ES > Gran Canaria se muestra a sus visitantes como un auténtico escaparate paisajístico donde es posible apreciar las peculiaridades del medio natural macaronésico y la variedad de flora y fauna autóctona. Esta riqueza natural ha favorecido que una gran parte de su territorio geográfico haya sido declarado Reserva de la Biosfera, una proclamación que ha entusiasmado a todos los grancanarios, sensibilizados con la mejora de las condiciones ambientales de la Isla. Gran Canaria está localizada en la zona atlántica de la Macaronesia, conformada por los archipiélagos de Madeira, Salvajes, Azores, Cabo Verde y parte de Marruecos. Se sitúa a unos 210 kilómetros del punto más cercano de la costa africana y a 1.250 de Cádiz, el puerto continental europeo más cercano. Dentro del Archipiélago Canario, Gran Canaria está situada entre Fuerteventura de la que dista 83 km. al Este, y Tenerife situada a 62 km. al Oeste. De origen volcánico, Gran Canaria reúne en sus 1.560 kilómetros cuadrados de superficie y 236 kilómetros de longitud de costa, buena parte de los variados paisajes del Archipiélago. Este hecho y la diversidad de su clima le ha valido el calificativo de “continente en miniatura”. La característica física más emblemática de la Isla es su redondez, distorsionada por una pequeña península de unos 12 kilómetros cuadrados situada al nordeste (La Isleta) unida a la Isla por un istmo arenoso. La altitud máxima se sitúa en el Pozo de Las Nieves, en el mismo centro de Gran Canaria, con 1.949 m. Desde estas alturas y hasta la costa, la Isla está surcada radialmente por profundos barrancos, en los que se exhibe un paisaje diferente.

Es asimismo el lugar preferido por aquellos que desean unas vacaciones diferentes, cerca de casa, con todas las ventajas de un lugar que forma parte de la Unión Europea y con el aliciente de descubrir, cada día, un mundo nuevo de sensaciones con todos los sentidos. Esto es lo que nuestra isla ofrece durante todo el año, con una temperatura media anual de 24º. Los vientos alisios y las suaves corrientes marinas hacen que el clima de Gran Canaria sea el mejor del mundo. Gran Canaria cuenta con una enorme riqueza natural, en la que sobresalen sus numerosas playas de calidad, en su mayoría de arena rubia, algunas de las cuales son

Casi 60 de los 236 kilómetros de longitud de costa de Gran Canaria están ocupados por playas de distinta naturaleza, que van desde la impresionante Maspalomas, con sus 250 hectáreas de dunas junto al mar, a la recóndita y virgen Güigüi, pasando por la animada playa capitalina de Las Canteras. El clima templado y la agradable temperatura del agua de baño (entre los 18 grados de los meses de invierno y los 22 del resto del año) permite que las playas puedan ser usadas todo el año.

Gran Canaria is situated in the Atlantic area of the Macaronesia, a geographical zone encompassing the Madeira, Azores and Cape Verde Archipelagos, the Savage islands together with part of Morocco. It is located at approximately 210 kilometres off the African coast, and 1250 kilometres from Cadiz, the nearest European continental port. Within the Canary Islands Archipelago, Gran Canaria lies between the islands of Fuerteventura - 83 km towards the East - and Tenerife - 62 km to the West.

