o you truly know what self-care is? For years, I don’t think I had the right idea. Only recently as I have grown in my own self approval and increased my own self-esteem have I come to know what it truly is. I think most people might be a little fuzzy on what self-care is and how to practice it. Medical, mental and alternative health practitioners pioneered the concept of self-care by recommending a healthy lifestyle and stress management. Unfortunately, this advice is often ignored because it requires some discipline and self- review (getting out of our comfort zone and the ever present ability to engage is denial.) The idea of self-care may seem a daunting task initially, but what I have found to make is easy is taking it one step at a time, a day by day gradual change in my life management. But first, let’s get familiar with what self-care is not. • Self-care is not selfishness. Selfishness is putting your interests above others, often to the demise of others or lacking regard for the rights and feelings of others. • Self-care is not self-pampering (and of course, there is nothing wrong with self-pampering like getting a massage, a pedicure or perhaps a new dress, as long as financial priorities are not compromised.) I know over the years I have engaged in buying a thing or two that perhaps if I have had the true definition of self-care in my heart I would have thought twice about. • Self-care is not self-indulgence. Self-indulgence is characterized by avoidance of day to day efforts and responsibility to our self and our family using
substitutions of quick and easy antidotes. We might think to our self that the stresses of the day have drained our energy and that relaxing on the couch with remote control in hand and a glass of wine or bag of chips is all the effort we can muster. Self-indulgence is dismissing the practice of the consistent efforts that true self-care requires, we settle for temporary and largely symbolic fixes - some of which actually stress our systems further. What self-care really means is choosing behaviors that balance the effects of emotional and physical stressors like exercising, eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, practicing yoga or meditations, abstaining from substance abuse, pursuing creative outlets, getting physical checkups and chiropractic adjustments, listening to uplifting music, spending time with lovers, friends and family (who have net positive effect on your well-being) or engaging in spiritual counseling. Also essential to self-care is learning to self-soothe or calm your physical and emotional distress. If this sounds a little overwhelming, take heart. Pick one thing a month that you can do to improve your self-care behaviors. Here are a few thoughts: 1. 2. 3. 4.
Take time to breathe and breathe deeply. Drink lots of pure clean water Smile whenever you can as it will lift your spirits. Put on your favorite music and open up your ears and heart. 5. Go for a stroll, a jog, or a run or a swim. 6. Get complete about one thing you have left undone and that is tugging at >> continued on page 6 5
continued from page 5 >> your
attention. 7. Speak with complete honesty (and love.) 8. Explore ways to really relax and become a master of relaxation. 9. Sit outdoors and tune into the natural world around you. 10. Turn off the television for a whole week. 11. Stop doing one thing that you know is not in your best interest. 12. Upgrade your language by catching your disempowering words. 13. Invite your creativity out to play – draw, paint, dance, sing, write, stitch… 14. Be willing to receive. 15. Develop a meditation practice. 16. Take steps to ensure you are getting good sleep. 17. Look for sources of inspiration like a beautiful sunset, talking with someone you admire, or reading poetry. 18. Practice forgiveness, both forgiveness towards yourself and others. 19. Clean out your kitchen pantry to make room for lots of whole, healthy foods. 20. Laugh out loud at every chance you get. Most importantly, know that you are worthy of self-care and that you have the time to do it. It will prolong your life and allow you to truly love yourself. Living a long life and having self-love allows us to serve and love others more completely.

CONSCIOUS PARENTING:
Parenting Vows Before (and After) Conceiving by Anna Krajec
E
veryone has heard of wedding vows and most find them to be a good idea. How about parenting vows? My hope and the primary reason for my recently released book “ABC of Conscious Parenting: Agreements Before (and after) Conceiving!, is that parenting vows become as commonly used as wedding vows. In order to be able to drive, you must pass a driving test. If it were up to me, there would be a law in place that made it mandatory for prospective parents to pass a parenting test before they are allowed to bring a child into the world. Since it is unlikely that such a law would ever be instituted, the next best thing that came to mind is a set of agreements that parents would discuss before conceiving a child. After answering the questions that are provided to facilitate discussion of the
agreements, the couple would then write out what they agreed to in the form of parenting vows. Below are three of the 108 agreements from my book, which was released on Amazon Kindle on June 1, 2012. AGREEMENT #97 Agree to discuss challenging issues away from children Parents should discuss difficult issues in a scheduled “talking time” setting away from children. If the discussion turns into an argument and especially if one or both parents becomes angry or hostile, stop the discussion and resume only when both partners are calm again. FACT: People cannot be objective and/or create positive results when they are emotionally upset. What are your thoughts on scheduling talking time away 8
from children and only having discussions when both parents are calm? Can you both agree to abide by these guidelines?

Parents should learn and incorporate compassionate communication into their communication style when speaking with anyone, but especially when speaking with one another and their children. Marshall Rosenberg has written several wonderful books on the subject: Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, and Raising Children Compassionately: Parenting the Nonviolent Communication Way. There are also resources online as well as workshops that are available for you to take. At a minimum, agree to never argue violently in front of your child. Be firm about this. Verbal abuse is still abuse. FACT: Children suffer and become distressed when their parents argue, even during pregnancy. They also pick up unspoken repressed emotions, thus the importance of using compassionate communication. What are your thoughts about learning compassionate communication skills? Are you willing to invest time in learning those skills to help facilitate a harmonious future for you and your family? Are you willing to implement what you’ve learned?

AGREEMENT #104 Always talk positively about the other parent with your child Agree never to put your child in a position where he/she must choose one parent over the other. Never talk negatively to your child about the other parent or someone the child loves, unless the child needs to know something that will prevent them from being harmed in some way. Should your partnership/marriage fail for some reason, be sure that you avoid bad mouthing the other parent in front of your children, no matter what! Always find compassionate ways to discuss the other
or all the sophistication of the Western Culture, it is amazing how little education we receive on parenting. Schools don’t address the subject enough, and while there are some great books on the topic of parenting, very few deal with advanced planning. After our son, Christofer, was born, many issues turned into major challenges that caused stress on our marriage simply because it hadn’t occurred to me and my husband, Eddie, to discuss in detail our child-rearing philosophies and come to some agreements >> continued on page 10 9

conceiving a child. This book on conscious parenting details 108 agreements that couples should consider before having a child. The agreements in the book will help you to become aware of and make decisions in advance regarding many aspects of having and raising a family. I invite you to take inventory of what is important to the two of you. Preferably, you will do this before conceiving, but there is also value in this process if you do it while your child is in the womb and even after birth. Once you have spent some alone time thinking
and hopefully journaling about each subject, share and discuss the agreements with your partner. It is vitally important that you find out in advance any potential dealbreakers. No matter what your particular circumstances, my hope is you will achieve greater joy, peace, and harmony in your parenting journey by sharing your views about parenting with your partner before challenges occur. By being on the same page, challenges can be dealt with in the most effective and peaceful manner. Certainly, my wish for you is that you have the most positive experience possible.

