ince 2013, the first Toyota Proace vehicles were based on the current generation Peugeot Expert and Citroën Dispatch vehicles. Toyota Motor Europe participated in the development and industrial investment costs for the new vehicles. The vehicles share all technical features, powertrains and equipment and propose a distinctive styling rooted in each of the brand’s design language. The aim of the collaboration is for the three parties to offer a competitive product in the mid-size, light commercial vehicle, shuttle and family Combi segments, while benefitting from development and production cost optimisation. The new Peugeot Traveller, new Citroen Spacetourer and the new Toyota Proace will be produced at PSA Group’s plant at Sevelnord in Valenciennes, France. It was agreed at the start of the collaboration in 2012 that the companies would work together on its next generation vehicles in a co-operative programme that would last beyond 2020. Automobiles Peugeot has revealed its latest model: the new Peugeot Traveller. Derived from Peugeot’s midsize Expert van, the new Peugeot Traveller will be first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016 and will go on sale in Ireland next summer. Two versions of the Peugeot Traveller will be on offer; a flexible 7-seater MPV version, perfect for family motoring, and a luxury executive version for business shuttle use.

MERCEDES-BENZ IN IRELAND C-Class Coupe

2016 to be a busy year

he first few months will see six new models arrive. The most important of these will be a new E-Class saloon that, along with the C-Class range, accounts for the lion’s share of total Mercedes-Benz sales here in Ireland.

Other early arrivals will be the stylish new C-Class coupe (pictured); a GLS luxury SUV (replacing the GL); plus three models likely to appeal to those with a sporty eye; a new SL, a SLC (which replaces the SLK) and the S-Class cabriolet. Arriving towards the middle of the

year will be an revised CLA, a new C-Class cabriolet and a new CLC-coupe, followed in the second six months by an all-new E-Class estate. Pointing to the fact that 2016 will see a continuation of what has been the most active period of new model development in Mercedes-Benz’s history,

their sales manager in Ireland, Ciaran Allen, predicts that when the next 12 months have passed, the luxury car maker will have established what he terms ‘an unrivalled presence’ in virtually every model segment, with a particular emphasis on those that he says ‘ooze youth appeal, elegance and sportiness’.

A fantastic opportunity to own an ex-BMC competition department ‘works’ car, the first to be officially entered into an international event, the 1958 Liege Rome Liege Rally. Driven by John Gott and navigated by Ray Brookes, the car accomplished an incredible 10th place overall and 4th in class. Presented in an outstanding condition, this example is a testament to its four previous enthusiastic owners. Its accompanying history file contains lots of period items, including more than a dozen motor sport magazine articles, describing the car’s life and times. Estimate (£): 70,000 - 80,000

A modified MGC, raced by Mark Burnside. This MGC GT is a very quick car, having held a number of lap records in its day and now offers numerous options for competition. The car benefits from an engine rebuild, carried out by Steve James Engineering in 2010, during which new Cosworth pistons, valves and new valve seats were incorporated, among other adjustments. With a good period history, there is always the prospect of gaining historic papers, offering access to a number of glamorous international events, or it could happily be used as a reliable, much admired, weekend club racer. Manufactured on 8th March 1960, this original 3.8 litre XK150 roadster was sold new by Jaguar Cars New York and was subsequently repatriated to the UK prior to restoration. Finished in its original colour combination of Cotswold Blue, with matching Dark Blue interior and blue hood, the car underwent a complete body off restoration approximately 15 years ago, by respected marque specialists XK Engineering. It has been used sparingly since and is accompanied by an interesting history file. This car is a fine example of the model and would take pride of place in any Jaguar collection. Ten hand picked classic cars, from each of the world’s six top car producing nations, 60 classics in all, will bring the 2016 London Classic Car Show from the 18th to the 21st February to life, as they parade up and down the show’s centrepiece: “The Grand Avenue”. Unique to the London Classic Car Show, “The Grand Avenue”, is a highway that runs through the centre of the exhibition and along which some of the world’s finest classic cars are driven. “The Grand Avenue” turns the Show from a static exhibition, into a moving feast, allowing visitors to see and hear their favourite cars in action. At last year’s inaugural show, “The Grand Avenue” played host to a wide variety of 40 classic cars, with highlights including a Maserati 250F once raced by Stirling Moss and one of James Hunt’s iconic Marlboro McLarens. But like the rest of

the show, which is almost doubling in size, “The Grand Avenue” will be significantly longer in 2016, providing space for more classics to parade at the same time. “Everyone has a favourite classic, whether it’s a Italian thoroughbred from Ferrari, a futuristic Citroen DS from France or a brawny V8 powered Mustang from the US. By assembling ten of the finest classic cars from each of the Six Nations and parading them along “The Grand Avenue”, we can ask show goers to decide for themselves, what’s their favourite car making country,” said Event Director Bas Bungish. Although the final list of cars has yet to be confirmed, among the marques promised are Ferrari and Lamborghini from Italy, Ford and Chevrolet from the US, Bentley and Jaguar (UK), Bugatti and Citroën (France), Mercedes and BMW (Germany) and Datsun and Toyota from Japan.
