L’ Ostriconi

At only At only twenty minutes from l’Île- Rousse, the beach of Ostriconi is a paradise on earth, located in the west of Corsica. It mainly belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral. A natural site that has nothing to envy the Caribbean beaches, if it is an additional Corsican ham in your bag. This postcard, in a wild environment, preserved from any urbanization, is on the council of Palasca.

The access to the cove of Peraiola, at the bottom of which the beach is hiding, is possible from the old national road. On the T30, after taking the exit for the camping of Ostriconi, going straight will bring you to a parking. From this area, it is on foot that you will follow the path, taking on the right. It leads to the pond of Foce, to a little bridge allowing to cross over this bucolic landscape, where reeds and birds live quietly. After a few hundred meters, the beach appears with its turquoise water. It is supervised during the summer, but doesn’t have any sanitary facilities, bar or restaurants. You will then need to bring your picnic, as well as a tablecloth to throw on the sand.

With its large sandbars, and not so deep waters, Ostriconi is ideal for young kids that will play freely. There is another game area appreciated by visitors : the dunes. Windswept by strong west winds, the sand flies away to create coastal dunes, as far as the sides of Punta Liatoggiu. Culminating at 200 meters altitude, this modest summit offers a striking view over the beach and the dunes, as well as the coast stretching until l’Île-Rousse. The Ostriconi, is also a border between Balagne and the Agriates desert, that is it possible to discover from the beach, following the coast pathway.