CHIROPRACTIC
949-380-8883
16 years of service to the community Temple of Light (TOL): Why did you become a health professional? Dr. Kowalik (DK): At very young age I realized how important it is to have good health. My first memory, at the age of 3, was the night my Dad did not come home because he was in the hospital recovering from open heart surgery. When my Mom put me to bed that night she said, “You’re the man of the house”. In this moment I realized this was serious. My parents began to make better dietary choices, such as Cheerio’s instead of Lucky Charms, minimize fatty foods, and we usually saw soda and chips in the house only when we were going to have a party. My Mom made sure to teach me from her mistakes, as I witnessed her battle her weight and she smoked until 2001. Over the years I witnessed my parents and grandparents fight their health issues (heart disease, cancer, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s), including my grandma having 23 surgeries during her life. From my family’s experiences I developed the perspective that I need to exercise and eat healthy foods. I learned that the quality of our health depends more on how we care for that which we inherit (our genes) than what we inherit in itself. TOL: Why did you choose to be a Doctor of Chiropractic specifically? DK: As for many people, I saw Chiropractors as pain doctors, and I had heard some refer to them as “quacks”. So I had never thought that it would be a profession that I would be interested in. I took a career class in college and one of the tests compared your interests and personality with professionals that were happy in their careers. My score for that test was 59/60 for the field of Chiropractic. At first I dismissed it, but then I learned more about the profession and it intrigued me because it was consistent with healthy lifestyles. I took an anatomy class at Cal Poly Pomona where my instructor asked why I was taking his class. I explained that I was interested PAID ADVERTISEMENT
in health and Chiropractic. The professor, with great enthusiasm, explained to me, using some anatomy charts, that if I become a Chiropractor, and when I adjust someone it will do much more than relieve pain. He showed me that the nerves that exit between the vertebras allow signals from the brain to travel to the organs, muscles, and glands, besides the sensory/pain messages. Chiropractic care allows the brain and the body to communicate, to function without interference, and to allow it to heal itself. This new information made sense! It seemed too logical for me to not have been told about this sooner in my life. Then it hit me! Being that our nervous system is our master system (it controls all functions of the rest of the body), then maintaining a healthy spine it vital for good health, just like good nutrition and exercise. At this moment I knew that Chiropractic was the profession for me. TOL: After being in Chiropractic for 16 years, has it been what you thought it would be? DK: It has been better than I thought it would be. When Chiropractic was explained to me by my professor, it was great to be able to understand it logically. However, it has been amazing to see the effects of Chiropractic that have allowed “Ordinary Miracles” to happen. If you have not heard the beautiful song “Ordinary Miracles”, by Sarah McLachlan, I recommend that you do. The lyrics are about the innate wisdom of the universe. “The sky knows when it’s time to snow Don’t need to teach a seed to grow It’s just another Ordinary miracle today” Just like we don’t need to teach a seed to grow, we don’t need to teach our bodies to regulate our temperature, to digest food, to breathe, heal a cut, to fight an infection, etc. As we all know, our body has an energy/life-force that controls all functions of every single cell of our body, including our body’s ability to heal itself. In Chiropractic it is commonly known as innate intelligence. It is referred to as Chi by the Chinese. It is referred to as Spirit by the Native
Americans. Some refer to it as the wisdom within. In religion, it is referred to as the Godgiven life or the Holy Spirit. No matter what term we use, or what beliefs we have, we know that without it, there would be no life. For each of us, the moment chi is gone, in the physical sense we are dead. The Chiropractic adjustment (moving a bone to take pressure off a nerve) removes that which interferes with the flow of this innate intelligence. This is why a countless number of people in our office and around the world, through Chiropractic, experience “Ordinary Miracles”. They are “Ordinary” because in reality it is simply allowing your body to work as it was designed to. “Miracles” are usually recognized when something goes horribly wrong with someone’s health followed by the problem being resolved. I let our patients know that I am not the healer, I am God’s assistant. I remove that which interferes with the flow of your innate intelligence (or energy) and God does the healing. We have to give credit to the source! TOL: Would you share some of the “Ordinary Miracles” you have seen? DK: Besides helping people resolve the cause of the commonly Chiropractic associated conditions (such as back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, migraines, carpal tunnel syndrome, elbow pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, and ankle pain), through Chiropractic adjustments, we’ve seen people’s bodies heal from chronic childhood ear infections, colic, bed wetting, dizziness/vertigo, chronic illness, vision problems, sinus issues, heart palpitations, heartburn/acid reflux, menstrual cramping/reproductive system issues, and many others. Now remember – Chiropractic does not heal anything – The power that made your body, heals your body! It is that light/energy/ innate intelligence/etc. that is already in you that is allowed to flow and heal you.If a health issue is being caused by pressure on a nerve, then removing that pressure off the nerve with adjustments is needed for your body to resolve that health issue. TOL: How does someone know it they have pressure on a nerve? DK: Much like a cavity, cancer, or heart disease you may not notice symptoms until late stages. For this reason, an examination by a Chiropractor is needed to determine if you have nervous system interference (pressure on a nerve). Like the other conditions, it is best to catch it early, and even better take preventive actions. For more of Dr. Kowalik’s interview join us for the September/October issue of Radiance.

