Future You

Story by Joanna Santana | Design by Daniel Chiqui

As a college student, it is easy to find yourself going through the motions of your daily routine. Going to class, working, staying sane, eating, doing homework, sleeping, and then... doing it all over again!

We get it. We feel that. We do! Let’s think about the big picture for a minute. Actually, let’s fast forward and paint a mental picture instead.

You’re looking in the mirror as you slip on your graduation gown, and it feels surreal. Outside your door everything is buzzing but inside your room –there is silence. You stare at your reflection as you think about who you’ve become and who you’ll be after today.

It doesn’t all happen at once. Passing your classes and getting through finals all amounted to this moment.

It doesn’t all happen at once. Passing your classes and getting through finals all amounted to this moment: the day you get your diploma. Yet, what about the day after? Do you envision yourself dressed in a suit entering corporate halls or do you see yourself dressed in a uniform as a first responder? Maybe a teacher drafting together an Amazon list for a new classroom?

Whatever the case may be, the Wildcat Career Network is here to help make that happen. There are a variety of career fairs, Dress for Success events, resume seminars, and visiting keynote professionals that will help you feel prepared for the day after graduation.

Don’t get caught up in the web of current happenings without thinking about future you. Take a moment this winter to create an ideal mental picture of what your future looks like after you cross the big stage and then sit down and map out all the career building events you can attend to help you feel great about your life after graduation.

We wouldn’t want to make any more work for you so we’ve made it easy. Scan the QR code on this spread to visit our link tree. There you can find links to the CWU events calendar and a link to the Wildcat Career Network webpage. You can also follow us on Instagram to stay tuned for more career prep opportunities!

Onward and upward, Wildcats! Future you will be thankful.
