Welcome

The arrival of the festive season often prompts moments of celebration and reflection. Here at QPAC, we are reflecting on the fact that in the 2018-19 year, we welcomed more than 1.5 million people and worked with artists and companies to create new experiences and new work. We celebrate with a summer program steeped in tradition as A Christmas Carol by shake & stir theatre co kicks off a roll call of Christmas favourites including the Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Messiah, Queensland Ballet’s The Nutcracker and the loopy but much-loved A Very Kransky Christmas. Our annual Spirit of Christmas concerts round out the festive season program, a cherished tradition since QPAC first opened its doors in 1985.

All this festive cheer is balanced perfectly with popular music offerings, from Grammy Award winning band America to tribute shows featuring the music of Queen and the Bee Gees. Back by popular demand is the acclaimed musical The Book of Mormon: a great opportunity whether you missed it earlier this year or want to enjoy again this fantastic production and its irreverent humour. In January, Circa brings a touch of quirkiness with Wolfgang’s Magical Musical Circus, followed by shake & stir returning with Roald Dahl’s classic Fantastic Mr Fox and audiences will be wowed by the world’s most famous magicians, Penn & Teller, on their first ever Australian tour. February promises a heady mix of classic and contemporary theatre, as well as music and dance, from American music legend Randy Newman, through to the loveable craziness of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Werq The World Tour. Some of Australia’s leading performance companies will deliver the outstanding experiences we’ve come to expect from them including Queensland Theatre’s Emerald City and The Australian Ballet’s The Happy Prince. I hope that you’ll find something in this diverse and thoughtful summer season that entices you to visit us at QPAC very soon.
