Existing AMCT at Surrey Memorial Hospital and Royal Columbian Hospital will expand to include one new social worker on each team. These new positions will play a pivotal role in helping people transition safely to services in the community. VHAC uses virtual technology to provide addictions medicine consultations to more people where they are and when they need it. VHAC opened in March 2020 and quickly reached capacity due to high demand for virtual services. This expansion will allow VHAC to offer services to more

locations and further reduce barriers that prevent people from getting the help they need. These new and expanded services are part of the $132-million investment over the next three years for treatment and recovery services through Budget 2021’s historic $500-million investment in mental health and addictions care. Enhancing B.C.’s response to the overdose emergency is an integral part of A Pathway to Hope, B.C.’s roadmap for building the comprehensive system of mental health and addictions care British Columbians deserve.

B.C. working to strengthen protection for home buyers To better protect consumers in B.C.’s real estate market, the Province is introducing legislation that requires cooling off periods for resale properties and newly built homes.

Surrey Women’s Clinic srI ivimns klIink We are pleased to offer VOTIVA and FRACTORA Treatment at Surrey Women's Clinic! FRACTORA is a non-invasive radio frequency and rejuvenation of the face skin. VOTIVA is the most advanced medical treatment for feminine wellness. If you suffer from the following: • Vaginal dryness • Vaginal itchiness • Stress urinary incontinence (passing urine while doing activities) • Vaginal Atrophy Prolapse We can help you!

This change will be similar to the cooling off periods already in place for pre-construction condominium sales. BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) is being asked to consult with key stakeholders and experts and review other potential consumer protection measures. This includes looking at the blind bidding system, as well as condition waiving in offers and other practices that may pose risks to consumers. These issues are being investigated in the context of a period of continued robust real estate market activity, where concerns have been raised that buyers may be purchasing a home without everything they need to make fully informed decisions. “People looking to buy a home need to know they are protected as they make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Especially in periods of heightened activity in the housing market, it’s crucial that we have effective measures in place so that people have the peace of mind that they’ve made the right choices,” said Selina Robinson, Minister of Finance. “With this step, we’re moving ahead to protect people and their interests in the real estate market by bringing in a cooling off period for homebuyers and looking at additional measures to ensure effective safeguards are in place.”

will present advice to government in early 2022. Enabling legislation for cooling off periods will be drafted and targeted for introduction in spring 2022.

“Ensuring fair markets and promoting public confidence in B.C.’s real estate market is a key priority of BCFSA, and we welcome the direction from the minister to lead this valuable consultation work,” said Blair Morrison, CEO of BCFSA and superintendent of real estate. “BCFSA’s goal is to ensure that British Columbians are protected when buying and selling homes – one of the most important financial transactions of their lives. Both buyers and sellers need to be supported and have time to make good financial decisions.” On Aug. 1, 2021, BCFSA became the single regulator for all financial services in B.C., including real estate. The creation of a single authority responsible for regulating real estate in B.C. helps ensure a more coordinated approach to regulating all parts of the financial sector and better protects British Columbians buying and selling homes.

Cooling off periods are limited periods of time in which buyers can change their minds and cancel the purchase with no or diminished legal consequences. What to look for when buying a new smart device (NC) The holidays are one of the most popular times of the year for big purchases like smart phones, TVs, gaming systems or home assistants. If there’s a smart device on your shopping list this year, here are a few things to keep in mind. Security features Depending on what you’re buying, your device could be transmitting or storing personal data. If this data gets into the wrong hands, it could lead to digital identity theft. No matter what the device, you should be looking at what security features they offer. Certain models may be more expensive, but they could have crucial security features you should be using. Make sure your device gives you the ability to create your own strong and unique password. Privacy policy

Certain smart devices, like a phone or home system, can capture a lot of private information about you. Your daily routine, health and fitness habits, and your personal banking information are all examples of data that could be on these devices. When you’re looking for the right device, check to see how the vendor will protect your information. Certain companies will have stronger policies when it comes to protecting your data. Getting a new device for the holidays always brings lots of excitement and joy. If you’re bringing home a new smart device this season, keep the device’s security features and the vendor’s privacy policy in mind to make that new device joy last. STEAM week statement Brenda Bailey, Parliamentary Secretary for Technology and Innovation, Anne Kang, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training, Grace Lore, Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity, and Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Education, have issued the following statement in support of B.C. Women and Girls in STEAM Week (Nov. 1-7): “B.C. Women and Girls in STEAM Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate the achievements of women and non-binary people in science, technology, engineering, art and design, and math (STEAM) and encourage more women and girls to pursue technology-related areas of study. “The pandemic has shown us how important a career in STEAM can be and the impacts it can have on people around the world. Women in STEAM have been on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19, in health care, research, technology innovation and so much more.

