. I appreciate the skills displayed in the “strong songs” for the musicians. Sometimes there’s a great guitar player shredding the leads or a lead singer with an exceptional voice. I happen to be impressed with great bass playing since I played bass for several years in bands. As a matter of fact, much of the “Alternative” and other contemporary music is driven by the bass and drums. The bass riffs are signature and carry much of the songs personality. But, I’ll get back to the band search. So, where has all the music gone? Specifically, the bands playing music in the bars! They all seem to have disappeared. When I was playing regularly in downtown Stuart, there were several places with bands each week. Mulligans replaced The Ashley where we played regularly. There were some great bands like The Jukebox Band and SWS playing there each week. At the other end of the street; Duffy’s replaced The Jolly Sailor. There was a live band at the Jolly Sailor each week as well. T.A Verns was across the street where Maria’s Café is now. It was also a good place for live bands. There was variety then as
LOCAL BAND SPOTLIGHT
well. The Osceola Street Café always had a solo acoustic act. For a while there was a Latin band playing in the center of Osceola Street at a bar-restaurant I can’t remember the name of. Back then it was easy to find bands playing in downtown Stuart. The music was different then as well. Or, I should say, it was the same. I haven’t heard anything new in a long time while listening to live music. It’s always the same music we were playing back then. We played a lot of the music that was new from the radio. I know the classics are always going to be played. I love to hear them too. I
know a lot of the contemporary music isn’t really good band music but there is some good stuff out there. Actually, the folk style is making somewhat of a comeback. Even my son has turned me on to some new music I appreciate. Bands like Mumford and Sons and Jon Foreman are much like the music I grew up with. I will continue to look for the good live music and will report on it wherever I can find it. I know there are still some band hot spots out there. I have even been to some of them like Terra Fermata, Spotos and Chillin The Most. I guess I just have to look a little harder. L4

went out for dinner on Friday night at Tin Fish on Port St Lucie Blvd. I was pleasantly surprised to see they have live music there. It was a solo acoustic act of course. To my surprise it was Scott Benge. I know him from the band SWS many years ago. He is one of the most skilled and experienced musicians in this area. He is a great band musician and singer. But, as a solo he is just as great to listen to. He uses a six string acoustic, a twelve string acoustic and a vocal harmonizer to produce some wonderful Folk and Rock music. From Bread to the Eagles and The Beatles to Matchbox 20, you will hear much of the music you loved to listen to in years past. He is a great musician and vocalist and you can hear him in many places all over town. Check out his Facebook Page at “Scott Benge”. tv ‘The Voice’: Season 7 starts with new coaches, new possibilities
I
s it me, or does it feel like Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani have been coaches on “The Voice” forever? The two music industry megatalents made their debuts as the singing-competition show kicked off its seventh season Monday night, joining veteran coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. And although Williams and Stefani were new at the game, they played it as if they’d been at it
all their lives. Each seemed right at home in his or her big red spinning chair. I guess it must not have been just me, because partway through, after finally landing a coveted singer, having been beaten for others, Levine said, “Gwen and Pharrell are getting a little comfortable. I adore those two, but I need to make them understand that this is my house.” Oh, Adam. Competi-
tive, competitive, Adam. What would “The Voice” be without you? Shelton, for his part, came armed with material to use on the new coaches. “Don’t speak”, he told the No Doubt frontwoman as they vied for a vocalist, hushing her with her own song title. Shelton expressed dismay that Williams had not worn his trademark oversized hat, rather than a smaller one, since he’d come ready to crack wise about it, and teased the two new coaches for their cozy relationship after Williams referred to Stefani as his “boo.” Will we see coach alliances crop up in Season 7? Williams and Stefani have collaborated before and may
have each other’s backs here. Shelton and Levine are still in the throes of their bromance, rocky though it may be. Judging from the season opener, the new coaches, who confidently landed some solid talent straight out of the gate, seem set to give Shelton and Levine a solid run for the win. And, really, “comfortable” is just the word for how it feels to be back watching this show for yet another season. L4