Volcanic in origin, throughout its 1,560 square kilometres of surface area and 236 kilometres of coastal line, Gran Canaria epitomises the majority of the highly varied landscapes of the Archipelago. This fact in itself, in addition to its climatic diversity, has won Gran Canaria the nickname “miniature continent”. The most emblematic physical characteristic of the Island is its roundness, solely distorted by a small peninsula, approximately twelve square kilometres in size, located towards the northeast (“La Isleta”), and joined to the mainland by a sand isthmus. The island’s highest peak (1,949 metres) is found at “Pozo de las Nieves”, right at the centre of Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria encompasses magnificent natural resources. The most noteworthy are the abundance of high quality beaches, mostly covered in white sand, some of which are unique in the world. Almost sixty of Gran Canaria’s 236 kilometres of coastal line are covered by beaches of differing nature: from the impressive beach of Maspalomas - over 250 hectares of dunes along the seashore - to the recondite and virgin beach of Güigüi, without forgetting the bustling beach of Las Canteras, in the island’s capital city. Das alles bietet unsere Insel während des ganzen Jahres bei einer Jahresdurchschnittstemperatur von 24 Grad. Passatwinde und warme Meeresströmungen sorgen dafür, dass Gran Canaria das beste Klima der Welt hat. Gran Canaria weist einen enormen Naturreichtum auf. Bemerkenswert sind die zahlreichen erstklassigen Strände, mehrheitlich helle Sandstrände, von denen einige einzigartig in der ganzen Welt sind. Fast 60 der 236 km Küstenstreifen von Gran Canaria sind Strände unterschiedlicher Art. Auch die Meeresfauna von Gran Canaria ist wegen der Mannigfaltigkeit der Umwelt und geographischen Lage der Insel sehr vielfältig und artenreich.

Las reglas del museo tradicional se quiebran y quienes lo visitan entran en un mundo donde se convierten en el centro de la acción y parte protagonista de las exposiciones. “Prohibido no tocar”. Ese es el lema del Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, un espacio dinámico, innovador y de vanguardia que acerca al gran público los secretos de la ciencia de manera divertida e interactiva. Apuesta por la divulgación de la cultura científica y tecnológica basada en la comunicación inteligible y la participación, una cultura respetuosa con el distinto nivel de interés y formación de cada persona y preocupada más por motivar la búsqueda del conocimiento despertando la curiosidad que por transmitir un mensaje cerrado, porque todo se puede tocar y manipular. Como todos los centros interactivos del mundo, quiere servir de puente y traductor del lenguaje de los científicos a toda la ciudadanía. Enclavado en el emblemático Parque de Santa Catalina, el Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnología es uno de los centros culturales y de ocio más importantes de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A través de los 4.500 metros cuadrados de salas de exposiciones de Ciencia y Tecnología, llenas de piezas y módulos interactivos, de talleres para hacer Ciencia en vivo, de una sala de proyecciones de cine 3D, de un planetario digital, de una sala especial para la infancia, de exposiciones temporales y monográficas, ha logrado pasar de la vitrina al experimento.

Disfrutar de una réplica de una Estación Espacial, conocer cómo es un avión por dentro, o darse una vuelta en el Robocoaster, un brazo articulado que se ha convertido en una de las máximas atracciones del museo, son sólo una pequeña muestra de lo que ofrece este centro moderno y divertido. Un lugar donde además el visitante encontrará un espacio donde se muestra un contenido diálogo entre Ciencia-Arte. Pero aun hay más. Canarias se ha convertido en uno de los lugares de referencia en la investigación astronómica mundial gracias a la instalación de equipos de observación de primerísima generación y la calidad de sus cielos. En el planetario digital Paco Sánchez comprenderemos por qué Canarias es uno de los mejores lugares de la Tierra para observar el Universo. Su situación geográfica y la claridad de sus cielos nocturnos hace que se pueda disfrutar en las islas de un firmamento único y permite que en ellas esté instalado el telescopio más grande del mundo. Gracias a un moderno sistema de proyección, en el planetario descubriremos que “en Canarias el universo está al alcance de tus ojos”.

