It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a trip to Peddler’s Village! For decades, locals and travelers alike have flocked to Peddler’s Village during the holi day season, for starting in November, the paths of the village come to life with thousands of sparkling lights and holiday cheer, just in time for this joyous season. All through out the months of November and December, the village has planned festive events to help guests of all ages celebrate the sea son and create memories that will last a lifetime.
The whole celebration begins on Friday, Nov. 11, when Mrs. Claus pays a visit to Peddler’s Village during the Kicko to the Holidays event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Giggleberry Fair. She will be bringing a few of Santa’s elves along with her, who are excited to be o ering a few craft-making work shops during their visit. Not only will families get a chance to meet with Mrs. Claus, but you can even listen along as she reads a story and ride the carousel with her as well. This free event will also include a magic show and a festive treat.
The 22nd annual Grand Illumination Celebration will take place on Nov. 18, 2022. This popular fami ly-favorite event draws guests from all over the county who come to watch Santa flip the switch to light the village at 6:15 p.m. Afterward, stroll along the magnificently lit paths as you visit some of the village’s 60-plus shops and dining locations and watch performances from local groups. The lights will remain lit every night following until Jan. 8, 2023.
The weekend of Nov. 18 through 20 is also the Peddler’s Village’s Merchants’ Open House. Stores will have limited extended hours this weekend until 10 p.m., and each location will o er refreshments as you shop. There’s bound to be some thing in the village for everyone on your gift list in their wide variety of stores that o er items such as jewelry, art, home décor, toys, clothing, specialty food items, adult beverages and so much more!
Another favorite event for the locals is the Peddler’s Village Gingerbread Competition and Display. This holiday tradition has been around since 1984 and is one that families look forward to year after year.
Members of the community put their crafty skills to the test to create gingerbread displays that fit into one of eight cate gories: 1) Professional Gingerbread, 2) Traditional Holiday Gingerbread, 3) Authentic Reproduction Around the World, 4) Incredibly Unusual ThreeDimensional Holiday Gingerbread Creation, 5) Reproduction of a Movie or TV Set, 6) Santa’s Wonderland, 7) Student Gingerbread Creation, 8) Kids Only! Gingerbread Creation. Judges will choose their favorites based on a pre-set scale, and winners will be announced at the Grand Illumination Celebration on Nov. 18. All submis sions will be on display for guests to view and enjoy in the Visitor & Events Center until Jan. 8, 2023.
The festive fun continues Dec. 3 and 4 during Peddler’s Village’s Holly Jolly Weekend. Come by and enjoy all that the village has to o er, and keep an eye out for Santa Claus himself, who will be mak ing an appearance in the Santa Parade both days at 1:30 p.m.!
On select dates in December, Santa and Mrs. Claus have planned visits to Peddler’s Village to dine with guests! Sundays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18, from 10 to 11:30
a.m., breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be located at Giggleberry Fair, where guests can enjoy a special storytime with Mrs. Claus, bu et breakfast, a $5 game card for the arcade and access to Giggleberry Mountain, the Grand Carousel and the Giggles Discovers play area. Then, on Saturday, Dec. 17, Santa will be greeting guests at the Cock n’ Bull restaurant for a delicious brunch.
There is so much to see and do at Peddler’s Village and, of course, plenty of retail options for your shopping pleasure. However, during the months of November and December, there are a few shops within the village that stand out as a mustvisit holiday destination.
The iconic Pine, Wreath and Candle o ers a space where you can “experience the magic of Christmas every day.” Their upper level is filled wall to wall with an incredible selection of ornaments, figurines and other décor to help you deck your halls in style.
Fehrenbach Black Forest Clocks and German Gifts features an entire Christmas room where you can find handblown German glass ornaments, Nativity sets by Anri, Moravian Stars and other tradi tional German holiday décor.
For your shopping and dining pleasure, shopping and dining locations within Peddler’s Village will have extended hours for the holidays. From Nov. 21 through Dec. 30, the hours will be extend ing 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
