Labyrinth CAMPUS

Mindful meet-up

In the midst of a bustling campus, a handful of people are focused on walking between white lines on a giant canvas covering the basketball field. They are practicing a thousand-year-old form of meditation by walking a labyrinth. This process usually is less guided, but in this case the path comes with various instructions or questions to get participants thinking. The instructions are tied to various objects, like a candle that you can light for someone dear to you. Or a compass distorted by a magnet, to reflect on finding your way.

Every month, NewConnective organizes a ‘Mindful Meet-up’ like this one, tied to the university’s Mindful Library – hence the many books scattered across the labyrinth. They add to the ambience but perhaps more importantly, they keep the canvas from being blown away. (NK)