También gracias a su vocación universal, el visitante podrá disfrutar de los más alucinantes paisajes del mundo sin salir de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. La sala de cine te llevará a descubrir Caminando con Dinosaurios (Walking with Dinosaurs) y Pequeños Gigantes (Tiny Gigants), todo ello en tecnología digital. Entre sus recursos museísticos destacan la sala “Investigación y Ciencia en Canarias”, dedicada a la investigación en Canarias y plataforma dinámica de difusión de la ciencia y la tecnología desarrollada por canarios/as. Una zona de robótica y de nuevas tecnologías, además de un área infantil permanente, el área específica del científico canario “Agustín de Betancourt”, la sala de cetáceos de Canarias, el espacio dedicado a la zona portuaria y a colecciones marítimas, y la zona de la terraza como Mirador del espacio y cielo canario, complementan nuestra oferta de contenidos en ciencia y tecnología.

Situada al Suroeste de la Isla, en el municipio de Mogán, la finca de Veneguera ocupa una extensión de más de 2.800 hectáreas, y se extiende desde el interior, hasta el litoral en la desembocadura del barranco del mismo nombre. Histórica zona de desarrollo agrícola de la isla, Veneguera posee un microclima idóneo y excepcional para los cultivos subtropicales, y cuenta con pozos de agua para el desarrollo de una agricultura ecológica. La finca desarrolla diversos cultivos de sabrosos plátanos, mangos, aguacates, cítricos y hortalizas. También se han introducido nuevos cultivos como limas y granadas, y otros viveros de frutas exóticas que actualmente se encuentran en periodo de prueba como piñas o guanábanas. This has been the mission of the Lopesan Group since it bought the estate early in 2014. Set in the South West of the Island, in the municipal borough of Mogรกn, the Veneguera estate covers over 2,800 hectares, running down from the interior to the coast at the mouth of the Veneguera Gorge. A traditional farming area of the island, Veneguera has an exceptional micro-climate that is ideal for sub-tropical crops, and it also has wells for organic farming.

The estate grows a variety of delicious bananas, mangos, avocado pears, citrus fruits and vegetables. It has also introduced new crops such as limes and pomegranates, and it is currently testing some exotic fruits like as pineapples and soursop. This produce is not only for a range of local co-operatives, the hotels of the chain are also supplied with fruit and vegetables from the estate, offering their guests the chance to discover and taste some of the most delicious locally-grown produce.

Muestra de ello es que Gran Canaria será, este año, el escenario de 150 eventos deportivos del más variado nivel. Pruebas de gran calado internacional hasta eventos más modestos salpican el calendario, de enero a diciembre. Además, son pruebas que abarcan un gran abanico de modalidades, desde deportes náuticos, carreras urbanas, de montaña o extremas pasando por pádel y automovilísmo…Hay para todos los gustos. Si usted es amante del deporte debe saber, además, que Gran Canaria recibió en 2016 a más de 20.000 deportistas procedentes de 65 países, que vinieron a la Isla a disputar algunas de las 16 pruebas del más alto nivel internacional, y que junto a ellos, otros muchos miles de visitantes decidieron recalar en Gran Canaria para ver o practicar su deporte favorito. Sin duda, Gran Canaria es y respira deporte.

Además, no se circunscriben a un solo municipio, abarcan todos y cada uno de los rincones de Gran Canaria. De esta forma el deporte se convierte en una manera diferente de conocer una Isla que tiene mucho que ofrecer. Con todo ello, nuestra capacidad organizativa queda más que patente. Con trabajo y esfuerzo hemos conseguido que nuestra tierra sea un punto de referencia tanto para practicar deporte, como para participar en alguna de las pruebas, o para disfrutar como espectador de ellas.

Over 680,000 tourists acknowledged having engaged in some sport or nature-related physical activity during their stay on Gran Canaria in 201: that is 17% of the 4.2 million visitors that chose the Island for their holidays.