It can be rather disheartening to return to the launch after a day of fun / fishing only to find your boat trailer missing from your towing vehicle.
M
any of us do padlock the trailer hitch lever down so it can not be disconnected from the ball. This can also be a good thing to get used to doing as it is a reminder to not forget to snap the lever down onto the ball. But what about securing the hitch extension into the bumper’s receiver? If you just use the original spring snap clip to hold the pin in place, it is rather easy to pull the pin, slide the trailer rearward
enough to get the extension out of the receiver and then transfer the extension to a waiting vehicle that has the same commonly used receiver. To prevent this, I have drilled my extension pin out enough to also accept a padlock bail, as shown in the photo below on the right. It is nice to purchase 2 or 3 padlocks using the same key for this situation. You do need to remove the extension padlock occasionally
and clean the padlock up so it will function when needed. I have found that if you don’t, the lock may become hard to unlock. Therefore it may be prudent to smear some Vaseline around where the bail enters the base to keep out water (which turns metal into rust) and over the key slot to keep the dust from getting inside the tumbler.
Boat and Trailer Security, Theft Prevention
Some boaters have even had their tires/wheels stolen right off the trailer, so after the fact they run a heavy chain thru the wheel spokes and around the axle secured with a padlock. Don’t overlook padlocking your spare tire to the trailer as shown below. Here a short section of 1/4” X 1 1/4” flat steel

was welded onto one of the securing nuts, a larger hole drilled so the bolt would have clearance and another hole matching the next wheel lug bolt hole that is then secured with a padlock. On this unit, the padlock hole end needed to be bent down to give enough to snap a standard shank length padlock lock into. Also the upper part of the hole above the bolt threads was packed with wheel bearing axle grease so as to not provide a reservoir for water to collect allow the bolt/nut to rust. L4

Early history Principessa Mafalda was built at Cantiere Navale di Riva Trigoso with her sister, the SS Principessa Jolanda. In 1907 the Jolanda sank during her launch in a dramatic spectacle. This was due to mistakes in launch procedures and not flaws in vessel design. Mafalda was launched on 22 October 1908 without her superstructure installed in order to avoid the same accident. She was finally completed on 30 March 1909 and became the flagship of the NGI. In 1910 she played a part in the development
of long distance radio communication when Guglielmo Marconi conducted experiments on board. Specifically designed for voyages between Genoa and Buenos Aires, Mafalda was considered the best ship on this route for several years. She had a luxurious twostory ballroom, spacious cabins in Louis XVI style and traveled at a relatively rapid 18 knots. On the eve of World War I, 22 August 1914, she made her one and only voyage between Genoa and New York City. During the war she was requisitioned by the Italian Royal

