The Tribute Wins Coveted People’s Choice Community of the Year Award from the Dallas Builders Association for Second Year in a Row The Tribute Lakeside Golf & Resort Community once again received the coveted People’s Choice Award for the second year in a row at the 40th Annual McSAM Awards presented by the Dallas Builders Association. “For our residents to choose The Tribute as Community of the Year for two years running speaks volumes,” said Kathy Cunningham, vice president of Matthews Southwest, the developer of The Tribute. “We are thrilled to serve our homeowners with a distinctive lifestyle and unmatched natural amenities.” The People’s Choice Award was based on a survey sent by a third-party research group to the community’s residents. The Tribute competed against some of the top master-planned communities in DFW.

Woody and Linda were both heavily involved in their hometown of Garland, where they moved lived since 1961. ‘Brownlee Auditorium’ in the Granville Arts Center in downtown Garland honors their tireless dedication to the visual and performing arts.

How did you get into new home sales? A friend of mine was hired as a new home sales representative and encouraged me to give it a try. I did and I was with K Hovnanian Homes (formerly Goodman Family of Builders) for over 10 years! I will celebrate my 11th year with First Texas Homes in August! I guess I’m a veteran now, as I have been an on-site sales counselor since 1998. SO glad THAT design fad has passed... The home fad I am glad that has not made a comeback (although there are many!) would be, hands down, the burnt orange or avocado color appliance package and the carpet selections to match it! Most enjoyable part of new homes sales... It is such an honor being an integral part of helping navigate, what is often, the largest purchase in someone’s life - that of home ownership. Being a part of where ‘life happens and memories are made’ is gratifying and humbling. To be chosen to be a part of that process, knowing people put their trust in myself, our staff and our company to launch that pathway to their future is inspiring and is not taken lightly.