Und dies wird bereits von vielen anerkannt. Der organisatorische Erfolg unter Teilnehmern und Publikum bei den 16 größten internationalen Sportereignissen im Jahr 2016 hat dazu geführt, dass sich die Zahl der internationalen Großveranstaltungen in diesem Jahr auf 24 erhöhen wird. Auch die Breite der angebotenen Sportarten erweitert sich: von Basketball und Triathlon, über Mountainbike und Wassersportarten wie Segeln, Windsurfen und Surfen, bis hin zu beach-Handball und Marathon. Die Wettbewerbe beschränken sich dabei nicht auf eine einzelne Gemeinde, sondern erreichen jeden Winkel Gran Canarias. Auf diese Weise verwandelt sich der Sport in eine weitere attraktive Art und Weise, eine Insel kennen zu lernen, die eh schon sehr viel zu bieten hat.

Unsere organisatorischen Fähigkeiten sind mehr als offensichtlich. Mit viel Arbeit und Mühe haben wir es geschafft, dass unsere Insel nicht nur bei Sportliebhabern zur Ausübung unterschiedlichster Sportarten im Blickpunkt steht, sondern auch in Bezug auf die Teilnahme an Wettkämpfen als Sportler oder Zuschauer. Mehr als 680000 Touristen bestätigten im Jahr 2016, während ihres Aufenthalts auf Gran Canaria irgendeine Art körperlicher Ertüchtigung gemacht zu haben, die mit Sport und Natur verbunden war. Diese Zahl bedeuteten einen Anteil von 17 Prozent der 4,2 Millionen Besucher, die für ihren Urlaub die Insel wählten.

Nach der Gründung wurde Agüimes von den Katholischen Königen der Kirche überlassen und war unter bischoflicher Herrschaft bis zum 19. Jahrhundert. Diese Merkmal und die Hingabe zur Landwirtschaft haben den Charakter des Dorfes geprägt. Von dem Fischerdorf Arinaga bis zum Landwirtschaft geprägten Ort Temisas gibt es viele Ecken zum entdecken und durchwandern. Sehr zu empfehlen ist der Besuch des Tales Guayadeque, das einst von den kanarischen Eingeborenen zahlreich besiedelt war.

ES > La Fundación para la Etnografía y el Desarrollo de la Artesanía Canaria (Fedac) es un Organismo Autónomo del Cabildo de Gran Canaria. Sus objetivos se centran en el estudio, la recuperación y la divulgación de los elementos culturales autóctonos de Gran Canaria, con especial énfasis en el mantenimiento y desarrollo de los oficios artesanos. Cuenta con el personal, la infraestructura, el equipamiento y las líneas de trabajo imprescindibles para alcanzar sus objetivos. La producción artesana de Canarias es de gran riqueza, ya que mientras unos oficios existen desde hace siglos, (alfarería, tejidos, herrería, cestería, ...) otros se desarrollan siguiendo tendencias más modernas (cerámica, decoración de telas, joyería, etc.).

Entre los objetivos de la Fedac, se encuentra el mantenimiento y desarrollo de los oficios artesanos a través de una intensa política de apoyo a la comercialización, reflejada en dos tiendas especializadas, sin anímo de lucro, por lo que al comprar en ellas, además de saber que paga un precio justo, usted tiene la garantía de que su dinero va donde realmente debe ir, a los artesanos que crearon las piezas. Beobachtet wurden in den hiesigen Gewässern von kleinen Delfinen mit etwas mehr als einem Meter Körperlänge bis hin zu dem atemberaubenden Blauwal, aber auch Orcas, Tümmler, Rundkopfdelfine, Rauzahndelfine, Streifendelfine, Gemeine Delfine, Schlankdelfine, Finnwale, Grindwale, Schnabelwale u. v. a. Die Beobachtung dieser faszinierenden Tiere in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung ist ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Sie sollten sich nicht entgehen lassen zu erleben, wie die Tiere vor dem Bug der Walbeobachtungsschiffe ausgelassen springen und schwimmen. Oder schauen Sie ihnen durch die Glasböden der Boote zu, wo wir nicht sicher sind, ob wir sie betrachten oder ob sie es sind, die sich neugierig nähern, um diese fremden Wesen zu erkunden. Reserva natural Nature Reserve Naturreservat ES > En el norte de la isla de Gran Canaria, a poco más de veinte minutos de la capital, se encuentra la Villa de Moya. Y en la zona de medianías merece una visita la Casa del Queso, para conocer la tradición quesera de la comarca. Para aquellos que prefieran disfrutar del mar y la naturaleza, el municipio les ofrece también esa posibilidad. En la playa de San Felipe se gozan de estupendas olas para la práctica del surf y en las piscinas naturales de Roque Prieto se disfruta del mar en un ambiente familiar. En las medianías y cumbres, se pueden deleitar con paisajes maravillos para la relajación o la práctica de senderismo. También las tradiciones y las fiesta populares son reconocidas y despiertan el interés de los visitantes. Entre ella destacan la Fiesta del Queso en abril y mayo, las Fiestas de la Virgen en agosto, la Fiesta de Las Marías en septiembre, y también la Semana Santa, de importante valor patrimonial.

