in Bloom with their generous $1,500 donation to the Giving Tuesday Now initiative. Their gift is crucial in getting Therapeutic Gardens up and running for the many vulnerable older adults in long-term care. Therapeutic Gardens help give isolated seniors with dementia and other complex care conditions a place to go outside safely, experience fresh air, and plant and care for a garden of their own. Along with donations from around the community, over $6,000 was raised for both residents and healthcare staff appreciation.

Thank you for caring from the heart. Visit Taborvillage.org to learn how you can be a part of the Tabor family today.

Is It A Good Idea To Buy Property With Your Family? The Dangers and the Reality The slow relaxation of social-distancing rules is occurring. That means we’ll soon be gathering for meals, laughs and conversation. Remember last summer’s fun family get-togethers? We sure took them for granted, didn’t we? Well, not this year, let’s appreciate them when they occur. Good meals, good laughs, good music and some rousing family arguments they’re all a part of the package we call family. We know what to expect, we know how each person usually behaves, or misbehaves, the patterns have been set over the many decades of the family get-togethers.

This is especially true after these many months of social distancing, where older parents couldn’t hug their adult kids and grandchildren weren’t able to visit their grandparents. B.C. strengthens federal commercial rent program

B

.C. businesses eligible for rent support from the federal government will be protected from evictions as the B.C. government issues a new order under the Emergency Program Act (EPA). “The federal launch of the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) program has been a welcome step in B.C., but we heard from small businesses that they need us to help fill a gap that has left some of them unable to get the support they need,” said Carole James, Minister of Finance. “We’re listening to small businesses and have their backs. Preventing landlords who are eligible for CECRA from evicting tenants can encourage landlords to apply for the program and give some temporary relief to businesses who have been hardest hit by the pandemic.” Eligible businesses whose landlords choose not to apply for the federal CECRA program will be protected from evictions due to unpaid rent payments through to the end of June 2020, as determined by the federal program timelines.

The EPA order restricts the termination of lease agreements and the repossession of goods and property. The CECRA program provides relief for small businesses experiencing severe financial hardship due to COVID-19. It offers forgivable loans to eligible commercial property owners to reduce the rent owed by their impacted small business tenants and to meet operating expenses on commercial properties.

Property owners must offer a minimum of a 75% rent reduction for the months of April, May and June 2020. The CECRA loans to landlords will be forgiven if the landlord complies with program terms and conditions, including an agreement to not recover forgiven rent amounts when the program is over. The emergency order restricting evictions is effective immediately. This latest measure also aims to put B.C. businesses in a stronger position to participate in the Province’s restart and recovery plan.

Last summer, the married father of three was dealing with excruciating back pain and a general uneasiness, which he originally chalked up to nothing more than fatigue. A trip to see his doctor soon sent him to the hospital for blood tests, which was followed by a PET/CT scan. Abbotsford Community Foundation takes part in new Emergency Community Support Fund $221,000 in funding available in Abbotsford for charities supporting COVID-19 response Abbotsford Community Foundation announced this week it will provide $221,000 to support local charities responding to COVID-19 as part of a new partnership with Community Foundations of Canada, United Way Centraide Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, funded through the Government of Canada’s $350M Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF). This vast national effort aims to support vulnerable populations disproportionately affected by COVID-19. The Abbotsford Community Foundation is among community foundations across Canada that are taking part. “This is a vital step in the fight against COVID-19,” says Andrea Senft, Board Chair of the Abbotsford Community Foundation. “Local charities and nonprofit organizations have been working tirelessly to support those who need it most right now. This additional funding is a much-needed boost to their efforts. We’re looking forward to flowing funds quickly to ensure no one in our community is left behind.” The Emergency Community Support Fund was initially announced on April 21, 2020 by the Prime Minister of Canada. It is part of a broad series of emergency response measures by the Government of Canada. “Canadian charities and not for profits are always there to help you, in your

time of need. But the COVID-19 pandemic is bringing real challenges to these important organizations. With today’s announcement, the Government of Canada will be there for them so they can continue to be there for Canadians.” - The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Starting on May 19, the Abbotsford Community Foundation will begin accepting applications for funding from qualified donees. Grants can be used for a variety of purposes, including to cover staffing or resource needs, purchase assistance and more. Funding will be issued on an ongoing basis through July 2020. Charities and community organizations are invited to visit the foundation website for eligibility and application details. “At Community Foundations of Canada, our purpose to “relentlessly pursue a future where everyone belongs” has never felt more important than it does right now,” said Andrea Dicks, Community Foundations of Canada President. “We’re grateful for the leadership of local community foundations like the Abbotsford Community Foundation, who have been at the forefront of local response efforts since the pandemic was declared. Thanks to the Government of Canada’s contribution, our network will be able to unlock even more local impact for organizations serving vulnerable groups, helping us set the stage for more inclusive, resilient and sustainable communities.”

There can be some good news or opportunities connected to finances. Things are moving into a busier stage to late May where you can re-establish contact with friends or a group of people in either a work or personal situation. You won’t feel completely freed up but things will steadily head in that direction to late June.

Decide what you want or need to be committed to when it comes to long-term plans. There could be a need to return to the past in some way. This will most likely be connected to finances and require your attention to late May. There can be a change to what needs to be your priorities. Utilise who you know to get ahead.

Mercury, your ruling planet, moves into your sign this week where it will remain until 29th May. That held back feeling from late April, will begin to ease. Social activity will slowly begin to return to normal with Venus turning around in your sign until 25th June. You could also be mentally clearer on what you should focus on.

Difficulty in gaining clarity on the true intentions of somebody else could suddenly become clearer and this could be from information passed on by another person. It would be wise to contemplate your position until late May because there are other things that will have a way of turning themselves around outside of your control.

Actions that other people have taken that may have affected your work since late April will now go through change, giving you greater flexibility to late May. This will come with the support of others. Involvement with a group of people in either a personal or work situation will continue to turn around up to late June. Be patient.

You can put the final touches on anything you have been diligently working on since late March as you prepare yourself to be busily in contact with others, one way or another until late June. If you feel there are commitments that need to be changed, focus on this until late May. Look cautiously into any new obligations presented.

A much better view of the future should begin to emerge, giving you a good perspective until late May on plans you can make for the future. You have had time to consider all sorts of options since early April and you might be surprised to find that staying with something you have known in the past will appeal the most.

You can be dealing with some very firm opinions when it comes to others and perhaps things you have put in place. Being too forceful with your ideas will not work – it will drive them to become secretive. They need to see that you are willing to compromise. This is the only way they will accept what you have structured.

You can come out of hibernation and get back to some normal activity with other people. There will be much to communicate about to late May and this can include turning something around to get back to some normality by late June. Whatever you have been thinking about putting in place since late March should be worked on too

Life can be busy with a lot more running around or the need to get in touch from now to late June. There will be a lot of work to do that involves detail to late May. You can also begin to get back to some normal routines – this will continue through to late June. It could bring an abrupt end to any recent opportunity to rest more.

You can gain clear insight into what you should develop in your life in a more serious manner from next year onwards that would result in greater pleasure. From now to late June you can review what you have enjoyed in the past and want to continue with but also include some alternatives that would provide greater interest.

Mars moves into your sign this week where it will remain until 28th June. This creates the beginning of a new 2 year cycle. Your energy level should pick up as well as your self-confidence. This corresponds with having alternative ideas to late May with what you want to put into place and returning some things to normal again.
