Empowering RAHB REALTORS® to Succeed
President’s Report I was honoured to serve as your RAHB President in 2019. It was a very busy and successful year for RAHB and our members. We saw our membership increase to an all-time high. We currently serve over 3,240 REALTORS®, and this number continues to climb. This is a reflection of the services we provide, and the business available in the RAHB market area. RAHB members attended our many events throughout the year. It was wonderful to see so many engaged members at our events, networking, socializing, and having discussions that help further the goals of our Association. Very notably, this past November we celebrated our 31st Annual Charity Auction at Michelangelo’s, where we welcomed over 400 REALTORS®, friends and partners, in support of the Children’s Fund. We raised over $85,000, which is the second highest amount ever raised in our event’s history. This year RAHB was pleased to donate over $30,000 to Habitat for Humanity HaltonMississauga, and over $70,000 to Habitat for Humanity Hamilton. This was made possible through the Home Ownership Affordability Program. Along with these donations, RAHB members had the opportunity to participate in several on-site builds for Habitat, and we look forward to continuing the relationship with these wonderful organizations. We saw some change this year. In the spring we found ourselves without a CEO, and the process was undertaken to select a new leader for the Association. We are very happy to have Carol Ann with us as our new CEO. We know she will lead the Association into the future, helping to empower RAHB REALTORS® to succeed. This summer, we renewed our data-sharing agreement with ORTIS to ensure our partnership will continue when ORTIS and the Ontario Collective (OC) become one entity during 2020. Concurrently, RAHB members were also given access to OC data through Intramatrix. These data sharing agreements will extend to the new entity, ultimately providing RAHB members with uninterrupted access to region-wide data from 23 boards and associations across Ontario. Our arrangement with ORTIS has worked well for our members over the last few years. We are pleased to continue to collaborate with other boards and associations in the best interest of our members. I look forward to serving as your Immediate Past President in 2020, and working with your dedicated Board of Directors to achieve even more for the benefit of our members in the coming years. Thank you for your support and friendship this past year. Bob Van de Vrande 2019 President RAHB 2019 ANNUAL REPORT | 1
CEO’s Report It is my pleasure to serve the more than 3,240 RAHB REALTORS® who bring vibrance to our Association, and who work tirelessly to connect current and future homeowners with RAHB’s diverse communities. Your Board of Directors and RAHB staff worked very hard while the Association was without a CEO for several months. I’d like to personally highlight Kim Sanders and Carolyn Infurnari, who acted as CEOs during this time and made sure there were no interruptions in service for RAHB members. As I settle into my new role, RAHB’s Board of Directors and entire staff team continue to be an exceptional source of support and expert knowledge. One of the most important initiatives during 2019 was the renewal of the data-sharing agreement with ORTIS. Importantly, this agreement will be extended to the new ORTIS/Ontario Collective entity when it is officially formed, ensuring RAHB members continue to have access to the MLS® data of 23 other boards and associations in Ontario. Going forward, your Board of Directors and I will continue to investigate data-sharing opportunities that benefit our members and the Association. In October, the RAHB Board of Directors, management staff and I met to engage in strategic planning for the Association. It was a very productive two days, with many ideas shared on how to enhance RAHB’s value proposition, as well as equip the Association and our members for the future. I am pleased to report that the Board of Directors recently approved the 2020–2024 Strategic Plan and its three strategic goals: diversification; leveraging assets and building capacity; and fostering stakeholder relationships. Accordingly, staff are currently engaged in building out the strategies and tactics that will form the operational backbone of the Plan, as well as direct the staff’s focus for the next five years. We’ll be sure to keep members informed of the progress and results as we move forward. Looking ahead to the near future, it is exciting for RAHB to be celebrating its 100-year anniversary in 2021. Planning is already underway and we hope you will join us in the celebrations as we mark this historic milestone. On a personal note, I would like to express what an honour and privilege it is to lead RAHB as your CEO. I look forward to working with you, as well as hearing your feedback and questions throughout the year. Carol Ann Burrell, CAE RAHB CEO 2 | RA H B 2 0 1 9 A N N U A L R E PO RT

Market Statistics The RAHB residential market balanced out from the high
activity experienced in 2016 and 2017; however, increases in average price and number of sales, paired with a decrease in new listings, indicates that 2019 favoured sellers more than in 2018. There were 12,866 sales of residential properties located within the RAHB market area processed through the Multiple Listing ServiceŽ (MLSŽ) System in 2019. This is 10.1 per cent more sales than in 2018. The average price of a residential property in 2019 was $587,745. This is up 4.9 per cent from 2018, and 95.3 per cent higher than 10 years ago. New residential listings were down 4 per cent compared to the previous year. The total dollar volume of all sales within the RAHB market area was $7,897,509,003 – up nearly $1B from 2018.
