Ravenscroft Alumni Association Strategic Plan 2014-2018

Dear Fellow Alumni: Your Alumni Council is very excited to present you with the Ravenscroft Alumni Association Strategic Plan 2014-2018. We hope you will read it carefully and better understand the Association’s goals. Many of you helped us create this plan for our future by filling out our survey. Through the survey and personal conversations with alumni, faculty, current parents and students, we are confident that we have a valuable roadmap for the future. The groundwork has been laid, but the challenge of implementation remains. The commitment to establish an Alumni Strategic Plan grew from a discussion at a meeting of Alumni Council past presidents. The group, realizing the healthy and continuous growth of the organization, urged current leadership to plan for the future and provide a means for Association members to channel their efforts via a common set of goals. You will notice in the Alumni Association Strategic Plan that we want to foster meaningful connections through involvement, communicate and celebrate our alumni, encourage alumni philanthropy, and strengthen Ravenscroft’s legacy of leading and serving. Thank you for your continued support of Ravenscroft and the Alumni Association. I encourage you to be an active member of the Ravenscroft Alumni Association and help us sustain and grow our membership to better serve our alma mater. Sincerely,

Dr. Laura Helton Kalorin ‘92 Alumni Council President

Mission: The Ravenscroft Alumni Association promotes relationships between alumni, provides value to the alumni experience and encourages a mutual exchange of support and interest between alumni and the School.

Vision: The Ravenscroft Alumni Association represents an alumni body: • That is supportive of Ravenscroft, its mission, programs, and activities; • That is fully integrated into the Ravenscroft community; • That has a powerful voice in guiding Ravenscroft’s strategic direction; • That is leaving its mark on our times – and that is aided by Ravenscroft in doing so; • That values the diverse talents and viewpoints of each member of the Ravenscroft community; • That keeps company with – and supports – one another.

Strategic Goals: 1. Foster meaningful connections between alumni and Ravenscroft through participation and involvement in local and regional events and programs. 2. Enhance communications to alumni and to the greater community to celebrate alumni. 3. Encourage alumni as key partners in sustaining and improving the fiscal health of Ravenscroft through both philanthropy and admissions. 4. Exemplify the ethos of leadership and citizenship by continuing the legacy of leading and serving throughout the world.

Goal 1 Foster meaningful connections between alumni and Ravenscroft through participation and involvement in local and regional events and programs. • Establish a Networking Program that incorporates: LinkedIn, Networking Events or Series, Career Week and Senior, College Internships through a joint Alumni Council/Alumni Office committee. • Continue to support local events for all alumni, and affinity events for young alumni, Tucker Street alumni and students. • Revise Reunion schedule beginning in 2014-2015 by moving reunions into the spring and establishing a Reunion Weekend plan. • Establish a Regional Event visit schedule and by 2014-2015 begin publishing travel schedule.

Goal 2 Communications to alumni and to the greater community to celebrate alumni. • Utilize the magazine (features, profiles, class notes), eNews (stories), social media and school website to foster a sense of pride in alumni achievements and to enhance visibility of alumni as partners in the Ravenscroft community • Revise alumni section of website to better communicate calendar and other items of interest. • Utilize alumni events to spread Ravenscroft messaging. • Work with Communications, Admissions and Marketing to highlight alumni in school advertising when appropriate. • Continue to reach out to Class Agents and Reunion volunteers to identify and engage lost alumni.

Goal 3 Encourage alumni as key partners in sustaining and improving the fiscal health of Ravenscroft through both philanthropy and admissions. • 100% participation in the Annual Fund from the Alumni Council. • Recognize alumni who give consecutively by developing a loyalty society to steward these donors as a group by 2014-2015 as well as recognize these donors through the Annual Report on Giving each year. • Increase number of alumni volunteers to grow the class giving volunteers program and increase peer solicitations. • Include alumni in the campaign through their support of the annual fund and the endowment. By 2015-2016 to offer a giving opportunity exclusively to alumni through the campaign where they can contribute as a group ($1,862 - $100,000) • Market the Josiah Ogden Watson Society to alumni, including Tucker Street, with a goal of identifying and welcoming seven new members a year. • Schedule outreach opportunities between the Alumni Office and the Admissions Office for alumni specific gatherings.

Goal 4 Exemplify the ethos of leadership and citizenship by continuing the legacy of leading and serving throughout the world. • Encourage alumni to model service leadership through volunteer participation on campus and in their local communities. • Partnering with Upper School leadership to identify alumni-sponsored internships for seniors as part of their Capstone Project. • Assist college-age alumni in securing rewarding internships with alumni in relevant areas of interest. • Establish a leadership education program for alumni in partnership with The Center for Creative Leadership.
