La nona edizione di 5VIE Design Week si svolgerà sotto un titolo di "Prototyping Utopias". La città diventa laboratorio per prototipare utopie possibili e per mettere in scena le ipotesi evolutive: 5VIE coglie l'occasione per raccontarsi, non solo come distretto del design, ma anche come comunità di interes-
si, attiva lungo tutto l'arco dell'anno. Il tema sarà declinato lungo direttrici diverse ma interconnesse: le mostre ospiti e le produzioni 5VIE; progetti partner; il territorio e suoi attori; infine, la dedica che ogni anno intitoliamo ad un designer o architetto storicizzato, che ha saputo affermarsi come interprete d'eccellenza dell'istanza individuata, che quest'anno va al collettivo radicale Archizoom Associati. Naturale conseguenza è stata il coinvolgimento di Poltronova, azienda che ha saputo dare corpo alle visioni di Archizo-
om, tra gli anni '60 e'70, grazie al coraggio imprenditoriale di Sergio Cammilli e alla illuminata direzione artistica di Ettore Sottsass. All'Headquarter di 5VIE, in via Cesare Correnti 14, il Centro Studi Poltronova presenta un focus sul lavoro di Archizoom,allestendo un angolo lettura dove consultare due volumi della collana Le Monografie di Poltronova, Superonda: Archizoom Associati e l'ultima uscita Mies + Sanremo: Archizoom Associati, Sarà possibile rilassarsi sfogliando
pilastro monolitico che si innalza imitando gli edifici della storia antica e precisamente la torre di Babele, che però si traduce in simbolo di comunicazione, solidarietà, unione e armonia tra gli esseri umani. L'installazione, che accompagna e contestualizza l'ultima collezione di mobili del designer libanese, è realizzata interamente a mano: un'ode all'artigianato e un proclama per preservare il nostro patrimonio culturale in via di estinzione, esplorando le relazioni
libri sulla storica seduta Superonda di Archizoom nella sua nuova veste Farfalla per interni ed esterni. 5VIE si attiva per produrre mostre e installazioni che facciano emergere gli aspetti più culturali della pratica del design. In particolare, quest'anno presenterà due progetti: "Woven Whispers" di Richard Yasmine, un'installazione che rappresenta su scala ridotta il nostro sistema sociale, mettendo in evidenza presupposti fisici e al contempo psicologici di una società e delle sue infrastrutture. Un monumentale
tra Oriente e Occidente. "Little monsters / scary beasts di co/rizom" mette in scena la sinergia tra design, impresa e artigianato, mostrando una strada fattuale per nuovi sviluppi creativi realmente sostenibili, in un processo di empowerment delle comunità locali attraverso la valorizzazione delle loro tradizioni e culture del fare. Per il terzo anno, 5VIE curerà inoltre due mostre collettive per dare la possibilità anche a designer e brand emergenti di esporre propri lavori nel cuore di Milano. In Galleria dei Benefattori Ahu
presenta Modern Heirlooms (Cimeli Moderni), The Empty Dinner presenta "Absence Stool", un'opera ispirata al senso di perdita che si accompagna alla separazione da una persona cara; Tom Fereday presenta "Port Light", una celebrazione delle proprietà del vetro cristallo sotto forma di una raffinata collezione di lampade, in collaborazione con l'azienda australiana Rakumba Lighting; TU BI, un progetto di sculture in ceramiche di Ivan Tafuro, ispirato agli elementi e ì decori urbani della città di Milano. All'interno degli spazi del FabLab: Alexandre Labruyère con la collezione "Pétiole"; Amodino Milano che presenta "All the Things You Are", oggetti di materia ceramica; gli oggetti scultorei in marmo di Elham Nejati; le lampade Amala e Rebirth di Giulia Archimede; Moure I Studio che presenterà due pezzi da collezione, il tavolo Silvia e lo stool Hughes; Luciana Teixeira con una selezione di lampade e arredi disegnati per Supapo Criativo, e realizzate a mano da artigiani brasiliani; Zarolat con la sedia in edizione limitata Luna Chair. HoperAperta propone un tema - La Superficie Assoluta - ispirato al lavoro del filosofo francese Raymond Ruyer. Nella preziosa cornice di Palazzo Litta, Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship presenta Doppia Firma. Masterly—The Dutch in Milano, m dedicato al design, all'alto artigianato e all'arte olandesi, celebra la sua Sesta Edizione. E molto altro si potrà vedere in questi giorni. www.5vie.it