“We’re working to increase the number of female students in technology-related areas of study in B.C.’s public secondary and post-secondary system, and the credentials being awarded to women in STEAM. “To help close the STEAM gender gap, we are partnering with Innovate BC, Mitacs, and the Information and Communications Technology Council to help up to 3,000 people from under-represented communities, including women and non-binary people, 2SLGBTQ+, Indigenous, Black and people of colour, get their first job in the tech sector or in a techenabled role through the Innovator Skills Initiative program. The Province’s investment of $15 million is being supplemented by the partners, bringing the total investment in the program to $29 million.

“We are so fortunate to have a role “We’re also investing approximately model like provincial health officer $7 million through the Digital Technology Supercluster to support the Canadian Tech Talent Accelerator program to help up to 2,000 unemployed and underemployed youth and young adults from under-represented communities, including women, improve their tech skills and knowledge.

Have you been injured in an accident or another harmful incident and are considering suing the at-fault party but do not know where to begin? Or maybe you are unsure about how a personal injury lawyer can help you or what benefits you may be entitled to receive?.Today, we introduce you to the fundamentals of personal injury law and provide you with an overview of how a personal injury lawyer can help you. What is Personal Injury Law? Personal injury law (also known as tort law) allows victims of accidents or other wrongful incidents to file a civil lawsuit to claim compensation for damages, like medical expenses and wage losses. Compensation not only covers existing medical costs but can also include reasonable future expenses for your care, such as medication, equipment, ongoing rehabilitative treatment, assistance with housekeeping and personal care, etc. Personal injury law is often associated exclusively with bodily harm, but emotional damage, pain and suffering, and PTSD are also included in personal injury. Types of Personal Injury Claims Accidents, intentional acts, defective products, and defamation are all part of personal injury. Accidents include slip and falls, medical malpractice and motor vehicle accidents (subject to recent ICBC no-fault legislation). Intentional acts include activities that are purposely performed to harm you, such as assault and battery. Defective products include injuries caused by products that are defective or dangerous for human consumption. And last but not least there is defamation, which refers to actions that cause harm to your image, and can result in wage losses and emotional suffering and distress.

STA’s 101 on Personal Injury Law

You will need to get familiar with multiple elements and terms when you begin a personal injury claim. Although every claim is different, plaintiff, defendant, settlement, and liability are probably the most recurrent terms you will hear during your claim. Plaintiff: A plaintiff is the person who was injured from a wrongful act or accident and initiates a claim against the at-fault party in a court of law. To simplify it, a plaintiff is the person who starts the lawsuit. Defendant: The defendant is the person whose actions allegedly caused an injury or loss to the plaintiff. The defendant is the person being sued. In many personal injury claims, the defence is funded by an insurance company from insurance purchased by the defendant. Settlement: A settlement occurs when the defendant and the plaintiff agree on compensation to resolve the claim. The defendant agrees to pay this amount, eliminating the need for a judge to resolve the controversy. Liability: In law, liability is the legal responsibility of the at-fault party to compensate the injured party. Sometimes, liability is 100% given to one party, but you can also be found partially liable for an accident. In this case, the calculation of your settlement will be reduced by the percentage of fault. E.g., if you are 10% at fault, you will recover 90% of the assessed damages.

as these claims can be complex, delicate, and take a long time to settle or resolve. It is important you feel comfortable communicating with your legal team. If there is anything you feel unclear about when it comes to somebody else, you should set out to discuss it. This could clear up presumptions or uncertainties on both sides. An opportunity can present itself which will allow you to make future plans that can be pleasure orientated or that will satisfy your priorities more so.

Your interest will be moving forward in a manner that will open you up to greater freedom and enjoyment in the long term. Other people involved might be expecting more than you can realistically manage. There will be challenges but as long as you focus on the details or work that needs to be done you will eventually get there.

