MOIC Award for YKA

YKA Electronics & Home Appliances Division received an award from H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, for Excellence in Customer Satisfaction in 2022.

Inauguration

YKA inaugurated its sixth retail tire center and the first exclusive Continental Tire Centre in Bahrain at Salmabad. The state-of-the-art facility includes the latest equipment and infrastructure to deliver on the brand’s customers’ expectations. UD Truck Sustainability Award

YKA Heavy Equipment Division received a Sustainability Award from UD Trucks for the Green Energy Initiative – the Solar Power project at HE Service. The award was presented at the UD Trucks Partner Conference in Dubai.

NGK Spark Plug Go Kart Championship

Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons Parts Division, the exclusive distributor of NGK Spark Plugs in the Kingdom hosted the Bahrain round of NGK Spark Plug Go Kart Championships at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit. The event witnessed participation from several of their parts dealers. The first-place winner, Abdul Karim Hussain from Al Bader Auto Parts, qualified for the semifinal round which will be held in Dubai. Two winners from the semifinal will qualify for the final race of the NGK Go Kart Championship, which will be held in Europe.

YKA Heavy Equipment Parts & TBLE Division participated in Alba Sports Festival held on the 24th and 25th of February at the Alba Club in Sanad. A display of its various brands of Tires, Batteries, Tools, and other DIY products from Wurth Germany was set up with special offers to all Alba staff.

Vehicle Inspection Center Anniversary

YKA Light Vehicle Inspection Centre (LVIC) in Sitra marked the first anniversary of its operations. The event was attended by Captain Mohammed Al Haji - General Directorate of Traffic, Alok Gupta - CEO of YKA, along with other officials from YKA.

UD Trucks Driver Training Program

YKA & UD Trucks Jointly conducted a three-day Driver Training Program from 13th to 15th March for drivers of the UD Brand of trucks. The training was conducted for 41 drivers from 17 major fleet customers from Bahrain by UD Certified Driver Trainer, Rosqvist Bengt-Goran Ingemar, Competence Development Head of UD Trucks, Baluchamy Thilak, and the YKA team.

They received theoretical and practical driving training in close-quarter maneuvering, precision parking, spotting, and on-road driving with fully loaded trucks to simulate actual conditions on the Special Driving Circuit. Participants expressed their appreciation of the inputs received on Economical & Safe Driving Techniques to improve fuel efficiency, truck component life & on-road safety.

Nikai Agreement Signing

Nikai, a prominent UAE-based electronics brand, has partnered with Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons (YKA) to become its authorised distributor in Bahrain. The agreement was signed by Farouk Almoayyed - YKA Chairman, and Karthik Moorthy - Nikai Gulf FZCO’s Vice-President. Introducing the All-New 2023 Nissan X-TRAIL

The Premium Urban Crossover furthers the brand’s commitment to introducing innovative mobility solutions, offering customers class-leading versatility, elevated exterior and interior designs, advanced safety, and improved levels of capability.

The all-new X-TRAIL features a signature V-motion grille and floating roof design on the exterior. The X-TRAIL creates an appeal to families with its bigger-opening rear door apertures, which open up to 85 degrees for easier rear access and egress. The interior receives a premium upgrade, underlined by Nappa leather-accented seating with 3D diamond quilting available on the top-of-the-range SL grade.

The 2023 Nissan X-TRAIL is powered by an all-new 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that, compared to its predecessor, raises power output by 12hp to 181hp and boosts torque by 11Nm to 244Nm, for more effortless

acceleration and confident overtaking. Power is pushed through an advanced Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with paddle-shift controls on the steering wheel for manual override of the new shift-by-wire transmission interface.

The crossover is equipped with an intelligent 4x4 system with a direct coupling that reacts faster than ever before, allowing for seamless transfer of power between axles for stability and traction. A twist-dial Drive Mode Selector provides five driving modes to choose from: Off-Road, Snow, Auto, Eco and Sports, with the added benefit of Hill Descent Control for carefully modulated downhill off-road driving.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite of active safety features makes this the safest X-TRAIL, with Nissan Safety Shield 360 that includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist. enables acceleration, braking, and cruising at a set speed within a single lane.

Hawra Abdulla, Assistant Manager - IT Department (Networking & Infrastructure) talks about her role, her aspirations, and her growth at Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons (YKA).

Tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to YKA?

I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Bahrain. Through a Ministry project for undergraduates, I joined YKA. It’s the first and only company I’ve worked at and I began my career here without knowing much about the work environment. Twelve years on, I’m still here and I’ve learned everything I know in this space and improved within YKA. I was recently promoted to the position of Assistant Manager in the IT Department. It’s been a great experience working here.

What does a typical day look like for you while managing the IT networking and infrastructure at the company?

It is a critical and challenging role as we are a group of companies with multiple branches, more than 800 users spread across different locations, dealing with various customers. In my 12 years, I’ve interacted with almost everyone in the company, something I’ve come to love and enjoy doing. Each day involves me speaking with different people - from technicians and new staff to sales team members, my team, and managers.

What are some big lessons you have learned along the way in the last 12 years at YKA?

The first lesson is to be patient and focus on your strengths. The second lesson is to improve your listening skills. The third and most important one is that the customer truly matters.

How do you go about creating a positive work environment and experiences on the job?