Moving Beyond Abuse - A Planetary Paradigm Shift
A
By Judy Dragon
t 19, I began my conscious spiritual awakening. It has been a long journey of discovery in understanding all the levels of what it means to be ‘real’ in the world, with myself, my friends, family and clients. I worked for 27 years delving deep into my psyche to clear out the Darkness that seemed void of any Light, that kept me struggling to find a way out of denial, repression, depression, and fragmentation. To do that, I needed to go against the grains of my family’s values and structure as well as community’s perceptions and opinions of life and Spirituality to stand squarely in my own truth. This truth was connected somatically to each cell in my body, buried in my mind, but shone through to me by what I call All-That-Is (Creator). I can now claim that my healing has been the most spiritual path back to my real self upon which I could ever embark. What is real is that I got to know me. What I found at the end of the tunnel was someone whom I love very much. It was a surprising accomplishment from what my real beginnings had been based. It took integrity to
myself first, perseverance, trust in the process, a depth of strength I didn’t know I had, courage that astounded me along the way and releasing others from their obligation to teach me about myself in ways that no one should experience. I knew that I would find my way through with this Energy that I intuitively felt was part of me. In many spiritual ideologies, the body is seen as an illusion, unreal, something separate from and of a lower ‘frequency’ than other aspects of spirituality. This also appears in the understanding of the mind as it not being applicable to true spirituality. “It’s all beyond that. Just get rid of your chattering ego. It runs the show.” Disposable aspects of the being are not seen for the deeper awareness of what composes our life in this realm. I felt frustrated with platitudes from spiritual teachers who were not being present with the truth of a situation, who covered up what was really going on to ‘sound’ spiritual, and not walking their talk. I heard the denial from my family in how a person was required to act or behave when the protection of the child was less important than looking good 12
for the community. I got tired of hearing people so righteously espousing, “Get over it. The past is over. You just need to focus on moving forward.” Or “Just meditate to let go.” All I saw were people carrying loaded backpacks of their past on their shoulders, smiles plastered on their frozen faces with watery eyes, tongues tied and hands clenched with a head held high in aspiring for God and truth. Was that being real? Being an energy/bodyworker for many years reveals a great deal about the pattern of holding and what it means in the body. In the last few years, I was grateful when I finally learned the term, coined by psychologist John Welwood in 1984, called ‘Spiritual By-passing’--a way to use spiritual practices and beliefs to avoid unresolved wounds, painful feelings and our needs that have been developmentally truncated or arrested. One of the biggest areas of deep spiritual wounding comes from the patterns of childhood abuse—specifically physical and sexual. This is real. We live in a paradigm of such in-depth trauma. There are 1.7 million reports of child abuse each year in the U.S. (and how many unreported cases?). One in three females and one in five males under 18 have experienced sexual abuse besides the trauma from wars, torture, and more. This is worldwide. Sexual and physical abuse affect every area of our lives whether it happened to us or another. Look at prison and mental institutions sheltering it. Look at religious institutions who perpetrate it. Look at economies run by it. Look at worldwide governments’ policies that mastermind it. From desensitization through flashing images of mayhem on the TV to forced child slavery and prostitution in Uganda, we are exposed to abuse over and over. Those who witness abuse as children are also affected as if the trauma has happened to them. We live in different levels of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and its secondary effects. Trauma and abuse can have their origin from other lifetimes that are stored in the body. However, trauma that is suppressed or repressed in this lifetime gets confused with being a ‘past life’ experience quite often. It’s a way to by-pass the feelings, the reality of what we had to take on or let go in order to create some semblance of sanity, survival, grounding and presence. The secrets that are kept interfamilial, intercultural and intergovernmental are both appalling and >> continued on page 14
In many spiritual ideologies, the body is seen as an illusion, unureal, something separate from and of a lower ‘frequency’ than other aspects of spirituality. 13
A person won’t bring repressed memories to the conscious mind by just sitting in a cognizant state while ‘trying’ to remember. These memories are processed in different parts of the brain—the amagdyla and hippocampus, which are part of the limbic system. They’re often dreamlike, hazy and dissociative in quality, coming forth from the fluid perceptions of the subconscious mind. If memories are to surface, they are pieced together through these clues from past patterning, dreams, images, synchronicities and the body. There are researchers, doctors, therapists and healing practitioners who feel that traumatic memories of past incidences of abuse are insignificant in helping a person be present and should just be by-passed. This is similar to what we might often hear in a dysfunction family, “Get on with your life!” I disagree. Avoidance is not a good way to heal. Practitioners as well as clients are afraid to go deep. They are afraid of revealing the truth of the matter due to shame, guilt, terror, vulnerability and sometimes, fear of one’s life. Some feel that remembering past abuse incidences will put the person in trauma again. This could happen if not properly facilitated. Then there are those who feel that memories should be eliminated chemically. In fact, there are pills and brainwashing techniques to do this. There are a few who feel that every traumatic memory we’ve ever had has to be processed. This perception will keep a client having a life of stress with little hope for creating something better. I think it depends on how the process of remembering and healing is facilitated that affects the client in the highest and best way. I am a proponent of remembering what the Spirit/Soul feels it’s to release. There is an incredible synchronicity of events that will guide the client to remember. I feel that there is a timing of one’s process when the information will surface in its proper divine order and sequence. Healing from deep-seated abuse is a Spiritual/God Process meaning that one’s willingness with Creator leads the way. This is the real letting go… trusting that you will be guided in regaining consciousness of your true life’s history. Suppressed and repressed memories often surface when some event occurs to “awaken” the person. It could be when a client’s biological child becomes a certain age that triggers the client’s remembering of being at that age when abused. It
awakening. When one is open to real truth, it doesn’t always look pretty, but it’s a way to awaken from that un/sub-conscious state which runs 88% of our beliefs and programs. This is what we see in the world…the effects of these projections, patterns of trauma and its coping mechanisms. This needs to be brought to the surface: the conscious level (12%), for acknowledgment, healing and complete release. And it must be felt. It is the beauty of humanity that we have been given emotions to play with and control, but repression, suppression, denial or avoidance aren’t the best ways to work with our feelings. We must learn to honor all of them, to love every shadow aspect of ourselves into acceptance and wholeness. I realize there are many schools of thought about this process of acknowledging abuse and its healing. Remembering, though, is pivotal in healing abuse. How our minds protect us from harm is quite amazing. It functions to keep anything we have found unacceptable or unpleasant in an unconscious form as an attempt to protect us from anxiety, panic, and further trauma. However, these repressive defenses can get “leaky” as the mind builds and stores experiences. Eventually, they break into our consciousness in some form. continued from page 13 >>

could be the death of a family member who had hurt the adult as a child. There could be a car accident that jolts a part of the mind to start remembering. It could be bottoming out from drug use, a near-death experience, money issues or lower back problems. The Soul supports the psyche to remember so it can heal. The Ego, though, can easily sabotage or block the remembering to continue the illusion of a false reality which appears to feel safe. Can you imagine what happens to the body in repressing trauma? Can you imagine a pressure cooker of energy? Are you aware that many of the immune suppression diseases can be linked to childhood abuse? Children who are abused early are flooded with stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, impacting on how the brain develops and affects the stress regulation system. In being flooded with fight-or-flight hormones, fear is maintained and can become pathological. If the trauma is persistent, dissociative disorders can be created with other personality disorders and illnesses. Research shows adults with histories of
Some feel that remembering past abuse incidences will put the person in trauma again. Healing from deep-seated abuse is a Spiritual/God Process meaning that one’s willingness with Creator leads the way. This is the real letting go… continued from page 15 >> or promiscuity; chronic head,
of existence that needs to be acknowledged, something to keep in our awareness because if the enigma and labeling of these abuses stop going into the sub-conscious group mind as non-existent and delusional, then they can actually be recognized and healed. There are millions of children who have been abused in this way. Think about many of the Hollywood stars and their erratic behavior to ‘strange’ serial killers, and you’ll understand of how big it is. Besides memory retrieval, the most important issues for the therapist or healing practitioner to work with the client is safety issues—helping the abused person create a safe place in the inner world for all parts who were abused… for their Inner child/ren to remember and have their feelings held in a sacred space; to acknowledge and eventually love these dissociated aspects; to learn to accept one’s own truth and be able to express (when appropriate and using discernment) this in healthy ways; being able to ground in the body; making friends with the body; understanding of personal boundaries and creating them in healthy, functional ways; recognizing and changing patterns of being bonded to the perpetrator (sometimes referred to as Stockholm syndrome); bringing soul fragments back to the body that dissociate out (soul retrievals); eliminating cords attached to the perpetrators or those who protected them; removing entities that come into the body during abuse; and issues about our connection to God/Creator-of-All. Approximately 90% of our beliefs and patterning are about our relationship with the Energy-of-All-Creation, an Intelligence of Unification also called God/Creator. When an adult is abused as a child, the issues around God become highly charged. In general, since there is a higher correlation in a child knowing the abusing person, whether it be the child’s parents, relatives, friends of the family, clergy, or >> continued on page 18
face or pelvic pain; musculoskeletal complaints; gastrointestinal distress or symptoms; asthma or other respiratory ailments; weight and self-image issues; pseudo-neurologic symptoms (dizziness, etc.). Keep in mind that if clients come in with scarcity or financial issues, abundance flows best when the first and second chakras are open. This means that if a person has been sexually abused or the body or energy registers that way in those chakras, sabotaging programs will need to be cleared so the abundance can once again come into balance. There can also be a pattern of unveiling of memories or past traumatic history. Once some of the patterns of general emotional or physical abuse are processed, sexual abuse can surface because the person feels safe enough to deal with it. I’ve heard from many clients, “I’ve worked on my issues for years and now this shows up?!” I tell them that all the work they’ve done up to this point has given them the strength and awareness to deal with this next level. As physical and/or sexual abuse is processed, ritual abuse, alien abductions or Government/ military mind control could be revealed as well. It’s like the ‘peeling of the onion skin.’ This unveiling does NOT happen all the time. And yes… I’m publically saying that all of these strange types of abuse exist. I’ve worked in this field for 25 years and can say that I’ve heard or seen about every possible form of abuse that people can imagine in the harming of another. I’ve talked with former CIA agents who have gone the spiritual path to expose, “Why everyone knows about those little mind-controlled children?” I’ve spoken with government officials who have no qualms in telling me what is covertly going on. It’s not a bunch of conspiracy theories. It’s just a reality on this realm 16

