FROM THE EDITOR
Welcome to your Summer Guide to Riverton!
It's fair to say summer is always a fun time of the year, but a Riverton summer is distinctly magical While the "how" is difficult to articulate, the defining moments are experienced daily
It is the excitement of the first drive on our Donald Ross gem and serving up fun on the tennis courts with a group of old and new friends It is a relaxing warm night of live music and a cool refreshing drink on the patio It is seeing your little one's face light up as they run to their friends or tell you about their day at camp. It is the buzz of laughter you can hear across the property during a member event. And it is the delightfully warm "welcome home" smile you receive every time you walk through the door
This summer promises to deliver all these moments and more Picture it now: a fun day spent with family and friends at our beautiful new pool complex, capped off with a nightcap while taking in the sweeping views of our course at our new state-of-the-art two-story Golf Center Yes, this summer will be one for the books, and the magic has just begun!
So once more, and as always, we look forward to creating unforgettable memories with you this summer, and we thank you for making this such a special place to call home
Happy Reading, Casey-Lee Waldron
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT
Welcome to the Summer Edition of Ripples! Let me begin by extending my sincere thanks to the Board for their vote of confidence in providing me the honor of being your President for another year
Congratulations and thanks are also in order for Tom Hagner, Charlie Hanna, and Jim Kennedy for their election and willingness to serve another term on our Board of Trustees
I would also like to thank everyone who attended our Annual Meeting in April, whether in person or via Zoom; our goal is to provide sufficient and helpful information through this forum For those unable to attend the meeting, I encourage you to take a moment to review the video recording found under the Club Governance tab of our website
Hopefully, you have seen the announcement regarding our next Head Golf Professional, Mike Ferguson I speak on behalf of the entire membership in extending one final thank you to Kevin Duffy for his many years of service to our club and wishing him and his family the very best in their next steps Kevin will be missed, but we are thrilled to welcome Mike to the Riverton family! Mike brings to Riverton enthusiasm, expertise, and a strong desire to continue providing an unparalleled golf experience for our members and their guests He and his wife (Macy) will be moving into the area over the next few weeks and getting settled in The Board and Search Committee are confident Mike will hit the ground running and will be an outstanding fit for our community Please be sure to stop by and welcome Mike to our family-he is excited to meet everyone! A big thank you goes out to our Search Committee members for their time, efforts, and dedication to finding the perfect candidate to join us throughout this process
In addition to the excitement of welcoming Mike, the Board, and Staff are brimming with excitement and enthusiasm for the opening of our new amenities While the Construction Committee continues diligently working with our professionals to get us open, Hannah and her team have been preparing to provide you and your guests with a truly exceptional experience Please let me reiterate to keep in mind areas will be opening in phases as we continue navigating some of the challenges we have been facing related to supply-chain issues and the timing of the year For example, we have received recommendations on the optimal time to plant and will not fully landscape all areas until the majority of construction is complete As always, providing outstanding facilities and service is our top priority Just as we did with the new patio and Great Lawn opening, the Board and staff will get things up and running and evaluate and adjust as we go to provide you, your family, and your guests with an exceptional experience
There is much more information in the following pages, so please take the time to read this quarterly update and be sure to stay current with all email updates sent from Casey. (If you are not receiving club emails, please let Casey know at cwaldron@rivertoncc.com)
I look forward to seeing you all at the club, and as always, please feel free to drop me a note with any ideas or comments.

DIVE INTO OUR COMMUNITY THIS SUMMER
donna surrette
Riverton summers are truly magical and seem even more exceptional with each passing year. From our incredible Junior Racquets & Golf Programs, our KE Youth Camp, Riverton Wave Swim Team, and exciting member events (to name a few), we really are your home away from home. And this summer, we have something no other club can offer…a beautiful, brand-new resort-style pool complex that we are so excited to open and provide outstanding service to you and your guests throughout the summer months.
While our community is the perfect place to make special memories with your family, I encourage you to make it your goal this summer to make new connections with your fellow members. Our community is vibrant and growing by the day, so this summer is the perfect time to take advantage of expanding your circle. I urge you all (new and tenured members alike) to take a moment to update your member profile on our website.
After conducting a bit of research, I found that out of 1,188 member profiles, only 131 members have an updated profile with a photo on the website! There are abundant benefits to updating your profile, including ensuring your contact information is correct, finding members with similar interests and professions, and putting a face to a name to make for an even warmer experience for fellow members and staff alike. You can even build a Buddy List and perhaps organize a Ladies' Night on the patio, find some new guys to hit the courts with, or add someone new to add to your foursome.
So after you finish reading through this edition of Ripples, head to the website and get to work updating! If you have questions or need assistance, visit the How To section under the New Member Welcome Page or call me or Casey.
Cheers to an exciting summer full of new connections ahead!