A positive work environment begins with my team. Work relationships should be supportive and energizing; enable each employee to trust that their peers, superiors, and

managers are there to help them and that everyone in the team can learn from each other. Offering growth opportunities to the team through professional development courses is another important way to build a positive work environment that focuses on enhancing an employee’s skill set. Since taking on the position of Assistant Manager, I’ve been planning an appreciation structure to recognize hard-working team members to encourage and motivate them to continue their pursuit of excellence.

How do you envision your growth with YKA?

I’ve always looked forward to a leadership role and I’m happy to have received this position now at YK Almoayyed. For now, my sole focus is on fulfilling my new designation. I plan to gain greater experience with new projects and continuous professional development to prepare myself for the next role. I’m currently studying Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator and planning to get the certificate this month. I would like to be Microsoft 365 certified and become an enterprise administrator expert this year.

What advice would you give to new employees joining YKA?

First of all, work with love. Don’t rush your growth and don’t be in a hurry to reach somewhere. Slower the growth, the deeper the roots. Try to learn something from every moment, from each person, and from each situation. 

People Centric

Pre-Ramadan Celebration

YKA held Pre-Ramadan Festivities at their head office in Manama. The members of management and employees were offered Arabic coffee and dates. Farouk Almoayyed - Chairman and Mona Almoayyed - Managing Director of YKA congratulated the employees to mark the advent of the holy month.

INJAZ Career Expo

YKA participated in the INJAZ Bahrain Career Expo at the American University of Bahrain in Riffa that was patronized by Her Highness Shaikha Hessa Bint Khalifa Al KhalifaChairperson of INJAZ Bahrain. The event witnessed a great response from the students, job seekers, and candidates seeking career guidance.

Infiniti Sales & Service Training

Infiniti Middle East held a training program for YKA’s Infiniti sales, service advisors and managers on the Infiniti Sales and Service Way, an updated procedure to maintain a high level of customer experience. The training course was conducted by renowned trainer, Nicolas Gondard.

Less is More Workshop

Managerial grade employees from across the company attended a workshop called ‘Less is More Leadership’ which focused on how communication, supervisory, leadership, and management should work in a large company like YKA. The workshop was hosted by Mohammed Shukri, a Toastmasters World Champion and renowned trainer. Alok Gupta – CEO of YKA, emphasized the importance of these management and leadership sessions and thanked everyone for their participation.

Off-Road Experience

YKA hosted an Off-Road Experience at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) for its employees to provide them with an opportunity to experience the off-road capabilities of some of the popular nameplates from its automotive portfolio - the Ford Bronco, Nissan Patrol and Nissan Patrol Super Safari.

The YKA Off-Road Experience Track is designed by the BIC so that it can challenge every bit of suspension, engine, and transmission while conquering every challenge and obstacle in its route. Managers from operations took part in this event and had a memorable experience.

Inter-Company Football Tournament

The third Almoayyed Inter-company Football Tournament was held at the Football Academy Courts in Saar. Four teams represented the Almoayyed group of companies – Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons, Ashrafs, Almoayyed Contracting Group (ACG), and National Concrete Company (NCC).

International Women’s Day

YKA celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2023 at Darseen Café in Manama. The event was attended by Mona Almoayyed – Managing Director of YKA, who expressed her gratitude towards the contribution and efforts that women have invested in the company and for being recognized as one of the most successful organizations in Bahrain over the past 80 years.

Managing by Objectives Workshop

YKA hosted a workshop for its employees titled “Managing by Objectives” at the Downtown Rotana in Manama. The workshop conducted by Jean Nicolai – President of SteppingStone Global, aimed at strengthening middle management in the areas of effective time utilization, setting goals, and identifying priorities that would give them the right skills and frame of mind to focus on achieving the targets for 2023.

Mohammed Almoayyed – Director of YKA, Hala Almoayyed – Executive Director of ACG, and Alok Gupta – CEO of YKA attended the tournament to support and encourage the young employees. The NCC team clinched the trophy in a closely-fought final match. More than 80 people attended the event, which included members of the management and staff, along with their friends and family members.

Nissan Star Awards

Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons, the sole distributor of Nissan vehicles in the Kingdom of Bahrain, awarded seven of its Sales Executives and Service Advisors for achieving their customer service index. Ahmed Al Dailami – General Manager of Nissan Bahrain, and Sonu Duggal – Group HR Manager at YKA, handed the awards to the employees.

Ford Elite Force Awards

The Ford Academy awarded a token of appreciation to the Elite Force Team from Almoayyed Motors – the sole distributor of Ford & Lincoln vehicles in Bahrain. The Elite Force Team comprises team members that dedicated more than a year to training for the upcoming Next-Gen Ford Ranger.

Farewell to Long-Serving Employees

YKA bid farewell to some of its employees who recently retired after their long service with the company. They were awarded a token of appreciation from Mona Almoayyed – Managing Director. Ali Husain Alradhi - Parts Picker at the Heavy Equipment Parts Warehouse, Muatasem Hasan - Sales Executive at Ford Showroom, Ahmed Alali - Data Entry Clerk at Nissan PDI, Yasmeen Husain - Data Entry Operator at Nissan Parts were felicitated for their long service.

To support the development of youth, YKA hosted a group of students from Shaikh Abdulla Bin Isa Technical School at Nissan Service Centre in Sitra. Students familiarized themselves with automobile service at a technical level.