Anything that has been important to you on a personal level during the last two years can now reach a stage where you feel you are in a better position to do things your way. You might get some opposition from somebody who thinks they know better but there will be ways of either getting support or working around them.

You could realise the amount of work involved in something you thought was important, isn’t worth it. You may need to change your priorities based on the expectations of somebody else. Before you do, you should consider the amount of control or the limitations that come with this. Your independence can’t be put aside

Work hard on finalising things that need to be put into place so that you will be free to enjoy yourself more. It will not hurt to question any pressure somebody else is placing on you to perhaps get things done more quickly. It might simply mean pointing out the amount of work involved if matters are to be dealt with properly.

Follow what you believe is the most balanced approach when it comes to putting things in place or dealing with family matters. Don’t be influenced by somebody attempting to make you feel guilty or perhaps sorry for them. You need to act on what you consider you can handle because it will work best and be the most efficient.

It may be necessary to make a final decision Being prepared to be serious, as well as

to weigh up opportunities that you know you successful rewards. It might take a while to be can enjoy against accepting limitations that as financially satisfying as you would like but can result in restricting potential future growth. if you are determined to persist, your rewards will materialise.

In any situation where discussion will take place be cautious as to the underlying agenda of those involved. This is not a time for you to be forthright with your ideas to get things going. You need to see what is put forward. That way it will become obvious as to where there is support, as well as the opportunity to have your say.

Catching up with friends or acquaintances and be most relaxing and enjoyable as long as you ensure your responsibilities don’t suffer. There is no reason to spend more money than you feel comfortable about. Stand your ground in any situations where somebody else expects you to accept the way they want to do things.

Finances could encourage you to reconsider something that was an important priority, especially if it involved travel or that it was for reasons of getting away from it all. You could enjoy the feeling of having money behind you for when the unexpected arises. Being able to let your mind wander can be a relaxing practice.

There is little point in attempting to avoid responsibilities, especially with people who have authority in some way. You will benefit more from being prepared to negotiate in such a manner that you give assurances you will see things through. From your standpoint, you need visualise yourself taking these future directions.

The khiladi fan club Akshay Kumar is on cloud nine with all the love he has been receiving for his cop-action flick ‘Sooryavanshi’.The film that is the third film of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, released worldwide on the festive occasion of Diwali . This film comes 18 months after theatres around the country were shut down to prevent the spread of covid-19. While film lovers flocked to the theatres to catch a screening of the film, and give it a smashing Rs 26.50 crore opening, Akki’s fans around the country, celebrate the film’s release in true desi style. Taking to Twitter, fans showed their displays of love and affection for the star. While some fans got together at the theatres and cut a customised cake to celebrate the film’s launch, others erected giant posters and garlanded them saying, “Khiladi has arrived to rule.” Akshay took note of all the sweet gestures by his fans and replies to many tweets, saying, “And this brought a huge smile on my face... thank you.” Retweeting photos of his

fans at the theatres, Akshay said, “Thank you for all the love.” Revealing why his latest release ‘Sooryavanshi’ is special to him, Akshay shared a still and wrote, “I’ve done a lot of action in my career...hanging from helicopters, jumping across buildings, crazy bike chases. ‘Sooryavanshi’ is special to me in more w a y s than one, it is my ode to that old-school action but on a grander scale.” ‘Sooryavanshi’ marks the third instalment of Shetty’s cop universe after Ajay Devgn ’s ‘ Singham ’ franchise and Ranveer S i n g h ’ s ‘Simmba’.

The film stars Akshay as AntiTerrorism Squad chief DCP Veer Sooryavanshi and also features Katrina Kaif and Jackie Shroff in supporting roles. The film revolves around Veer Sooryavanshi, who join forces with Inspector Sangram Bhalerao and DCP Bajirao Singham to stop a terrorist group

