has created a safety net of services for children in our community who have faced abuse, neglect or are at-risk.
We do this through our healing philosophy that provides emergency funding for children in Larimer County when all other resources are exhausted.
We support the process of recovery through youth activities, critical item distributions, and resources to the children served by our Partner Agencies.
We work to break the cycle of abuse through special direct grant programs and scholarships for the youth we serve. Because no child should be forgotten.

Asthe Membership Relations Manager and therapy dog handler, I have the pleasure of working with some of the most incredible people in our community. Serving as a Pet Therapy team with Remi and Rio is truly rewarding as I get to interact with children I adore and increase awareness of the issues of child abuse and neglect. We attend our monthly Youth Activities, public schools, community events, and Partner Agencies programs.
I also have the opportunity to connect with, promote and encourage our community to work with our Business Members. These business leaders are dedicated to seeing that no child who has been abused, neglected, or are at-risk in our community is forgotten. Every month I create and manage our networking opportunities where we come together to support one another, develop new relationships and reach further in service. These amazing business leaders have become part of my family and every business who helps us to serve the needs of children are listed in this directory. I encourage you to make this directory your primary business resource and choose to work with these businesses whenever you need their services.
The impact of our Business Members, Youth Agencies and community members working together is inspiring. Last year the Realities For Children family provided: Emergency Services to 5,090 children,Youth Activities for 2,032 children, Facilities Space for 3,208 children and their guardians and distributed needed items to over 18,000 children locally.
Thank you for taking time to learn more about the services we provide. I am beyond grateful to be a part of this compassionate community who continues to rally around children in need. I wish you a blessed 2023!

THIRD-PARTY EVENTS HIGHLIGHT REALITIES FOR CHILDREN
As expansive as these events are, we can always reach further into our community making sure that everyone knows that they can be a part of the solution! That’s where you come in!
We are blessed by the generosity of our community, through businesses and individuals who tell us that they would like to host an event for the primary purpose of benefitting Realities For Children! This is what we call our Third-Party Events, when an outside, unaffiliated person or organization is envisioning, creating, hosting, and managing an event on our behalf.
These events are as unique as their hosts – from cornhole tournaments, comedy nights, and more. Any event can be turned into an opportunity to raised awareness and support for the children we serve.
AMBASSADORS
The Ambassador program is comprised of a select group of Business Members who volunteer their time and talents to network and participate in fundraising events as spokespeople for Realities For Children.
They help generate business leads and educate organizations on how they can become part of the solution to child abuse in our community.

Fostering a child can be a rewarding experience for both the child and the foster parents. However, it can also be a difficult transition for the child, as they may be leaving behind their familiar surroundings and the people they love. It is important for foster parents to make the child feel welcome in their new home and to help them adjust to their new environment. Here are three ways to make a new foster child feel welcome in their new home:
1. Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The first thing a foster child sees when they enter their new home is the environment. Make sure the child’s room is decorated with their favorite colors and that it has all the essentials they need, such as a comfortable bed and a desk for homework. Create a space that feels like their own.
2. Show genuine interest and take time to get to know the child. Foster children have often been through difficult experiences and may be feeling vulnerable. Take time to listen to the child and learn about their likes and dislikes, their hobbies and interests. Show them that you are truly interested in them and their well-being.
3. Help the child to maintain connections with their past. Foster children may have to leave
PARTNER AGENCIES
behind their family and friends, which can be a difficult and traumatic experience. Help the child to maintain connections with their past by encouraging them to stay in touch with their family and friends. Help them to keep pictures and mementos of their past with them, so they can feel connected to the people they care about.
Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, showing genuine interest and taking time to get to know the child and helping the child to maintain connections with their past are three important ways to make a new foster child feel welcome in their new home. Remember that fostering a child is a big responsibility and it can be a difficult transition for the child, but with the right approach and a lot of patience, you can make the child feel safe, loved and welcomed in their new home.
In addition to the above mentioned ways, foster parents should also be prepared to be patient and understanding with the child. Many foster parents report feeling overwhelmed or burnt out after a few months with their new Foster Child. Kids At Heart recognizes that, and that is why we offer bi-weekly respite opportunities. Our events are designed to give the foster children a supportive environment with other kids just like them. Our events
kidsatheartco.org
are also a time for the foster parents to take a much needed break. The parents can use Kids At Heart to help recharge their own battery, so they can continue fostering in a loving supportive way.
Foster children may have a hard time trusting new people, and it can take time for them to feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Foster parents should also be aware of the child’s needs and be prepared to provide the appropriate support and resources. And last but not least, fostering a child is a team effort and it is important that foster parents work with the child’s social worker to provide the best possible care for the child. With the right approach, fostering a child can be a life-changing experience for both the child and the foster parents.