The start of the 2023 golf season has been like the start of a Formula One Grand Prix-lights out and zero to 150 mph! Much like the research and preparation a Formula One team puts into their cars, our Agronomy Team has been hard at work, preparing and installing the building blocks that will lead us into a great summer of golf; a summer where the course is playing consistently and is both challenging and fun for members and guests of all handicaps
To prepare for this summer, the Agronomy Team utilized building blocks comprised of long-term practices and new methods and technologies. If you were out on the course over the winter, you most likely observed the sand topdressing on the greens. This practice has several benefits: helps promote upright grass
BUILDING BLOCKS TO A GREAT SUMMER
growth in spring, dilutes thatch to help promote a firmer playing surface, and helps protect the grass growing point against winter weather Over the winter, we also adjusted our practice of utilizing wetting agents by tweaking the ratio of the two types of long-term wetting agents and implementing a daily-use wetting agent We are thrilled with how the course has responded to the new changes and happy with the results thus far this season
If this year ’ s changes are our new bricks, the practices and methods we have had in place for the last five years are our keystones. These keystones include our aeration program, restoration work, tree management, and drainage. Our aeration program has allowed sand topdressing to become incorporated into the soil profile

Ripples | Page 9
of our greens while creating channels that allow water and air to move deeper into the greens, resulting in a firmer playing surface The Ross Restoration (which we completed last year) has been a great success and will continue to improve with time as the newly constructed areas mature Additionally, removing select trees has enhanced the growing environment in numerous areas To continue this program, we have engaged our golf course architect and a local arborist to assist us in creating a comprehensive tree management plan This will allow us to identify trees for removal and areas for planting new trees And when it comes to drainage, a superintendent once said, “Pipe in the ground is money in the bank ” To that end, we have added drainage in all bunkers, as well as select areas in the rough and fairways
These additions have helped promote firmer playing surfaces, decreased the time cart usage has been limited, and allowed our Agronomy Team time to focus on other items after rainfall
The progress our course has seen these past five years has been as fun to be a part of as it is to play The building blocks we have thoughtfully laid have created a foundation we will continue to build upon as new items are added and enhanced When thinking about truly how far our golf course has come, I feel we have only scratched the surface of the potential of our Donald Ross gem and look forward to the many exciting things to come Cheers to a great summer ahead!

Summer Menus
We recently released our Summer Menus, and I'm excited for everyone to find a new favorite dish! My team and I worked hard to curate a menu reflective of the season with bright, light, and flavorful new items Of course, we kept the Riverton fan faves, so there's a nice balance of new and old items to enjoy!
Goals This Season
This season, one of my main focuses continues to be getting to know more of our members I love walking the floor during dinner service, greeting members, discussing menu items, and hearing your suggestions for future dishes At the end of the day, my job is to provide you and your guests with a dining experience you can count on enjoying each time you walk through the door Another goal I plan to work towards this season is developing more culinary-driven events Our first Chefs Tasting Experience was a huge success! I look forward to hosting similar events in the future with small groups of adventurous foodies who enjoy trying new foods and techniques! I also hope to host several cooking classes to show how easy cooking can be with the right ingredients and tools.
As always, my team and I will continue to raise the bar in our culinary program and deliver high-quality, exceptional food
Did You Know?
We recently switched to an RTI oil filtration system This allows the kitchen to filter and dispose of our fryer oil quickly and safely With this system, oil can be filtered, disposed, and replaced without the employee needing to do any heavy lifting or moving through the kitchen with hot grease.
This also provides our members with a product that tastes better and is less greasy
Dirty grease is also called “yellow grease ” Yellow grease from commercial kitchens is filtered to create “feedstock” oil The “feedstock” oil is processed and converted to pure biofuel Biofuel can be combined with conventional diesel to create a more sustainable, ecofriendly fuel The fuel has a low carbon content and doesn’t produce carbon monoxide
Used cooking oil is already playing a part in powering airplanes & heating homes while reducing the environmental impact of all those activities
