FROM THE DIRECTOR Welcome to the Glendale Public Facilities, Recreation & Special Events Department. We can all probably agree, it has been quite a year! As we look forward to the pandemic subsiding, we are excited to announce the re-implementation of some of our parks and recreation activities, programs, and services. In this publication, you will find a variety of leisure activities, programs, and special events for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities. We are excited to announce the O’Neil Park Splash Pad will have its grand opening this summer on Saturday, May 29th. Access to the new splash pad is FREE and will be open during the summer months. We are looking forward to re-opening Rose Lane Aquatics Center this summer after completing a refurbishment of the pools. Our team of dedicated parks and recreation professionals take a great deal of pride in providing outstanding parks,
recreation programs, facilities, and services for our residents and visitors. Please review this publication for a complete listing of what we are currently offering. YOUTH GROUP CLASSES Ages 12 and younger Resident: $26 Non-Resident: $49 (8) 30-minute classes Ages 6 months – 4 This class is an introduction to water and is geared towards young children with little or no experience in the water. Children will have fun while learning how to be safe around the water. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Swim diapers are required for children 3 years and younger. Ages 3 – 5 Participant must be able to spend 30 minutes with a swim instructor without parental involvement and must be able to hang onto the wall independently. Participants will be supported by instructor, if needed. This class focuses on water safety, basic swimming readiness skills, and comfort in the water. Objectives include floating on back, bobbing, and arm and leg actions. Ages 6 - 8 Participants must be able to enter and exit the water unassisted. This class focuses on water safety, fundamental water skills, and swim stroke development. Objectives for this class, include swimming on the front and back unsupported and introduction to competitive and survival strokes.

Ages 9 - 12 Participants must be comfortable in deep water. This class focuses on water safety and swim stroke improvement. Objectives for this class include refining competitive and survival strokes and increasing endurance. 5

MEMBERSHIP Membership rates at FRAC are assembled to accommodate many different lifestyles. A membership includes access to the full fitness center, basketball gymnasium, social racquetball and pickleball, an indoor walking/jogging track, rock wall, lap swimming, basic aerobics, and the locker rooms. Membership rates start at $35 per month for a single adult and up to $700 for an annual family pass. Please see our website for all the membership rates. Your kids, ages 6-11, will have a memorable summer at our supervised, drop-in, summer camp. Camp sessions are weekly from June 7 – July 30 and open from 7 AM – 6 PM. There will be no camp on Monday, July 5, with a prorated rate $88 RESIDENT / $116 NON-RESIDENT. Trained staff have programmed a variety of spaces throughout the facility including swimming, physical activities, arts and crafts, guest speakers, and physical activity. Participants are required to bring a non-perishable lunch and snacks. Registration opens April 1st and space is limited. Refund or cancellation requests must be submitted at least 7 calendar days in advance of the registered start date. This course will include: adult hands-only CPR, adult/ child/infant CPR, AED usage, and how to relieve choking in an adult, child, or infant. Course content conforms to the American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care. Upon successful completion, each participant will receive a two year certification card. Looking to upgrade your CPR/AED Certification to the CPR BLS Healthcare Certification? Just sign up as usual and bring $30 extra to class with you. This will add 45 minutes to your time. The AERT CPR/BLS PRO Health Care Level is designed for healthcare professionals. Course covers both single rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in and out of hospital settings. (Ages 13+) This training is designed to provide core knowledge and hands-on skills to provide care for the injured until EMS arrives. This course will include: adult hands-only CPR, adult/child/infant CPR, AED usage, and how to relieve choking in an adult, child or infant. Course content conforms to the American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care. Upon successful completion, each participant will receive a two-year certification card. Looking to upgrade your CPR/AED Certification to the CPR BLS Healthcare Certification? Just sign up as usual and bring $30 extra to class with you. This will add 45 minutes to your time. The AERT CPR/BLS PRO Health Care Level is designed for healthcare professionals. Course covers both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in and out of hospital settings. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED.