is towards oneself. The ways people have acted towards themselves, repeating patterns of self abuse or sabotaging, are essential to recognize and clear. Learning to release toxic shame and self hatred, and regaining self-respect and self-acceptance is an enormous act of release and self-love, of reclaiming one’s power. The healing journey, beyond working with the memories and their patterns, needs a dedication by not only the practitioner or therapist, but also by the person healing. Many empowering techniques are available to allow unconscious information to flow and regain stability and grounding: non-dominant hand writing; journal writing, drawing, collages, body/ energy work, dancing, singing, ThetaHealing, EMDR and much more. We are at a crossroads in waking-up on many levels. What has been covert, swept under the carpet for years, is being exposed. As we learn to get real with ourselves, staying open to know reality on its terms, recognizing and honoring all our feelings, and changing and forgiving the ways we acted out, we will become responsible for our perceptions and create a paradigm shift to move us out of and beyond abuse. This is the crux of real healing. Once we integrate compassion and self-love, we can then know the deep love for and with Creator-of All in ITs continuous wisdom and love for us.
continued from page 16 >> teachers, many beliefs come
to the forefront about God or Creator as the authority figure who is supposed to protectand be there when needed. This role or identification of God/Creator in this way can place the child in an extremely helpless and hopeless position when abused. As a child becomes an adult, the unconscious beliefs permeate the client’s relationship in maintaining a paradigm of separation from God/Creator/All-ThatIs. The client, from that child perspective, often questions: “If God loves me, why would God let this happen to me?” “How can I trust a God who doesn’t care what happens to me?” “Why would I want to be part of a God who would let children be so badly hurt?” In spiritually-based healing practices, reminding the person that the Creator’s energy has always been a part of them the whole time, that they are a composed of this energy, and that is why they are alive and healing, is essential. We are helping people to finally verbalize what has been displaced and held in for years, allowing the anger, rage and grief to surface. These are sacred milestone times. Another important milestone is the process of forgiveness - to oneself first or others when the timing is right. It’s a word that is highly charged and misunderstood. It has often been associated with the need to minimize or forget what happened, or giving away of one’s truth or power to allow others off the hook or to placate those associated with the abuse. This is furthest from the Truth. I have psychically and energetically seen what has happened when complete forgiveness happens, and it’s the most amazing experience of protection and empowerment possible. Yet it cannot be pushed. It’s organic. The most important type of forgiveness

New Chapter of The Holistic Chamber of Commerce in Orange County The Holistic Chamber of Commerce (HCC), a national trade organization supporting and promoting holistic and ecofriendly professionals and practitioners, is launching a new chapter in Orange County. Jan Edwards, of One Source Wellness, and Christina Leo of Negative Ion Clothing, will lead the Orange County group with monthly meetings designed to provide a forum for networking and the sharing of businessbuilding solutions. Their Grand Opening meeting is planned for Wednesday, July 11th, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Total Wine in the Tustin Market Place. It will be free to attend, with cake to celebrate. Founder and Executive Director Camille Leon shares that “holistic health and wellness choices have long been under the radar, and are now being recognized as strong alternatives to health care as usual. By coming together as professionals, holistic practitioners are finding better ways to help each other as well as their clients and customers. By having a resource for finding respected and trustworthy holistic
resources, everyone can stay healthier all the time.” Leon explains that holistic wellness aims to create safe, natural, long-lasting health and well-being, free of the many side effects commonly experienced with conventional allopathic medicine. In recognizing the inter-connectedness of the many elements impacting our health, they represent a variety of professionals from acupuncturists and hypnotherapists to accountants (and even a few attorneys)! Along with the Orange County chapter, and four other chapters in California, there are now twelve chapters in six states. Additionally, the organization currently represents and promotes over 450 reference-checked Professional Members in 23 states. arthquake kills 23,000 people. Twister splinters an entire town. Fires blaze through thousands of acres of forest. Flash flood drowns a community. Record heat wave leaves crops barren. This is the world we live in. Every day there is threat of some devastation that slices through the illusion of certainty we have grown so accustomed to, reminding us how fragile life is. And with this dawning of fragility comes a surge within me to sit and breathe in the depth of life I witness every moment of every day trembling inside my heart. A hurricane of fear, a tsunami of grief, a volcanic eruption of passion for a life that I must let go of, and detach from while simultaneously living it with all my might. The inclination to hold on tightly to what inevitably slips right through my fingers strikes a lightning bolt through the center of my humanity, a thunderous roar echoing deep in the chambers of my love born from both sides of light and dark. Accept loss forever, says Jack Kerouac. A halting screech of resistance screams inside of me. And yet, it’s true. Loss is inevitable. To be human is to experience loss. There is a deep calling to accept this. To live full and fearless, I must accept this. There is an invitation to cultivate a depth of being that breathes 20
awareness into every given moment. To be authentic, to love strong, to live a life that has some level of impact and purpose, to be inspired, to live courageously, to make the ordinary, extraordinary. What happens “over there” is not “over there” anymore. It ripples out and affects us all. It’s not, “Oh my God, did you hear what happened in Japan?” It’s, “Oh my God, look what is happening to us” — as a species, as a whole, as one connected to another and to everything. There is no separation. The woman who lost her son to the recklessness of war is me. The man who lost his family in the flood is me. The earthquake that killed 23,000 people is ME — my community, my humanity, my family. It is not THEM anymore, and it never was. What is happening is happening to all of us. The poverty, the disease, the natural disasters wiping out thousands, all are personal to me. It is my self, my child, my lover, my sister, my best friend. It is the pulse of the main vein in a body that leads to the heart of everything. And it is alive in me. Demanding me to wake up and breathe like it’s the last breath, dance as though it’s the last song, make love like the earth is splitting open to swallow everything we know to be true. Last month I was caregiving on a hospice team. As an 80-year-old man was breathing his last breath, I

