Sportsmanshipcanbehandledinseveraldifferentways.It'showoneteamhandlesanotheronand offthefield.Simplyitcouldalsobesaidasjustthewayyouhandlethegameingeneralaftera toughloss,orafteraneasywin,ithowyourdemeanorisduringandafteragameSportsmanship canbeanIndividual,asateam,asacommunity,oratadeepermeaningallofthemtogether. Sports,forthousandsofyears,havebeenawonderfulmeansforhumankindtoexerciseoneofour mostbasicinstincts:competitionwithourfellowhumans.Surroundingalltypesofsportsistheidea ofsportsmanship,therespectandethicalbehaviorshowntoallparticipantsofacontest.Sportsfans aroundtheworldhaveallseentheirshareofsorelosers,badwinners,andgenerallyhorrifying displaysofpoorsportsmanshipYet,inallsports,thereremaincertaindogmasthatonlythemost poorly–behavedsportsmanwoulddaretoviolate.Thespiritofthegame,inmanycases,isfarmore importantthantheoutcomeofthematch,andatruecompetitorunderstandsthis.Thisiswhymany ofourmostbelovedathletesarenotalwaysthemosttalentedoroutstandingperformers;itisthose whoplaywiththepurestheart,forthesakeoftheteam,andwithrespectforallopponents.Truly transcendentathletesarethosethatareabletocombinethisintangibletraitwithworldclassskill.
