Tenet Health’s consolidation to International Plaza in Farmers Branch, was announced June 7, 2019 by Tenet’s Chairman, Ron Rittenmeyer. In the press release statement, Ron said, “International Plaza is a great new home for our corporate headquarters and provides us with the opportunity to further enhance our working environment for the benefit of our colleagues.” The Tenet Health project team, including Perkins&Will was formed in late 2018 during the highly confidential quiet phase of work where the team studied real estate options, developed the early program for occupancy and developed the project budget. Permits for demolition of existing improvements could not move forward until agreements were complete, at the time of the press release. The team was able to achieve completion for occupancy by December 2019. Tenet’s long-term lease in the new 13-story headquarters building is 372,000 SF. This aggressive delivery schedule required a lot of focus and dedication by many team members. Tenet Health’s goal was to create “one enterprise” that merges the best aspect of each of their organization’s cultures. By adopting a singular philosophy and minimizing silos, synergies between all of the users will increase. The new building also allows Tenet to convey their brand and story throughout the office space. The building represents a support system, creating an environment for the people in the office to best support the people in the field. Our design team reflected this approach through messaging and branding. Walking through their space, you’ll find images of hospitals throughout, as well as images of employees working as a united team. The design deploys a universal planning grid with flexible furniture components for any required future reconfiguration. We never imagined that a global pandemic would occur only months after occupancy. Fortunately, the workstation and office configuration allowed social distancing with few modifications. We thank Tenet Health for the opportunity to be part of the team assembled for the project and the successful project by all!

Goal After an in-depth study into Tenet’s workplace requirements, a universal floor plan was implemented to accommodate the varying workstyles. Tenet needed a flexible template that allows for organizational changes now and into the future. Planning principles that were essential include: - Modularity - Collaborative meeting areas - Ample daylight views - Consistent landmarks on each floor - Community spaces