I leaned in close, whispered in his ear, “You can let go. You are safe, you are loved and you are free.” Within minutes, his eyes popped open, he looked at me, took one long deep inhalation and as one single tear rolled down his weathered face, closed his eyes, and left the body that had been his companion for 80 years. When I came home, I received a call from a friend of mine. He was mesmerized by my story and asked me, “Leslie, did you see angels around him? Did you feel them? What did they look like?” My answer to him was, “Maybe it’s not about seeing angels, feeling them or sensing them. Maybe, it’s about BEING the angel and knowing there is no separation between me and this man who so bravely took his last breath in front of me. And maybe also not between me and the angels that were there to guide him safely home.” With life so tenuous, so fragile, so fleeting, the invitation is to become an angel in human form and somehow, amidst it all, ease this very human journey with waterfalls of love. And by accepting loss forever.

G
inger Lee, the founder of Ginger’s Garden, was born in Korea. Her birth mother did not survive Ginger’s birth and a wonderful woman who was the village mid-wife adopted the child and named her Eun Sil Lee Ming (Angel of Silver Threaded Light). As a result, Ginger witnessed many miracles of healing while growing up. However, when she became as a young teen, her mother felt she would have more opportunity in the United States. An American woman adopted Ginger and named her Susan Lee Kent. Ginger eventually changed her name to Ginger Lee, representing Goddess of Love. Initially, Ginger was a practitioner at the center doing breath work, workshops, classes, clinical guided imagery and Korean hand therapy. She also taught sacred fan dance and provided hairstyling services. In July 2009, she acquired the space and changed its name. On May 31, 2012, Ginger left this earth plane to continue her healing work in another dimension. Now her children, Kazi Hirama and Heather Lee, and her life partner, Jim Poissant, have set the intention to grow the center in her name. Kazi is the Manager and Total Vibe personal trainer who also provides energy work. Heather Lee is a massage therapist, Kundalini yoga instructor and also provides energy work. Jim Poissant is the Operations Director, Marketing co-creator, Sound Practitioner and an energy worker. Ginger used to say that the center is a “one stop shop.” She believed in integrating spirituality and holistic health and making the center a central hub for practitioners worldwide. Her dream continues as the center offers unique events and co-creations that bring together different communities and practitioners to network. The center offers monthly seminars, an all-day yoga festival, union of the bands, all night gong baths, specialized and customized fitness programs, Kundalini yoga and holistic/meditative retreats to assist in the development of spiritual growth and expanded awareness for beginners and advanced practitioners with hands-on guidance and direction. Ginger’s Garden is more than a holistic health center. 24
Their mission statement, “Nurture wellness of body, mind, spirit and soul with the heart-centered opening of conscious awareness leading to the empowerment of one’s Authentic Self,” emphasizes that the Garden is a place of solidarity and unity consciousness that helps to raise the vibration of our planet so we can collectively shift into a more harmonious existence for all and live life passionately. T h e center is a place that holds sacred energy and assists in cultivating s p i r i t u a l i t y. It is unique, comfortable, welcoming and heartwarming. The friendly staff creates a nurturing, accepting and understanding experience. People who attend the Center feel an experience of Oneness with Self and others, a higher vibration and frequency. They feel stimulated to learn, grow, be nurtured and say they want to move in and not leave! This is because they are more than a group of practitioners; they are a community reaching out to a wider community. The staff offers solidarity between practitioners, other centers and metaphysical stores who appreciate each other’s gifts without competition. A quote from Ginger Lee, “Honoring the true artist in myself helps me to see the divine beauty in you. YOU are a living canvas. To me, your hair is a live fabric that expresses the true tapestry you have within and radiates throughout. Beauty is the true expression of the Divine. As the artist of your living canvas, your creativity is limitless and the freedom is yours to hold and own.” Services offered at Ginger’s Garden include: massage therapy, B.E.S.T., chiropractic, quick pulse, voice re--patterning, re-connective healing, master level hypnotherapy, NLP, quantum healing such as, reiki, avesa, sound therapy, toning, voice sound therapy, deeksha oneness blessings, world divine light, infrared sauna, total vibe machine, meditation, holistic salon services, essential oils, Korean Hand Therapy, ear candling, Kundalini yoga, chiropractic, personal fitness trainers, physical therapy, rehabilitation, detox, foot reflexology, spiritual counseling, life coach, ecstatic dance, drumming, shaman healing and practices, Tibetan medicine, Ayurveda, empowering workshops, spiritual awareness, unconditional LOVE.

Book Reviews provided by Travis Turchi
My name is Travis Turchi. I am a 41 year old male who “woke up” in early 2011 (finally!) I never liked to read books in high school or college. Even reading for pleasure was a chore to me. About 10 years ago, everything changed. I became a veracious reader of science fiction and fantasy books. I began to pick up not only single books but book series! I read the entire Left Behind Series (12 books) along with a wide variety of Fantasy and SciFi books including Enders Game and the popular HBO Series A Game of Thrones (which by the way in my humble opinion, is the BEST Fantasy Series I have read to date!). My reading tastes changed last year when I discovered the world wasn’t quite what it seemed. I began reading esoteric and occult books looking into our history, origins, and spirituality. This is my attempt to offer book reviews on a range of subjects aimed to “enlighten.” I always liked book reviews that had a type of rating system so I could quickly identify how a book stacked up against another book. Instead of a typical star system, I will be using a Merkaba System.
F
or those who question or are skeptical about things that exist outside of our third dimensional reality, or for those who simply like to have scientific back up for some paranormal events, this book is for you. This took takes a scientific look at Hypnosis, communicating with plants, the importance throughout history of the third eye (the pineal gland), the various prophesies of the world, the concept of time, the golden age, and a host of others. I came out of this book have more respect for the plants knowing they can communicate if we are “sensitive” and “intuitive” enough to understand them. A few of the stories actually got me teary-eyed because they so touched my heart. I came away have so much respect for the suppressed science of Russian sciences. The awesome studies they performed even creating their own pyramids and witnessing the awesome healing effects of this ancient technology. It makes you think about how bumblebee’s actually fly (hint: might have something in common with a UFO in flight) and how fish can actually swim up waterfalls. It really is amazing to witness the wonder of nature in all in beautiful majesty. David does a wonderful job connecting these seemingly separate ideas and relates to this Source Field. Some scientists call it the Unified Field. It’s a wonderful 26
dot- connecting book relating to how the universe works. There could be difficult concepts to understand but David does a great job of keeping it within the realms of comprehension and always interesting. This is a book you want to take with you on a camping trip and read by the fire of a log cabin. It’s a book that truly inspires. I couldn’t wait to pick it up again and read it. If you happen to peruse the amazon reviews, take note this book has plenty of reviews many five star reviews. It averages a very high 4.5 starts on Amazon. The book even includes experiments into DNA and it’s nature showing creation creates out of nothing. It’s a natural component of life itself. There is enough science in this book to make a believer out of a non-believer. The greatest gift for me was knowing “The Source is with us…. always.”