Navy and housed officers at Taranto. She resumed her prewar South American service in 1918. She remained the NGI’s flagship until 1922, when the SS Giulio Cesare assumed the role. By 1926 the Mafalda had made over 90 long but uneventful round trips and had a reputation for “faded luxury.” The last voyage On 11 October 1927 Principessa Mafalda sailed from Genoa for Buenos Aires with intermediate stops scheduled at Barcelona, Dakar, Rio de Janeiro, Santos and Montevideo. The ship was under the command of Captain Simon Gulì with 971 passengers and 281 crew aboard. She also carried 300 tonnes of cargo, 600 bags of mail, and 250,000 gold lire destined for the Argentine government. The trip was to take 14 days. It soon became apparent that the stately old ship was in a poor condition. Mafalda left Barcelona almost a day late due to mechanical problems and several times it slowed to a complete stop on the high seas, sometimes for hours. Water in bathrooms became intermittent. A refrigeration system failure caused tons of food to spoil, resulting in numerous cases of food poisoning. At the stop at Cape Verde, Captain Gulì telegraphed the company to request a replacement vessel, but was told “Continue to Rio and await instructions.” In the era of Italian fascism he could only do his duty. Resupplied with fresh
food and partially repaired, he brought his ship out into the North Atlantic. By 23 October the Mafalda had developed a small but noticeable list to port. The passengers, who had received few explanations for the previous breakdowns, now began to worry the ship was taking on water. Although far behind schedule, she was finally traveling at full steam off the coast of northern Brazil on the 24th. Life aboard then flowed more quietly with the longest part of the journey nearly complete. On the occasion of the passage of the equator, a linecrossing ceremony was organized on deck with orchestra music and a huge cake. Around 17:15 hours on 25 October 1927, 80 miles off Salvador de Bahia Brazil near the Abrolhos Archipelago, the ship was rocked by several strong shudders. Passengers were initially assured that this was only due to the loss of a propeller and the situation was not dangerous. However, on the bridge the engineer reported that the starboard propeller shaft had indeed fractured, but it had also traveled off its axis and cut a series of gashes
p
in the hull. Complicating matters, the watertight doors could not be fully closed. At 17:35 Captain Gulì sounded the alarm and ordered the radio officer to send SOS. He also stated this was merely a precaution as he believed his ship could stay afloat until the next day. Two ships, the SS Empire Star (British) and SS Alhena (Dutch), arrived quickly. With clear weather and rescue nearby, it seemed that the situation was in hand. However, panic began to spread among both passengers and crew. There are many conflicting versions about what happened next. What is known is that officers had difficulty maintaining order, some passengers were armed, and the ship kept moving forward in a wide circle for at least an hour. Rescue vessels received confusing signals about how to assist. Not all the lifeboats could be launched due to the list, some were rushed by the crowd, and many were not even seaworthy. Furthermore, an unknown but significant number of crew members left the ship at the outset. The first lifeboat away was filled almost entirely with crew, including the purser. Those officers and crew that did remain on board, while heroic, were largely ineffectual given the situation. The rescue vessels were therefore left to manage matters on their own as darkness fell. A few remaining lifeboats did shuttle between Mafalda and Alhena, but some capsized in the panicked throngs. Amid final scenes of chaos, the captain drowned and the chief engineer reportedly shot himself. At 22:10, nearly five hours after the initial accident, Malfalda sank stern first. Since she went down on a busy shipping lane, a number of vessels arrived to assist. By daybreak the Alhena had picked up over 450 survivors, with Empire Star, Formosa, Rosetti and other vessels rescuing the rest. Many controversies remain about exactly what transpired and who was responsible for the death toll. Reports of gunfire, sharks in the water, exploding boilers, and nearby ships refusing to assist were widely published but never confirmed. Even the exact wreck site remains a matter of dispute today. henever you buy or sell your house, having an inspection is a common practice that alerts both owners and buyers about the condition of the house for sale. When the inspection is needed in Canada or the United States, one should choose only those incorporating the standards and practices of either InterNACHI (International Association of Certified House Inspectors) or ASHI (American Society of House Inspectors), NAHI (National Association of House Inspectors), NIBI (National Institute of Building Inspectors) or CAHPI (Canadian Association of House or Property Inspectors). The average fee of a house inspection fares between $350 and $800, but the information received from the inspector has infinite value. That information can be the breaking point between closing a sale and having to look again for the house of your dreams. The amount of house inspectors is vast. There are house inspectors who offer cheaper prices, but one must pay attention to their credentials and work ethics. Ask for references. Sometimes, contacting past clients will give you an overview of how capable is a potential inspector. Whenever you’re ready to start the search, have the following questions ready: • How long have you been in the house inspection business for? • How many houses have you inspected? • What qualifications do you have? • How long does it take you to inspect a house?
• Can I be with you during the inspection? • Do you inspect the wood ovens and fireplaces? • What days and hours are you available? • Can you provide references of inspections done by you in the past? • What kind of secondary services do you provide? (such as search for termites, septic tank system, water quality, lead based paint, mold, etc.). • Do you support your inspection through a written warranty? • How much do your services cost? Advice • You should know what the inspector should do when inspecting the interior and the exterior of a house: Plumbing: while doing the inspection, the pipe materials, defective connections, water pumps and water heaters are some of the subjects inspectors will examine. Plumbing defects are some of the main problems both buyers and sellers face upon doing renovations. Ceilings: a house inspection company will examine the ceiling in order to see if there’s a deteriorated tile, as well as if there’s presence of leaks. The house owners will soon be able to determine whether the roof should be replaced or not. Tarp and gravel roofs will last for around 15 years usually, while wooden tiles have a lifespan of between 20 and 25 years. Structural damage: the general condition of the main structure of the house is also analyzed during
structures, including the condition of the walls. • Ask for proof that the house inspector has had the proper training and specific schooling in order to be able to give you an appropriate analysis and also has the necessary tools in order to make the inspections. Those house evaluations can be used to
calculate the amount of money which will be necessary to make the renovations right after deal is closed. All information collected is taken into consideration when making an offer on a house. Qualified inspectors are able to detect the flaws in a house which are not easily perceptible to the layman. L4

