Maximize Your Online Marketing with Listing Syndication

Not Mislead a Customer

A salesperson representing the seller is asked by a buyer if there are any plans to develop vacant land adjacent to the listed property. The salesperson is aware of published municipal discussions about proposed development of the lands, but knows that no official decision has been made. The salesperson tells that buyer that no decisions regarding development of the land have been made, but that the municipality is reviewing the issue and should be contacted if the buyer wants further information.

AHB has received calls from members having a problem with WEBForms®, where clauses are not separated and run in a continuing sentence. Upgrading your version of Windows should resolve the issue.

Presenter: Point2 marketing expert, Chris Exner Topics will include: • The top real estate websites in Canada • How to choose which websites your listings should go to and which ones they should not • Best practices to maximize lead generation through syndication • How to get your listings online and measure their performance for free Seating is limited - register today by email request to angelam@rahb.ca. A salesperson is showing his client’s home to a buyer at an open house. The buyer, who is not represented, asks for advice regarding the home’s structural condition. ● The

Township of Glanbrook (1974 – 2000) was formed when Glanford and Binbrook, two of Wentworth County’s original townships, amalgamated. The names Glanford and Binbook were a nod to Governor John Graves Simcoe’s native Lincolnshire, England. ● The townships were surveyed in the 1790s, and after being deforested by pioneer settlers, Glanbrook was suitable for grain cultivation and mixed agriculture. ● Dating back to the mid-1800’s, the townships of Binbrook and Glanford held annual agricultural fairs to showcase the produce of the many prosperous farms located throughout each township. The successor is the Binbrook Fall Fair, one of the oldest fall fairs in Canada. ● Binbrook was originally known as Hall’s Corners, named after Squire Hall. Hall’s general store contained the area’s first post office. ● In October 1940, an airport was built near the village of Mount Hope for use as a wartime air force training centre. After World War II, the Hamilton Aero Club took over two of the hangars. Gradually, until the early 1960’s, the Mount Hope Airport was transformed from a military to a public facility and, in 1998, was renamed John C. Munroe Airport, in recognition of the man who had been instrumental in making the facility a major international airport. ● In 2001 Glanbrook became part of the City of Hamilton. Communities that form the region of Glanbrook in RAHB’s district 53 include Binbrook, Elfrida, Glanford Station, Mount Hope, North Glanford, Sinclairville, and Woodburn. ● Canadian

Adding a photo to your Gmail signature

This article was provided by Tech HelpLine

What I’ve observed is that although the majority of Tech Helpline users do have small JPEG files for profile pictures, some don’t; I have even seen some Gmail users have very high resolution pictures in their email signatures, using over 10MB. Take that storage and multiply it by all the hundreds of thousands of people who use Gmail, and well, the storage levels add up quite a bit.

stored online). So if you don’t want to upload the file to a third party service, this tip is for you. 1) Select a photo/picture from your PC and send it to your mailbox (send yourself an email). • Create a new email • Drag and drop the image file in the message body field. • In CC, enter your email address and click Send. 2) Open the received email > right-click on the image file and select “Copy image URL”. 3) Click on “Settings” (small gear icon at the top right of your mailbox). 4) Click on “Settings”.

However, we have found a work-around to host your image on a server without the hassle of actually finding a host server. Simply put: make Google host it for you by following a few steps. We found the following information and, after testing it a few times, we find that it works.

5) Scroll down to the Signature section.

Here is what user FC posted on the website:

As far as we know, these steps are not against Google policy because when emailing the photo to yourself, your photo file gets compressed, so it does not take as much space in the Google server. We thank Koskea and user ‘FC’ for sharing this information with the world.

Issue How to add a picture file stored on my PC to my Gmail signature, without using any thirdparty service or application. Solution You can’t directly upload a picture and use it as signature. Gmail only accepts the URL for the image file (the picture must be

CREA News

A

CREA’S Data Distribution Facility is alive and well!

years ago, CREA’s Data Distribution Facility, or DDF®, is up and running and being used by brokers and salespeople across Canada.

What is the DDF ®?

It is an online service available exclusively to CREA members, at no charge. It expands your access to a national pool of listings, gives you control over where your listings go, and helps you drive and measure traffic to your listings, whether they are on your website or a third party site. Participation in the DDF® is optional – members wishing to be part of it set up their accounts and manage their accounts. However, the Broker of Record must opt in first. Without the Broker of Record’s agreement to participate, no member of that office may participate. There are three modules and four parts to the DDF®: the National Shared Pool and the National Franchisor Pool (Module 1), Member Website Feeds (Module 2) and Third Party Destinations (Module 3).

Module 1 The National Shared Pool (NSP)

At the end of June, there were nine franchisors accessing the National Franchise Pool: Better Homes and Gardens Canada, Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Exit Realty, Keller Williams Realty, Realty Executives, RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic Canada, Royal LePage and Sutton Real Estate. The pool had 113,700 listings and 936 brokerage owners participating.

Module 2 Member Website Feeds

Brokers of Record and salespeople can receive a data feed of their own listings to populate their own websites. At the end of June, 113,600 listings were being sent to 1468 data feeds used to populate member websites.

Module 3 Third Party Destinations

Brokers of Record and salespeople can populate CREA-approved real estate websites with their listings. At the end of June, 112,100 listings from 995 brokerages were sent to 15 real estate websites.

Brokers of Record contribute their listing content to a shared national data pool and, if they decide, they receive a feed from that pool to display all other participant’s listings on their websites. Salespeople in that Broker of Record’s office or brokerage may also choose to receive a feed of listing content from the National Shared Pool.

The Third Party Destination module is similar to RAHB’s own arrangement with Point2 to syndicate listings to third party real estate websites – and in fact, CREA is also using Point2. RAHB’s agreement with Point2 provides a wider variety of third party destinations, however, so members may wish to continue using RAHB’s upload to Point2.

Brokerages and salespeople operating a National Shared Pool website will be able to filter the listing content they receive based on objective criteria, such as waterfront properties or acreages or condominiums.

(NOTE: RAHB members who subscribe to Point2 Agent may have difficulty accessing the CREA DDF®. RAHB and Point2 are investigating the situation.)

At the end of June, 2014, the National Shared Pool had 129,200 listings and 1100 brokerage owners participating.

Find out more about the CREA DDF® – use the Data Distribution Facility Training Centre or Access the Data Distribution Facility buttons on the left had side of the RAHB home page in REALTOR Link®.

National Franchisor Pool (NFP)

Brokers of Record put their listings in this pool. Corporate franchisors populate their websites with all the listings of participating brokerage owners in the National Franchisor Pool.