WHERE HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION
SKILLS GONE? By Basia Christ
No one would question the fact that our planet is experiencing difficult times. Wars. Natural disasters. Violence. Racism. Governments collapsing. Budgets slashed. Unemployment is on the rise. People have to live with less money and resources. because they think you are ignoring their emails or texts because you were busy having dinner with your family? How many times has your family been upset because in the middle of a conversation, you get a text and stop to answer, signaling your family member the text is more important? How many times have you and your friends gotten into an argument because the tone of an email was mistakenly interpreted (you thought you were being funny; the other person thought you were “slamming” them because you typed in capital letters)? We have become a race of people who do not “speak to each other, much less give someone the courtesy of listening to them without interrupting.” Technology has given us a reason not to read body language or someone’s tone. It has given us “permission” to lose our basic >> continued on page 28
When we make a telephone call to a business, instead of getting a “live” person, a non-human voice bombards us with a variety of options: Choose 1 for English, et al. Stress is at a high level. There is not enough time to do all the chores we plan for ourselves. Tempers are short. People have replaced common courtesy with an entitlement mindset: “I’m more important than you.” “My needs should come first.” “I’m not standing in line, I want service NOW!” Instead of picking up a telephone and calling, people “text” and they expect us to have our phones tied to our bodies so we can immediately interrupt what we are doing in order to send a reply within seconds. How many times have your calls been lost while choosing an option from the Never-ending listing of choices? How many times have your friends been upset 27

We have sacrificed them for “speed of transmission” – 3G, 4G. What is next, 10G? In the future, will we have a thought and our telephone or computer will immediately pick up the thought energy and somehow translate it into a formula of “0s” and “1s” without letting us review the message? Technology also adds “noise” to what we are thinking. We are constantly bombarded by the media – billboards, radio, television, magazines and newspapers, Internet news, blogs and texts, emails, and faxes. How can we maintain our sanity? our time. I suffer from “monkey brain” most of the time. My inner voice has a difficult time competing with voices yelling from the radio, television, YouTube, and the constant noise of my telephone receiving emails, voice messages, and calls. When I ask for guidance from my inner self, I am sure it is trying to reach me; however, probably gets a voice message saying that my “mailbox is full” or “leave a message and I’ll get back to you.” People, we are in a crisis! How can we ever expect to achieve peace when we do not even allow ourselves peace of mind? During these difficult times, we must improve our interpersonal and personal communication in order to help our planet heal. Before attempting to heal the world, we must heal our inner spirit before we can attempt to heal the spirit of humanity. It is only through speaking with – and listening to – our inner selves that we can achieve positive change and spiritual growth – and achieve peace of mind for ourselves. If you want to reverse some of the aforementioned trends, following are suggestions on how to slow down, speak and listen to our inner voice, and have a real conversation with others. Self-Investigation & Self-Inquiry Think of a recent conflict. What happened to trigger the
event? Was it something you read in a newspaper or heard on the radio that was “the last straw?” Were you angry because a friend was late for lunch - again? When you came home, did you take it out on a family member who was not aware you were angry – or why? Do you remember the first time you succumbed to that “trigger” Was it something a parent or childhood friend said or did that caused the defense mechanism to be born? Maybe a friend was always late and you missed your playtime? Maybe a parent would not allow you speak your mind or that your opinion was not important? Start with identifying what childhood defense mechanism caused the “trigger” that someone unknowingly says or does. Using self-investigation and self-inquiry, you can identify the unconscious reasons that as a child served you well. You must be willing to investigate negative emotions that keep you using these mechanisms instead of using healthier, more mature patterns of response. A. Schema Therapy A therapy called Schema Therapy, derived from the more traditional Cognitive Psychology, suggests our thoughts, or Schemas formed in childhood, trigger our emotional make-up. Schemas are feelings-based reactions to disturbing or traumatic events. As adults, you use these same schemas to react to present-day situations similar to what you experienced in the past. Schemas are memory-based feelings of distorted truths formed when you were young, dictated by any painful circumstance that caused you to feel “wrong,” “powerless” or “inadequate.” Because you formed them when you were young, they are extremely primal and strong in your psyche. When you experience something that triggers strong emotions, schemas immediately react with strong emotions that are stored in your childhood memory of what is “right” or “wrong” in the situation that mirrors your past. Schema Therapy works as a healing therapy that allows you to investigate your true feelings that arise from external triggers. This process will help you remember and then reframe past events so you can look at them through adult eyes and gain a new perspective. However, when an event triggers negative feelings about yourself, you usually do not have time to stop and investigate – unless you practice being in the moment. as holding onto to them results in “spiritual stagnation.” Once you discover which defense mechanisms are causing problems in your adult life, use self-compassion and take time to work through these feelings. C. Non-violent Communication (NVC) NVC is popular because it applies to a variety of situations. Its central theme is that everyone’s emotional needs matter equally. Its goal is to identify core needs and a strategy to get your and other participants’ needs met. It works by peeling the “layers” of each person’s psyche to get to the core reasons for disagreements and deciding on a strategy on which all parties agree. NVC can help you learn how to express yourself emotionally and formulate requests that focus on conflict resolution while communicating. Communicating in this matter allows you to retain “personal power” and take the risk of becoming vulnerable while acknowledging your needs. Knowing you will be “heard” rather than you will “have to compromise” is a stronger incentive to reach a consensus. NVC helps you isolate your needs, focus on your feelings, and not judge the conflict in terms of who is “right” or “how unfair” someone is. A new paradigm requires practice. In NVC workshops, people form practice groups and use role-playing. When you ask yourself how you feel while in conflict, you can begin to see how the feelings point to the underlying needs. For example, if your partner is upset because you will not commit to a travel plan, ask, “Are you frustrated because you need to schedule your vacation at work?” or “Are you upset because you want to buy your ticket now?” Asking in this way can help to diffuse a situation. Traditional psychological approaches also offer another way to reduce conflict that encourage you to use “I Statements” versus “You Statements,” which focus on faulting the behavior, and not the perpetrator of that behavior. For example, “I feel annoyed because I need support” rather than “I feel annoyed because you didn’t do the dishes.” The goal is to avoid emotional intensity and take responsibility
emotion. Instead of a “knee jerk” reaction to a situation, put things in perspective and realize you need to identify what is really going on in your mind. B. Congruent Communication If there are more than two people in conflict, the above method can help participants communicate with each member on a truly authentic level. Using this style of communication, the group creates a “safe” space where members who are having the conflict can engage in a “free expression of feelings” without repercussion. Ideally, a facilitator allots equal time in which each member “speaks their mind” without the other interrupting. As triggers of past traumas surface, the facilitator asks questions about their feelings from those times and how they might relate to the present. In this way, the goal is for participants to break through their defense mechanisms under the open invitation of others. The main difficulty with this therapy is that people under stress may not be able to create a perfect atmosphere because they may feel “vulnerable” to the group. With the first two methods, the challenge is to identify which coping mechanisms no longer serve you continued from page 29 >>