the inspection. The foundation of the walls are evaluated. The beams and crosspieces of the floor are also important, as well as the windows and doors. Generally it is made sure that the doors aren’t unhinged in the older houses. Heating systems: the heat distribution pipes or ducts are some of the things to be evaluated during such inspections. The buyer will also want to know if the operation controls are in good condition, as well as the fireplace. Electrical wiring: during the inspection, the condition of the electrical wiring in the whole house is of concern. The connections and overcharging prevention are some of the features inspectors will notice. Water in the basement: when there’s water in the basement or in any small space of the house, different problems are expected to happen soon. That includes mold and structure deterioration. Inspectors are especially savvy in finding those problems, which in many cases are noticeable through discoloration, smells, mold and leaks. • The inspectors will get inside the houses and analyze most of the components involved in the purchase of a house. That is a valuable tool for the house owners and also for the buyers. The buyers will be able to make informed decisions upon making offers on the properties. On their end, the house owners will know the kind of renovations or betterments the house is in need of in order to be sold. The inspection companies will have documented the safety and general condition of the house at the moment of inspection. Visual tools are used to make those evaluations. Inspector visitations may take around 3 hours on a plain inspection, and between 5 and 6 hours if a detailed inspection is desired, both with specific evaluations. Depending on the age and size of the house, maybe that task will take more or less time to be completed. The buyers will benefit for having the inspection made. Although a written report is made at the end of the inspection, there’s no comparison to being present at the time of inspection alongside the professional who has the necessary experience and knowledge. • Make sure the inspector has knowledge about all the important parts of the house. That includes the electrical systems, the plumbing, as well as the heating and air conditioning equipments. The roof and the attic are areas that should be examined, as well as the interior and exterior

The Ebola patient was named today as Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian national who had traveled to the U.S. from Liberia on September 20 to visit family.
His sister Mai Wureh said her sick brother told officials the first time he went to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital that he was visiting from the West African country in the so-called ‘Ebola hot zone’ before he was sent home with antibiotics, a critically missed opportunity to prevent others being exposed to the disease. Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Mike
Miles said on Wednesday the children who came in contact with Mr Duncan are showing no symptoms and are now being monitored at home. As an added precaution, Miles says additional health and custodial staff will be at the high, middle and two elementary schools the students Mr Duncan’s family are among up to 18 people being monitored after exposure to

The United States is discussing the possible use of experimental drugs or blood plasma from a recovered Ebola patient as a potential treatment for a patient in Texas diagnosed with Ebola, a top health official said on Tuesday. Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease

CDC holds news conference announcing first domestic case of Ebola in Texas
WHAT IS THE EBOLA VIRUS? • The CDC says ‘Ebola was first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo’. • Four types of Ebola can make people sick, the agency says. • Ebola symptoms can include fever, muscle pain, vomiting and bleeding, and can appear as long as 21 days after exposure to the virus. • Ebola is not contagious until symptoms begin, and it takes close contact with bodily fluids to spread. • Liberia is one of the three hardest-hit countries in
the epidemic, along with Sierra Leone and Guinea. • The epidemic has killed more than 3,000 people in West Africa. • People boarding planes in the outbreak zone are checked for fever, but that does not guarantee that an infected person won’t get through.

