INTRO

Design For, now in its eighth edition, is a project born in 2012. Initially it had the aim of bringing together designers and companies by reducing the distances between the two categories. In particular, by proposing valid design ideas to companies, it tries to anticipate the request for creativity from the market.

The published concepts had the possibility of being selected by renowned design companies who were looking for new ideas to produce.

This eighth edition tells the stories and products of designers from all continents. Leafing through the pages of the volume you also get in touch with the different cultures as each brand brings back part of its tradition and its way of designing within its object. Readers will be able to reflect on the stories behind the products, understand that the value of these pieces lies in the culture that accompanies them and in the contexts in which they were created. Not only to observe the exterior but also to deepen the contextual side of the design.

Following the development of the phenomenon of self-production and the growing demand for unique and sought-after products, in 2019, Design For was transformed by focusing on independent designers and brands. The book becomes an instrument of visibility and diffusion, a large catalogue of products and furnishing accessories that are alternative to the usual ones sold on a large scale.

The materials used are also linked to tradition; furnishing accessories made with wood, iron, ceramic, glass and concrete are the most used. A return to the purity of the material used to enhance the lines of products increasingly inspired by nature. For this reason the peculiar characteristics of each material are elegantly exhibited and used to make the products more attractive.

The architecture and interior design studios will use the catalog to select products to be included in their projects, journalists to give visibility to Italian and international designers and retailers to put items of interest directly on sale.

The soul of each room is represented by the objects that decorate it and all the proposals published here can be adapted to different housing solutions, they can satisfy the most diverse tastes, they certainly do not remain indifferent and always arouse an emotion.

1% DESIGN

1% Design is an offshoot of 1% Architecture, a studio founded by Lebanese architect Waldemar Faddoul. After years of designing homes, the workshop has come to develop its own DNA of multipurpose furniture, preserving and promoting local handcraftsmanship. The name in itself is a form of manifesto, celebrating the rebels who set themselves aside from the rest of the herd; i.e. the remaining 99%.
