Guards Youth Tournament makes welcome return

The popular Youth Tournament made a welcome return in 2021, delivering thrilling yet fun sport for our younger supporters

Guards Polo Club, supported by La Martina, was delighted to host a competitive Youth Tournament in late August. Some 20 young players were divided into two age groups - 13-15 years old and 8-12 years old. Some familiar names from the high-goal were sprinkled among the five teams such as Toccalino, Monteverde, Muzzio and Araya. The older competitors took part in four chukkas of four minutes each while the younger ones played three chukkas of fi ve minutes each.

Lucio Toccalino, a member of La Martina Minis, was named the Most Valuable Player in the younger category, while the judges could not decide between Estanislao Darritchon (Guards Polo Club) and Juana Lavinia (La Martina) in the senior class. With the Club providing a post-match BBQ and La Martina giving away lots of prizes this event was as much about having fun as competing to win. 8-12s:La Martina Minis: Lucio Toccalino, Ava Southwell, Ruby Byrne, Felix Toccalino.