Ebola symptoms can include fever, muscle pain, vomiting and bleeding, and it can take as long as 21 days after exposure to the virus for them to appear. The disease is not contagious until symptoms begin, and it takes close contact with bodily fluids to spread. ‘The bottom line here is that I have no doubt we will control this importation, or this case of Ebola, so that it does not spread widely in this country,’ Frieden told a news conference. ‘It is certainly possible that someone who had contact with this individual, a family member or other individual, could develop Ebola in the coming weeks,’ he added. ‘But there is no doubt in my mind that we will stop it here.’
gation, the White House said. Frieden said he believed the case also marked the first time this particular strain of Ebola has been diagnosed outside of West Africa. The dramatic development comes after four American aid workers who became infected while volunteering in West Africa were flown back to the U.S. for treatment after they became sick. They were cared for in special isolation facilities at hospitals in Atlanta and Nebraska. Also, a U.S. doctor exposed to the virus in Sierra Leone is under observation in a similar facility at the National Institutes of Health. L4

and be sent home. It was not until two days later that the man was admitted to the Dallas hospital and put in isolation, it has been reported. It raises the frightening prospect that he was mixing freely with other people for a full two days while showing symptoms of the virus - the time when Ebola is most contagious. The unidentified patient has been in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital since Sunday, officials said. The hospital has launched a

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

1. Looking For Alaska
John Green
John Green is a pure genius. He writes what everyone is thinking, and presents the problems with life in a new way that makes us teenagers understand. It seems like Green has lived five lifetimes. He has captured the true essence of being a young adult and living in this world with book. I recommend this book to anyone.
2. The Enemy
Charlie Higson
If you like zombies, plot twists, and intense deaths then this book if for you. Its book one of this amazing series about a disease that infects anyone over 16 years old, you either die or turn into a zombie. So basically, it’s about a bunch of kids trying to survive in the streets of London. It’s a great read.
3. Stargirl
Jerry Spinelli
This book is so inspirational, and Spinelli is a great writer. He seems to capture the presence of Stargirl. If you have any down time I hope you will read this. If you just moved to a new school, this book was made for you. It’s a girl’s story about a new school, and new friends. She’s so eccentric, and awesome. There’s no way you can’t root for Stargirl.

2. Breaking Bad Now yes I know that this show has had its series finale awhile back, but some people still haven’t watched this. This show is insanely awesome. So many plot twists, and you can’t help but glue your eyes to the screen. But I suggest you ask your parents if you can watch it, because of the show’s foul language and frankly because it’s about making crystal meth, but you know other than that the show has great acting and an even better plot.

The music was amazing. The movie was a little too long for my taste, but the music defiantly made up for it. I even bought the soundtrack. Chloe Grace Mortez does a great job of playing Mia Hall, and Jamie Blackley does an equally great job of playing Adam.
Based on John Green’s book, this movie is so touching and shows the true meaning of why life sucks, and why it’s awesome. True it’s extremely sad, and it’s about cancer, and dying, but you will be laughing in at least one part of the movie. Not to mention that the music is great.

1. Faking It This MTV show is great. I mean sure, how could this show be good? But trust me, I watched the season 2 premiere and was automatically hypnotized by its plot and characters. It’s about two friends to who want to be popular, so they decide to become the only lesbian couple in the school; they are instantly put into the in-crowd of high school. Everyone knows who they are and what’s going on in their lives; but soon, one of them starts to have actual feelings. Now I’m not going to give everything away, if you want to know more I suggest you watch this show.