A stroll around the cobbled streets of the old town offers us a window onto the splendours of yesteryear, with countless elegantly-built stately buildings impervious to the passage of time, and the magnificent parish church; along with craft workshops that will amaze you with the laborious, yet refined work of the craftsmen who make traditional Canary Island knives and wood carvings; and establishments where you can try the delicious typical desserts of Guía and its famous, unique, exquisite “queso de flor” or flower cheese, made from sheep’s milk curdled with the sap of the thistle flower. Not far from the Old Town centre is the archaeological site of the “Cenobio de Valerón”, an impressive common grain store used by the ancient Canary Islanders, comprised of 300 caves dug into the volcanic rock. And in the foothills area, the Casa del Queso (Cheese Museum) is worth a visit to discover the cheese-making tradition of the district.

For those who prefer the sea and the countryside, the municipality offers this possibility too. There is fantastic surfing at playa de San Felipe, and you can really enjoy the sea in a family atmosphere in the natural pools at Roque Prieto. You can enjoy the wonderful scenery of the foothills and highlands to relax of for hiking. The local traditions and popular fiestas are also renown and usually arouse the interest of visitors. These include the Cheese Fiesta - “Fiesta del Queso” - in April and May, the Fiestas of Our Lady - “Fiestas de la Virgen” – in August, the Fiesta of the Marys – Fiestas de Las Marías – in September and Easter Week, declared a heritage event. Wir sehen aber auch Kunsthandwerksbetriebe, in denen uns die mühevolle, geschickte Arbeit der Holzschnitzer mit den kanarischen Messern in Erstaunen versetzt, oder Geschäfte, in denen Sie das köstliche typische Gebäck von Guía oder den berühmten, exquisiten, einzigartigen Blumenkäse, Queso de Flor, kosten können, der aus Schafsmilch und mit einem aus Distelblüten gewonnenen Lab hergestellt wird. Ganz in der Nähe der Altstadt liegt die archäologische Fundstätte von Cenobio de Valerón, ein beeindruckender Gemeinschaftskornspeicher aus der Zeit der kanarischen Ureinwohner, der aus mehr als 300 in das Vulkangestein gehauene Höhlen besteht. In mittlerer Höhenlage des Gemeindegebietes lohnt sich auch sehr ein Besuch des Hauses des Käses, Casa del Queso, um die Käsereitraditionen des Landstrichs kennen zu lernen.

Aber auch das alte Brauchtum und die traditionellen Volksfeste erfreuen sich großer Beliebtheit bei Besuchern von fern und nah. Unter ihnen gilt es besonders das Käsefest im April und Mai, das Muttergottes-Fest im August, die Marien-Feierlichleiten im September, sowie die tief in der Geschichte verwurzelten Traditionen der Karwoche hervorzuheben.

