The project is located in the coastal area located on the limits of the urban area. The seashore walk has lots of views worthy of advantage, especially in the gazebo area. That is why the project adapts to the topography, giving priority to open spaces over the closed ones, ensuring the use of the landscape and the views.

For a better dialogue with the topography and the inmediate context, the project was conceived as a folding plaque that goes down the hillside, while respecting the natural terrain conditions. The spaces are set in the folds of the plate, forming the ceiling and floor, serving both functions at once.

Li ceoPol i t ĂŠcni co ManuelMont t The Manuel Montt polytechnic highschool is located in Santiago, right in front of the National Stadium on a site that shares with two other highschools. Because of the lack of urban presence and an appealing architectonic design, the proposal seeks to give the institution a potent image that brings it to a competitive position compared to the other schools.

The school's academic program is divided into 2 areas, which have totally different space requirements: The textiles production area, where workshops are organized in the production process order, from the manufacture of yarns and fabrics, to dyeing or printing the fabric until it’s final use to manufacture clothes. The commercial area, which requires conventional classrooms but flexible, so that they can turn into commercial shops managed by themselves, to sell the school uniforms and other kind of clothes that they make. This special characteristic is recognised by the project proposal, dividing the school program in two parts, which are brought together by the more public use program, located in the entrance of the site, giving a recognizable facade to the total complex.

Architecture Contest MOP Government Building, V Region, Chile. The main concept of the design proposal aims to recognize the public character of the MOP (Public Works Ministry). The project seeks to incorporate the public realm logic not only on a formal basis but also programmatic, this space condition is determinant for the conception of the building’s shape. The idea is to generate a ramp-building that recognizes and values the public realm circulation, bringing it to the inside trough a central spiral circulation and ascendants platforms, creating the main circulation path that goes through each of the building’s programs. The ramp offers a complete view of the building from the inside, enabling the user to acknowledge all the activities happening around while he ascends. Being a prolongation of the public realm the ramp also constitutes a place of spontaneous interaction and encounter for the external users, but it also makes more fluid the internal management of the activities of the Ministry.

Blue Iris Ahmedabad, Gujarat. India This project corresponds to a conceptual design proposal for the Indian Architecture Studio Wireframe. The design is for a 2 families - Villa, in the city of Ahmedabad, located in the state of Gujarat, India. Ahmedabad has a hot semi-arid climate, few rains but windy, extremely dry and very hot (up to 41 C). This extreme weather conditions were determinant for the design process, where the aim is to keep the house cool but at the same time protect it from wind and dust. The Villa is positioned on site according to the prevailing winds and sun path, and its divided in 2 main built areas (for each one of the two families) separated by an enclosed ventilated courtyard with gardens and cooling ponds that refresh the air coming from outside. This central space is characterised by the use of a parametric Jali, a contemporary interpretation of a traditional shading element that uses the Voronoi Geometry to make openings that vary their shape and size according to mathematical patterns.

WIREFRAME November 2011

Left: A view of the courtyard showing one of the cooling ponds and green areas. The Voronoi pattern projections give the space enough shadow to make it comfortable, and the green areas growing different kinds of plants also help to cool the environment.

Right:A view of the living room area. In the center of the Villa, on a lower level, conecting the entrance volumes and the putdoor meeting space, this is one of the most important common areas of the project.

WIREFRAME Down:This is the view from the first floor to the axis of the house, the path that links the 2 villas passing through the courtyard.

Redstone Hotel, Anjuna This project corresponds to a design proposal for the German Architecture Studio based in Berlin and also Goa, India: Patzschke Architecture and Urban Design. The design is for a Boutique Hotel with 26 keys, in Anjuna Beach, in the indian state of Goa. The weather here is always hot and humid, except during the off season time when the monson arrives and heavy rains strike. Goa was also a portuguese colony, so you can see this influence reflected on it’s architecture. The design aims to preserve this traditional concepts, giving them a contemporary twist. The site is located in between a small hill to the south, from where the monson rains run down and get collected to water the paddy fields (rice fields) to the north of the site, so the presence of water was a determinant design factor. Taking advatage of the logitudinal shape of the site, a water path is created from the well at the entrance to the paddy fields at the back, going through small fountains to the sides that support the vegetation to the big swimming pool with the view to the rice fields.
