Russell’s real estate career began when he was licensed in 2018. Sheena began her adventure in the business in 2020.

“Through that time, I handled sales, distribution and service. While doing that, I was responsible for distribution of almost every major beer brand except Budweiser while working for the largest wholesalers on the east coast,” Russell remembers. “I also worked in insurance. While I was talking with insurance clients, one of the big things they talked about was wanting to buy a house. So I thought it was worth it to get my real estate license and do both for the client at the same table. “

“She talked with me about how she just got licensed. We shared a lot of the same qualities. She was licensed in Jersey and was in the process of doing so in Pennsylvania,” Russell says. “We met a few times to go over the transaction process in Pennsylvania. From my viewpoint, it blossomed from there. We had a lot of similarities. About a year later, she agreed to work together.”

Before Sheena earned her license, she served the nation in the U.S. Air Force from 2009 to 2013. As part of that, she was deployed to Iraq in 2010. She went on to earn her degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers – Camden. Eventually, she worked in law enforcement.

Shakita’s parents “thought outside of the box.” They were both employees at “regular jobs” while simultaneously owning and operating various suc cessful family businesses, including an arcade and laundromat. Her father was not only a veteran with an entrepreneurial mindset, he was also aware of the generational impact of owning real estate and had several investment properties of his own.

Although she was shy as a child, Shakita had a deep drive to help people; especially veterans. To challenge herself to grow beyond her comfort level, she pursued a degree in Communication and worked in sales and customer service for several years.

2015 was Shakita’s year. She was working as a volunteer assistant and fundraiser for Handbags For The Homeless and she enrolled in a real estate course. Her initial goal was to become an agent so that she could be more savvy with her own real estate investments and thereby impact the greatest number of veterans.

Alexa grew up in a multicultural neighborhood in northeast Philadelphia. She was influenced by her parents who taught her a very strong work ethic. Alexa’s father was always the hardest worker in the room and that made her aspire to be the same type of person.

Alexa’s true hero was her grandmother. She spoke Hungarian and many other languages as well. She had survived Auschwitz and then lived a life of intentional determination. She did not let the past dictate her future.

“We lived in a wonderful neighborhood where I was surrounded by many cultures,” Alexa recalled, “and it created a passion to connect with people in their culture. As a pre-teen, Alexa started helping set up banquets at the restaurant her father, Rick, managed. She learned to cater as well. The most important lessons he taught her were about positive work ethic, and determination to succeed.

Rick encouraged Alexa that she could achieve anything if she truly put her mind to it. He taught her to live by the core values of integrity and trustworthiness. Alexa would carry these lessons with her throughout life.

In 2011, Alexa traveled to study abroad in Spain. It was a dream come true! She was not only able to experience people in their own amazing culture, but she also truly loved being able to communicate in another language during her travels.

In 2013 Alexa was introduced to a company that connected referrals and repeat customers for REALTORS®. She started out in their sales department, but felt that it was not the best fit for her skill set and passion for connection. She transferred to customer service and then became a marketing coach.

Her continuous connections with REALTORS® caused Alexa to ask herself why she wasn’t an agent. She realized that she could excel in that position because of her compassion and dedication to helping others. In September 2015 she enrolled in a real estate course, and by December 2015 Alexa was licensed.

“I went full-time immediately,” she shared. “I love real estate! It can be a roller coaster, but I promise to treat each person like family, and keep them on the same page. 2016 was a monumental year for Alexa. It was the year she met her husband and stepchildren. It was the beginning of a new life filled with love and hope. That year she also had her greatest travel adventure. Alexa went to Israel for a 10-day birthright experience. That continued to fuel her love for her culture, travel, and connecting with others. She ended her first full year as a REALTOR® by being awarded Rookie of the Year.

Alexa has been a solo agent for all but six months of her real estate career. She dreams of one day creating a five-person team. For now, she is striving to connect with others so she can help at least 50 families each year. She has also set a goal to begin learning American Sign Language, so she can expand her ability to communicate with others.

My grandparents grew anything at all you’d want to eat right there in our back gardens, though my grandmother’s favorite plants to meddle with were, by far, her houseplants. As Ife came of age, they went on to earn their BFA degree in Acting from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. There, Ife continued to cultivate their craft.

“After school, a lot of my friends went to New York City or Los Angeles to pursue acting, but I was drawn to come back to Philadelphia,” Ife remembers.

That’s exactly what they did. After graduated in 2014, Ife dove in and became a very engaged part of the local theatrical community.

“During that time, I also started to live above my means. I realized that the way I wanted to live with comfort, luxuries and security wasn’t something I was going to be able to do as a stage actor,” Ife remembers. “There were also the challenges of being a Black, trans actor that added some additional challenges for me.”

Around that time, Ife had a pivotal conversation with one of their friends they had known since sixth grade.