La tradición y la innovación se complementan para servir desde el plato más tradicional al más evolucionado. ES > La cocina en Gran Canaria se ve favorecida por su situación geográfica, su climatología, la fertilidad de sus tierras y el saber hacer de sus gentes. Históricamente la posición geográfica intercontinental y la estructura socioeconómica favoreció la introducción diferentes variedades de frutas y hortalizas que están presentes hoy en día en nuestros platos, como elementos propios e imprescindibles. La fertilidad de nuestras tierras y la presencia de diferentes microclimas fomentan la diversidad de cultivos y la excelente calidad de los mismos. El control exhaustivo garantiza el correcto manejo de las técnicas consiguiendo unos frutos con características de calidad inmejorables, en color, peso, sabor, aromas, frescura, contenidos de vitaminas y minerales, etc. Gracias a estas materias primas y al manejo con sabiduría de las técnicas de elaboración y presentación de los platos la cocina canaria se sitúa en una posición ventajosa, capaz de satisfacer al más exigente paladar. Podríamos decir que la tradición y la innovación se complementan para servir desde el plato más tradicional al más evolucionado. Es difícil resumir tal variedad, hay que probarla: el potaje de jaramagos, el de berros, el caldo de cilantros, el caldo de millo, las papas arrugadas, los mojos. Y con sabor a mar: los caldos de pescado, las sardinas asadas, el atún en adobo, son platos que nos remontan antaño pero que hoy en día están presentes en los hogares canarios y en la oferta de restauración para el deleite de todos. No podemos dejar de mencionar el empleo de hierbas aromáticas y especias tanto en la elaboración de platos como para la preparación de salsas, adobos y mojos. Con ellas se aporta no solo sabor y aroma, sino que muchos de ellos tienen efectos beneficiosos para la salud. Entre las más usados están el comino, el tomillo, el laurel, el pimentón, el azafrán, el orégano, el perejil, la hierba huerto, la matalaúva, hierba Luisa y romero. Es fácil encontrarlas en los mercadillos de los pueblos y en las tiendas especializadas. Una parte importante fruto del esfuerzo de hombres y mujeres, del trabajo con distintas clases de ganado, han dado unos resultados excepcionales con numerosos platos de carne, que a la brasa, asados, en salsas, etc., bajo un denominador común “exquisito sabor” enriquecen las mesas: las carajacas, el baifito en salsa, los chorizos, etc.

Hablando del ganado no se puede omitir, los quesos, que también de forma esquemática responden a una zonificación: de cabra ( todo el sur y zonas de cumbre), de oveja (medianías del norte), de mezcla con oveja de cabra (sureste y noreste) o con oveja y vaca ( norte y noroeste) o de vaca (centro- norte). También hay que destacar nuestra cocina dulce, variada y rica. La presencia de numerosos almendros en la cumbre de la Isla permite la elaboración de diferentes manjares como mazapanes, bienmesabe, turrones o almendrados. No siendo éstos las únicas delicias, a la interminable lista se unen los deliciosos bizcochos y suspiros de Moya; las truchas de batata y de cabello de ángel, los huevos mole, así como todas las recetas que tienen como ingrediente principal el gofio.

When you discover Gran Canaria and its flavours, you also discover the different areas of the island, some associated with a rural culture and others with the coast, each providing the dinner table with different species of animals and vegetables, giving your imagination free rein to travel from the interior down to the coast. Practically every one the Island’s 21 municipal boroughs has managed to combine the flavours of the land and the sea in an exquisite cuisine. It is difficult to give a summary of such variety; it has to be tasted: hedge mustard stew, cress stew, coriander broth, corn broth, “papas arrugadas” –new potatoes boiled in their jackets–, the “mojo” sauces.

And from the sea: fish soup, grilled sardines, tuna in a marinade. These are all dishes with a long tradition, but which have maintained their presence in Canary Island households and restaurants for everyone to enjoy. We cannot forget the use of aromatic herbs, both for elaborating dishes and in the preparation of sauces, marinades and “mojo” dips. They not only give the dish flavour and aroma, many of them are also beneficial for your health. The most commonly used herbs include cumin, thyme, laurel, paprika, saffron, oregano, parsley, mint, anis lemon verbena and rosemary. They are commonly found in village markets and specialist shops.