To a lot of people properties are like a small gold mine or a piggy bank in which you deposit coins and the moment comes when you have to break it because there’s just no more space left inside.
Real Estate: the piggy bank
I
t was like that before the mortgage crisis, but luckily the panorama has started to clear off and again there’s talks that real state is one of the best ways of investing some capital. The opportunities have returned and we’ve quickly entered a time of positive changes. Yes, even though some markets have recovered really well and the value of properties have been increasing, the recovery is not the same in all of them. That’s why the usual recommendation has to be taken into account: get informed with the experts about the value of the houses where you live and where you plan to buy. If you’re thinking about investing here there are three ways through which you can make money without purchasing a piece of property: • Purchasing for rental For years this has been a way of making money for a lot of business people who own capital. Having money is like “opening doors”, but one doesn’t have to be a millionaire to have a main home, and also buy an extra one or even more. If that idea seems attractive to you it’s important to know the implications of taxes and other financial commitments
the purchase entails. It’s also important that you get yourself informed about the applicable laws for investors in your place of residence, the market conditions and the demand for rentals where you think about buying. It’s also of vital importance to know your own financial situation, since if you have a good credit and employment history you can qualify to buy another home with loans, if your income and other conditions allow. • Buying properties in bad condition, renovating them and selling them Another classic one loved by investors. They buy houses in need of repairs, and have a work team in charge of renovating them. Presto! In a few months it’s in excellent condition to sale for prices way higher than the purchase one. You don’t even need to be an investor of a lot of capital in order to do that, but the bad news is that the loans for this kind of property (which won’t be your main home where you live) are almost inexistent. Thus, you have to have money for the purchase, usually more than half, at least. But the business becomes so attractive that in many cases several family members join their capital together to buy the property in order to not so much later share the profits. • Having patience and staying at home until you have the expected gains Time and patience will be your
best allies if you want to obtain gains from your property, which you will sometimes achieve with very little effort or investment. Have in mind that the better the conditions you have it in and the most well-planned betterments you do to it, the more equity or gains you’ll have. And by wellplanned betterments I mean that you should consult with professionals before making them. Look for an appraiser who’ll talk to you about the value of the properties where you live, and a construction professional to make repairs without committing the mistake of “taking the property off the market” by making costly and needless renovations which will reach the value of your property or similar ones. Maybe you won’t have to wait for so many years. If you bought your home in mid-crisis for a good price, especially a “short sale” or a foreclosure, you have good chances of obtaining equity in short time. he Italians are by far the best hosts and cooks on the planet. Not by chance the Italian cuisine is considered the most widespread and there’s almost no place in the world where an Italian doesn’t own a restaurant. Treasure Coast is no different and to make that point there’s Tutto Fresco, endowed with the real Italian atmosphere any mortal would find in New York, Rome or Buenos Aires. Impeccable in the hosting services, succulent in the dishes and with a dancing room with a bar ideal
for having fun, this place is a perfect place to know without fear of being made happy. The three partners give away the perfect atmosphere; upon seeing them together it’s impossible to miss their blood ties, so famous amongst the Italians, even more if they’re from the South. Tutto Fresco is a restaurant where one could perfectly shoot a Hollywood film with Robert De Niro entering accompanied by a sculptural
blonde. Joey and Vito command the room and Chef Pasquale the kitchen. The dishes are simply delicious, traditional and generous. Maybe they have the best Pasta Puttanesca of the region and a well-presented menu for all tastes; and Italians are everywhere. Voluptuous, delicious and impressive, the food reflects the Sicilian way of life, where everything is intense - the perfect combination. The meats are all noble
cuts and always at the perfect temperature, and don’t take the back seat to the exotic sides. Everything is in the right place, thus bad surprises other restaurants make a lot of times are avoided. To end the night, after or even maybe during dinner, there’s a patio with a bar and room for dancing where live shows take place. The Italians are masters in organizing a party and at Tutto Fresco everything is planned to make your dinner into one. If you think all that costs a fortune, you’re completely mistaken. The prices are very fair and even low, such is the quality of the facilities, the service and the attention to the client. Their menu is within range of the traditional restaurant chains, which don’t offer even 50% of the personalized attention nor the quality of their kitchen, not to mention the ambiance, something which is maybe priceless. Tutto Fresco is one of those places where the simple going out

to dinner becomes a whole event and to where one undoubtedly returns whenever possible. In here one not only eats well but also is able to have some after-dinner fun, such as by having some drinks, dancing or even sitting down and chatting. We’re talking about one of the best restaurants of its kind in the region, no doubt about it. L4