for your emotions by connecting them to your needs, which changes the picture considerably.
to be done soon or immediately, and stated positively. It should focus on what you DO want rather than what you do not want. For example, rather than asking a person to promise not to be late again, you can ask, “Are you willing to meet at the agreedupon time for the next appointment?” Asking this way gives the other person a chance to do better, if he agrees. In addition, it may allow him to feel less at fault for having chronically been late. If the answer is not in the affirmative, then it will require further dialogue, leading to some type of connection request. We all have unique backgrounds and environmental influences, yet we have more in common to help us communicate with each other. Although stresses in our lives tend to >> continued on page 32
Light is a “tool of consciousness” that identifies a solution that is best for both of you, not just one of you.
D. Compassionate Listening L e a r n i n g how to listen is a necessary component for improving communication. Most times, instead of truly listening, we are busy thinking about our response. Putting our agenda on the “back burner” during conflict so we listen to the other person is not natural for most people, but you can learn it. Based on a spiritual platform, Gene Hoffman, a Quaker activist, founded “Compassionate Listening,” for reconciliation by withholding judgment and replacing it with compassion for others, no matter how different they are. The premise lies in “walking in their shoes” and seeing things from their perspective. By shifting your thinking, you can relate to others on a human level – without cultural differences, thereby making resolution more possible. NVC strives to practice empathy by guessing the other’s feelings and needs, striving to understand. By removing your agenda and understanding another’s emotional concerns remarkable shifts in energy can occur. It allows you to become truly compassionate. By using this same technique on yourself (selfempathy), you listen to your unconscious allowing you to connect with your feelings and needs, and then choosing to either express yourself to others or receive them with empathy. E. Resolution Techniques Moving toward resolution in specific ways is a large part of the language of NVC where the goal is for participants to frame “connection and solution requests.” For example, you can request feedback on what you just said (in a paraphrased form) and how the other person feels about it. Using questions such as, “Are you willing to listen to my experience and share your understanding of my feelings and needs?” promote clarification toward a solution. Asking specifically for things you want in this way gives the other person free choice regarding the giving of those things. The request should be “doable,”

are interconnected and made of the same stuff. We can communicate without words on the inner planes. When using light to change a situation or relationship, you do not have to understand how it works. All you need do is be willing for a shift to happen, especially in yourself. The other person may be stubborn and may or may not respond to light or refuse to shift. In this case, be willing to let go of a positive resolution between you and the other person. Move on without an understanding on their part of your efforts. Sometimes what happens is that a resolution comes later after the “emotional charge” has dissipated. Years later, the light may finally do its work. We will never achieve world peace if we cannot resolve our personal conflicts. You may have heard, “World peace begins with you.” Start using light when conflict happens in your relationships and where you must make changes to manifest peace. You can be the source of love by being rational and kind in the midst of conflicts. Be like a master and show others how to communicate using these methods. You must be the first and others will learn from you!
We will never achieve world peace if we cannot resolve our personal conflicts. cause frustration, alienation and hostile actions, these are simply symptomatic of “collective fear.” If we focus on cooperation and attempt to understand what divides us, we will have better communication and start a healing process. Start with communicating better with family members and friends and the ripples of change will widen to larger communities. Discovering your deeper motivations, and how you respond to them, is imperative for improved communication. continued from page 31 >>
F. Spiritual Resolution Techniques When using this technique for resolve a conflict, recognize that each of you are Spirit. Neither is “more Spirit than the other.” When meditating, recognize the other person as Spirit rather than an enemy or someone who is “wrong.” Recognizing each person is an extension of your Spirit will make it easier to communicate respectfully in order to bring about positive resolutions to conflicts. Put light and love around the situation or relationship, put light between you and the other person, or between you and a business. Use your inner knowledge about using light as a powerful method with which to bring resolve conflicts. When you put light on a situation or a relationship, light finds a solution even if your mind has none. Light is a “tool of consciousness” that identifies a solution that is best for both of you, not just one of you. Use the inner planes to do most of the work in problem-solving and communication in conflicts. On this level, new words are spoken and less work is needed. It is an easier, radical way to solve communication problems than traditional psychological approaches. We

ave you heard about the Akashic Records and wondered: What are they? Where are they? What do they have to do with me? And how can I use them? The Records hold information for us in many areas, including past lives, soul level contracts, personal life design, and future probabilities, and we actually use them all the time, unconsciously. Often equated to a universal supercomputer system, the Akashic Records are a storehouse of all information for every individual who has ever lived. “Akasha” comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “boundless space.” Akashic Record information is stored and transmitted by patterns and waves of energy on and through a frictionless, ether-like medium that >> continued on page 34 33
is everywhere. Any type of endeavor — whether action, thought, desire or deed — creates a vibration, which produces a mark upon this web of space and time and is permanently identified with the individual responsible. Much more than simply a memory storehouse, these Akashic Records are interactive; they have a tremendous influence upon our everyday lives, our relationships, feelings, belief systems, and the potentials and probabilities we draw to us. continued from page 33 >>
Each lesson is repeated until it is mastered.
KARMIC ENERGY The frequencies and energy patterns of our own personal records have a magnetic energy, which draws to us events, people and conditions for a continuous, ongoing course of soul growth through time and space, experienced by us as successive lifetimes. Each lifetime is influenced by choices and decisions made in previous incarnations. Each lesson is repeated until it is mastered. This repetition of lessons is what many people call karma. Karma is not “punishment,” but a process of learning. There really isn’t karma between people; instead, there is only karma with one’s own self. The
ultimate resolution of an issue is not dependent on the actions and choices of other people, but on our own thoughts, choices and actions. We always have free will to make our own choices in the present that support our Soul’s growth. What is most important about any single lifetime is what an individual does with the opportunities in the present moment, which come from the evolving storehouse of the Akashic Records. Whether we realize it or not, we are continuously learning and growing every moment of every lifetime. As we finish with one lesson or issue, another will be brought forward for our attention. Sometimes, to totally resolve an issue all at once would be too much of a shock to a person’s system. So the same issue may return to you, again and again, each time to be healed or resolved at a deeper level. GETTING HELPFUL INFORMATION FROM THE PAST Our present day challenges usually have their roots in choices and decisions we made in past lives. The influence from a person’s past provides a framework of present time potentials and probabilities. An unresolved issue has a kind of magnetic vibration, drawing to a person the relationships and events and lessons that will promote the soul’s growth. When we are working on a lesson, we unconsciously “light up” or access other lifetimes in which we had similar experiences. It is possible to visit those past lifetimes, consciously, by accessing the Akashic Records. From those other lifetimes, we can get information to help us in our current experience so we can make wise choices now in this lifetime. We can 34
see an unfinished lesson, a forgotten talent, or how we resolved a similar situation in another lifetime. These past memory patterns, stored in the Records, can be drawn upon at any time. It isn’t so important who an individual has once been in the past, but who an individual is in the process of becoming in the present. The past merely provides a framework of data with which to work—what an individual does with that data becomes a matter of free will and a portion of the records for the rest of all time. READING THE AKASHIC RECORDS We humans are multidimensional beings. We are constantly interacting with frequencies of energy and patterns of light and sound, beyond what we can perceive with our five senses. The Akashic Records is a field of energy that lies within these unseen frequencies. So to find the Akashic Records, we have to think in terms of frequency, perception, and intention, rather than in terms of time, place, or matter. “Reading the Akashic Records” is a metaphor for obtaining the information from this field of energy and understanding it. The information is stored as patterns of vibration, much as information is stored in a computer. When we access it, we are actually receiving it symbolically rather than literally, in words. We can perceive this information symbolically with our extrasensory perception. You will probably pick up the Akashic information in the same form that you currently pick up extrasensory perceptions. U s i n g meditation, some people will see or be aware of images or pictures. Some will actually see or be aware of words. Others may hear or be aware of a voice speaking to them. Others may sense color, music, and aroma or experience a body sensation or emotion. Whatever you see or imagine is perfect. Other ways to access this information include: prayer, watching one’s dreams, >> continued on page 36