The constant effort of men and women, working with different kinds of livestock, has produced exceptional results with a wide range of meat dishes. Whether these are grilled, roasted, served in sauce or whatever, they all share of the common denominator of an “exquisite flavour” that enriches any table: “las carajacas” (fried liver) baby goat meat in sauce, “chorizo” sausages, etc. Talking of livestock, we cannot forget the cheeses, which vary, depending on what kind of milk they are made from and which part of the island they come from: goat’s milk cheese (all the south and the highland areas) sheep’s milk cheese (northern foothills), mixture of goat and sheep milk (south east and north east), mixture of sheep and cow’s milk (north and north west) or cow’s milk (centre - north).

Man muss sie einfach probieren: den Potaje de jaramagos (Doppelsame-Eintopf ), den Potaje de berros (Kresse-Eintopf ), den Caldo de cilantros (Korianderbrühe), den Caldo de millo (Maisbrühe), die Papas arrugadas (Kartoffeln in Salzkruste) und die Mojos (verschiedene Tunken). Und aus dem Meer: Die Caldos de pescado (Fischbrühen), die Sardinas asadas (gegrillte Sardinen) und der Atún en adobo (eingelegter Thunfisch) sind sehr alte und schmackhafte Gerichte, die aber immer noch fester Bestandteil der kanarischen Küche zu Hause und im Restaurant sind. Wichtig zu erwähnen ist die Verwendung von Kräutern und Gewürzen beim Kochen und Braten sowie bei der Zubereitung von Soßen, Marinaden und Tunken. Viele von ihnen geben nicht nur den Speisen Geschmack und Aroma, sondern sie sind auch der Gesundheit zuträglich. Besonders zu erwähnen sind hier vor allem Kümmel, Thymian, Paprika, Safran, Oregano, Petersilie, Minze, Zitronenstrauch und Rosmarin. Man findet sie ganz leicht auf den Wochenmärkten in den Dörfern und in den entsprechenden Fachgeschäften.

Das Ergebnis der ausgezeichneten Arbeit unserer Viehzüchter ist die Qualität des Fleisches, das gegrillt, als Braten, mit Soße, etc. auf unsere Teller kommt. Es verdient durchweg das Prädikat “hervorragender Geschmack”. Beispiele: Leber in pikanter Soße, junger Ziegenbraten, Grill-Paprikawurst, etc. Wenn man vom Vieh spricht, kommt man nicht umhin, über Käse zu sprechen. Die verschiedenen Sorten lassen sich nach Herkunftsgebiet klassifizieren. Ziegenkäse (Süden der Insel und Berge im Zentrum der Insel), Schafskäse (mittlere Lagen und Norden der Insel), Mischung aus Schaf und Ziege (Südosten und Nordosten), Schaf und Kuh (Norden und Nordosten) und Kuh (Zentrum und Norden).

Ebenfalls zu erwähnen sind die abwechslungsreichen und schmackhaften Süßspeisen. Da es in den Bergen im Zentrum der Insel zahlreiche Mandelbäume gibt, sind deren Früchte natürlich auch in den Süßspeisen präsent: Marzipan, süßes Mandelmus, Nougat und Mandelgebäck. Damit sind die Süßspeisen noch lange nicht erschöpft. Die Liste ist schier unendlich: Biskuits, Gebäcke Mit Batatenund Kürbisfüllung, süße Eiercreme und zahlreiche Rezepte, deren Hauptzutat das Gofio (geröstetes Maismehl) ist. Auf Gran Canaria werden auch exzellente Weine hergestellt, die man praktisch zu jedem Gericht trinken kann. Es gibt zwei offizielle Herkunftsbezeichnungen (D.O.), und zwar “Monte Lentiscal” und “Gran Canaria”.
