Upper School Transition Program

Starting in a new school presents students with both challenges and opportunities. We know each student experiences school transitions differently, taking their own time to adjust to their new routines.

Through Pymble’s Compass program, each girl joins with a group of around 16 students who meet regularly in a safe and welcoming environment to support each other through our holistic Mind-BodySpirit program, and who remain together through to Year 12.

MANAGING UPPER SCHOOL WORKLOADS

At Pymble, we encourage students to focus on their wellbeing, through sufficient sleep, exercise and healthy eating, and having a sensible amount of screen time. There is naturally an increase in the workload in Years 9 and 10, and we encourage any student experiencing challenges in managing this to seek help from their Compass Teacher or Head of Year or attend a Homework Help session.

Homework Help: sessions are supported by teaching staff and occur in the Conde Library three afternoons a week.

Presentations and Guest Speakers: A range of presenters and guest speakers visit throughout the year to promote good practices – such as Safe on Social (relating to e-safety) and Elevate Education (addressing study skills and time management).

Counselling: Counselling support is available to Years 9 and 10 students who are able to self-refer through the College student portal.