The ninth edition of the 5VIE Design Week will take place under a bold title: Prototyping Utopias. The City of Milan as a Laboratory Where it is Possible to Prototype Utopias: 5VIE takes this opportunity to tell its fullstory, not only as a design district, but also as a community of interests, active all throughout the year. The theme will be declined along different yet interconnected lines: the guest exhíbitions and the 5VIE productions; the partner projects; the territory and its actors; and iinally, the dedication that every year we entitle to a designer or architect, who established itself as an interpreter of excellence, which this year goes to the radical collective Archízoom Associati. The involvement of Poltronova was a natural consequence of this choice. Poltronova is a company that was able to give substance to Archizoom's visions between the 1960s and 1970s, thanks to the entrepreneurial courage ofSergio Cammilli and the enlightened artistic direction of Ettore Sottsass. At the 5VIE Headquarter, in via Cesare Correnti 14, the Centro Studi Poltronova presents a focus on Archizoom's work, setting up a reading corner where you can consult two volumes of the series Le Monografie di Poltronova, Superonda:Archizoom Associati and the last issue Mies + Sanremo: Archizoom Associati, You can relax while reading through books, while sitting on the historic Superonda chair byArchizoom Associati, in its new Farfalla version for indoor and outdoor use 5VIE is active in producing exhibitions and installations that bring out the most cultural aspects of design practice. In particular, this year it will present two projects: "Woven
Whispers by Richard Yasmine, an installation that represents our social system on a small scale, highlighting the physicaland at the same time psychological roots ofa society and its infrastructures. A monumental monolithic pillar that imitates Ancient History buildings, and precisely the tower of Babel. At the same time, the pillar ís also a symbol of communication, solidarity, union and harmony among human beings. The installation, which accompaníes and contextualizes the Lebanese designer's latest furniture collection, is entirely hand-made. lt is a praise to craftsmanship furthermore a proclamation to preserve our vanishing cultural heritage, while exploring the relationship between the East and West. "Little monsters/scary beasts ofco/rizom"stages the synergy between design, enterprise, and craftsmanship, paving a way for new creative developments that are truly sustainable, in a process of empowerment oflocal communities through the enhancement of their traditions and culture. For the third year, SVIE will also curate two group exhibitions to give the opportunity to emerging designers and brands to show their work in the heart of Milan. In the Galleria Benefattori:Ahu presents Modern Heirlooms, a young studio based in London and Istanbul that designs collectible pieces produced by master craftsmen ín Istanbul; The Empty Dinner presents Absence Stool a work inspired by the sense ofloss that comes with the separation from a loved one; Tom Fereday presents Port Light, a celebration of the properties of crystal glass in the form of a refined collection oflamps, in collaboration with theAustralian company Rakumba
Lighting; TU BI, a project of ceramic sculptures by Ivan Tafuro, inspired by the elements and urban decorations of the cityof Milan. Inside the FabLab spaces:Alexandre Labruyère with the Pétiole collection;Amodino Milano presenting All the Things YouAre, ceramic objects; Elham Nejati's marble sculptural objects; Giulia Archimede's Amala and Rebirth lamps; Moure /Studio presenting two collectible pieces, the Silvia table and the Hughes stool; Luciana Teixeira with a selection oflamps and furniture designed for Supapo Criativo, and handmade by Brazilian artisans;Zarolat wíth the limited edition Luna Chair operAperta, which this year proposes a theme - La SuperficieAssoluta (The Absolute Surface)- inspired by the work of the French philosopher Raymond Ruyer.