Anubhav sir is currently in his 2.0 version : Rajkummar There is hardly an actor in Bollywood who doesn’t have Anubhav Sinha on his wish list right now. The director is set to join forces with Rajkummar Rao for the social drama, Bheed. Rao can hardly control his excitement about being Sinha’s leading man. “I have wanted to work with him since Mulk [2018]. Hansal sir [Mehta] and Anubhav sir are currently in their 2.0 version, where they are making great films and raising the bar. Anubhav sir and I have been talking for a while [about a possible collaboration], but it didn’t work out until Bheed,” he says. The film, also featuring Bhumi Pednekar, is set to roll in Lucknow later this month. The drama aside, Rao has the theatrical

release, Badhaai Do and Netflix original Monica O My Darling in the pipeline. Having built his career around content-driven films like Shahid (2013) and Newton (2017), he was among the first few stars to make out-of-the-box stories mainstream. With the OTT boom giving a further boost to content, he says his platform-agnostic attitude has held him in good stead. “As actors, we are never thinking of the medium. What matters is our performance, the character, and that film. My process doesn’t change. Actors like Jaideep Ahlawat and Pratik Gandhi were always wonderful, but they never got the opportunity to showcase their talent [until streaming giants came about]. [The co-existence of] cinemas and OTT will trigger healthy competition, and push us to do better. I have never been insecure about competition or my stardom. I am grateful that I get paid to do what I love the most in the world. In the pandemic when the meaning of life and death has become so apparent, isn’t it better to do what you love and be happy?”

Who is Hrithik’s new neighbour? Sanya Malhotra has reportedly given the best gift to herself by buying a new house in Mumbai. The actress is now said to be one of Hrithik Roshan’s neighbours. According to a report in a news portal, the actress has bought a new house in Juhu, Mumbai. The apartment was owned by builder Samir Bhojwani and was transferred to Sanya’s name . Sanya and her father Sunil Kumar Malhotra paid a stamp duty amount of Rs 71.5 lakh and bought the apartment for Rs 14.3 crores. Interestingly, Hrithik bought two houses worth almost Rs 100 crore last year in the same building. His apartments are reportedly 38,000 sq ft big with a 6,500 sq ft opento-the-sky terrace, with access to 10 parking lot slots in the

building. After making her big debut with Aamir Khan starrer ‘Dangal’, Sanya has been on a roll. She has been picking up the right projects

Horror still a ghost of a genre in Bollywood : Nikita Dutta

Actress Nikita Dutta, who plays the female protagonist in the Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Dybukk’, says apart from the odd movie, horror remains an under-explored genre in Bollywood. Nikita said, “I think one of the very interesting facts to be part of ‘Dybukk’ was its story and genre. It is a pure horror film and in Bollywood, except for very few, we do not get to watch a pure horror-thriller film. ‘Dybukk’ is one of them. Even though it is an official remake of the Malayalam film ‘Ezra’ our makers tried to maintain a certain element of thrill till the end. Usually even in

Bollywood horror films, at times in a serious situation, the story breaks into song and dance. But in ‘Dybukk’ we attempted to maintain the tension. That is why for us, this is a unique film.” The story of the film revolves around a newly-wed couple played by Emraan and Nikita. They unknowingly become part of ‘Dybbuk’. In Jewish mythology, Dybbuk is a malicious possessing spirit. It dislocates the soul of a dead person to achieve a goal. It was the first time Nikita worked with Emraan. She also went through a workshop as part of the preparation for her character Mahi in the film.

Have to credit Zoya for discovering Siddhant Chaturvedi : Saif Actor Saif Ali Khan, who plays the role of the original Bunty in Bunty Aur Babli 2 has heaped praise on Siddhant Chaturvedi and said that filmmaker Zoya Akhtar should be credited for discovering the new actor. “Siddhant is a star, no question about that. For someone so young to have the screen presence that he has and the acting maturity that he exhibits, he is definitely one of the most exciting talents that the industry has chanced upon. We have to credit Zoya Akhtar for discovering him for

Gully Boy [2019] and Adi [Aditya Chopra] for believing that he can be a quintessential hero in a comedy genre, which is one of the toughest for any actor to crack.” Khan reveals that Chaturvedi is a natural in front of the camera and that he was born to be an actor. “He is fantastic in Bunty Aur Babli 2. He lights up the screen with his performance and persona every time. This film will showcase him as a masala Hindi film hero and from what I have seen of him, he thoroughly relishes being one.” Set to release on November 19, the comedy will pit two sets of con artists, from different generations, against each other as they show their mastery over disguises to outwit the other. The film also stars Rani Mukerji and debutante Sharvari.