from page 35 >> noticing spontaneous imaginative experiences, hypnosis, getting a psychic reading, using astrology and numerology, or by observing its shadow or reflection running through all our present moment circumstances. It is also possible that many of our unconscious extrasensory perceptions are drawn from these Records. The interpretation of the information is influenced by a person’s belief systems, background, experiences, and personal motives. This is why it is so important to view the records from the neutrality of unconditional love. continued
A SIMPLE MEDITATION TRIP TO THE AKASHIC RECORDS 1. Choose a quiet place and time where you will not be disturbed. 2. Write down a specific topic or question. 3. Calm your mind with your favorite meditation, and rest your attention in the center of your head. 4. Invite a being of highest Love and Light to be your guide. 5. Imagine you are on a path of light that takes you to the Akashic Hall of Records. 6. Enter and ask the librarian for a book about you and your question. 7. Sit down, open the book, and let rays of light and energy flow to you from its pages. Experience the information as if you are having a daydream. 8. If you want more information, turn to another page. 9. When you feel complete, close the book and give it back to the librarian, and return on the path of light. 10. Be sure you are grounded and fully present in your body. 11. Thank your guide and make some notes on what you experienced. Based on what you have learned, ask yourself what new choices would you make now? The most important way to develop the ability to heal is to exercise it. By Antoine Marengo
A
quite materially-based, other traditions of medicine, such as Ayurveda, Chinese medicine and reconnective Healing, are inclusive of every level of human life, and are based on Philosophies which are essentially spiritually-based. The recent appearance of spiritual healers in operating rooms and the research in major hospitals on such phenomena as “holistic healing” are an indication that the seemingly separate worlds of science and spirituality are beginning to blend. “Healing is spontaneous and can happen anytime, in any place and on many different levels. It may be that a physical problem that heals, but it may also stay awhile to teach us something. Sometimes a health challenge is a doorway to a deeper healing. Although it is clear from these definitions that the word “healing” can be used in very broad ways, it most often refers to healing of the physical body, as in the healing of a disease of injury. It is also frequently used to indicate healing of mental, psychological, and emotional conditions. For those who are spiritually inclined, “to make sound or whole” would have to include the spiritual dimension of life, as well. A healer is someone who facilitates healing in another. No one heals anyone else. The healer does not “do” the healing. “Nature” does the healing. The mind-body-spirit has a natural, self-healing capacity. The healer simply >> continued on page 42
nything is possible in healing. When it comes to matters related to healing and spirituality, we are all involved in a journey of learning. The body is a marvelous self-healing mechanism, and we often underestimate the ability of the body and the human spirit to recover from illness and trauma. The Merriam-Webster dictionary gives the following definitions of healing: • to make sound or whole • to restore to health • to cause (an undesirable condition) to be overcome • to restore to original purity or integrity • to return to a sound state As the emotional and psychological factors which contribute to physical illness started to be more recognized, our medical institutions which once were more narrowly focused on the physical aspects of healing are gradually broadening their scope. More recently, consideration by these institutions is being given to the impact of spirituality on healing as well. Also known in Western societies as "conventional medicine", Allopathy focuses on treating the symptoms of diseases primarily through prescription drugs. Allopathy is the dominant medical system in the West; Allopathy’s usual method is treating disease with remedies that produce effects differing from those produced by the disease itself. Whereas Allopathic medicine is based on the scientific model which, until recently, has been 39

Healing is an extension of a natural human capacity. Some people may access it more easily than others, but everyone can develop this natural capacity. Not everyone, however, has the same kinds of healing abilities. Some may be more effective with physical ailments, some with psychological and emotional issues, while others may help people with spiritual growth which plays a part in their healing. Anyone can become a healer. When someone complains of pain and we reach out to touch them, or when a child cries and we sweep them up in our arms, we are exercising an automatic “healing response”. By exercising this natural ability, it can be developed further. It is important to note, however, that what being a “healer” means can vary quite a bit from person to person — the kinds of healing and results can be very different. Energy healing promotes healing by enhancing energy flow and correcting disturbances in the “human energy field” or “aura” which permeates and surrounds the body. Improving the
flow of energy in the energy field supports the selfhealing capacity of the body. Currently, in the light of modern science, there is a kind of revival of ancient understandings about energy healing which appeared in many times and cultures.

Antoine’s Healing Methods Offer Authentic Healing Results Antoine’s Healing Methods are listed in The National Center of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM). The National Center for Health Statistics, a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, showed that four in ten adults in the U.S. use some form of Complementary or Alternative Medicine each year. Antoine’s Healing Methods evolve from the proven science that has demonstrated healing can be accomplished by restoring balance in Body, Mind, and Spirit. The healing process manifests itself through a partnership between the practitioner and the patient/ client, who then becomes empowered with active elements in the healing process.
Who can benefit? Whether you are experiencing an emotional challenge (like anxiety, depression, grief, helplessness, or a general sense of being overwhelmed) or a physical health challenge, such as cancer, chronic pain, or a terminal illness, Antoine’s Healing Methods are designed to help you restore vitality and balance to your Body, Mind and Spirit. You may also see improvement with other challenging issues, such as the release of a long-held fear, greater insight and clarity into a personal concern, or improved relationships with others. The healing frequencies can also continue working with you after your visit with Antoine has ended. For many, this truly is a life-changing experience. Many healings are reported after just one session, although sometimes it can take longer for healing to unfold.