Partners is celebrating 45 years of changing lives and shaping futures in Northern Colorado. Through youth mentoring, prevention education, and strategic partnerships, Partners empowers youth and community members to reach their full potential.
The organization had its biggest year ever in 2022—they served a record number of 830 youth with mentoring and prevention education programs. Since 2019, Partners has increased the number of youth served by 53%! This growth is only possible with the support of our community of volunteers, donors, sponsors who invest in the next generation.
The stories of Partners youth are varied, but all are impactful. There’s a partnership who worked together for over 8 years, culminating in the

mentor helping his first-generation college student mentee move into the dorms after guiding him through the admissions and scholarship process. There’s a school-based partnership that worked together for less than a year when the mentor helped prepare her mentee to audition for the school play—and she got the part! There’s the parents who have committed to learning more about the development of their children by attending caregiver classes. There’s the classroom of students who understand how to make mindful, healthy choices, after a Brainwise presentation. The effects of these successes ripple out into the community to make an even bigger impact.
2023 is a big year for Partners! They aim to serve 880 youth, helping

Northern Colorado Tree Service is a locally-owned tree care company specializing in hazardous removals, expert pruning, and first-class customer service. When owners James and Jackie Gosser started the business over five years ago, they had no idea it would be voted #1 tree service in Northern Colorado two years in a row. Motivated to spend more time together raising their young son, the Gosser’s approach to building their business was simple and effective –bring integrity, passion, and honesty to all they do.
James focuses his energies on operational and crew management, sales, and community outreach while
Jackie focuses on customer relations, office management, and marketing. The couple poured their hearts and souls into building a brand and team that truly represented who they are. Northern Colorado Tree Service values their community, customers, and crew, and it shows. Whether it’s taking extra time to educate customers, rescuing a family cat stuck in tree, doing charity tree work, or paying to further an employee’s education, the team makes sure to go above and beyond in order to exceed expectations.
Not only is Northern Colorado Tree Service passionate about all things tree-related, they are also passionate about giving back. As
the company continues to grow, the Gossers knew they wanted to give back to the community that has so enthusiastically embraced them. They first became aware of Realities For Children because Northern Colorado Tree Service had done storm damage tree work at the nonprofit’s Homebase. When given the opportunity to become RFC Business Members, the Gossers didn’t hesitate. What drew them to the organization was its core mission to support the needs of abused, neglected, abandoned or at-risk children in the local community. RFC’s impact is immediate, effective, and long-lasting. Northern Colorado Tree Service also supports RFC by sponsoring a table at the annual Gala, promoting RFC events, volunteering at the Rally & Ride and several of the holiday events, and encouraging others in the community to become involved in RFC. Most recently, Jackie was appointed an Ambassador position at RFC where she is more directly involved with promoting RFC’s mission.

Our Business Members enjoy many marketing benefits and networking opportunities in addition to knowing that they are having a direct impact on our community’s youth.

SPOTLIGHT BUSINESS MEMBER
give back in the community including volunteering, providing sponsorships, and fundraising events for charities.
During 2022 they hosted the first in a three part golf tournament, called the NoCO Tour de Golf, in partnership with Living Her Legacy and Hope Lives: The Lydia Dody Breast Cancer Support Center. Each round in the tournament is hosted at a different Norther Colorado golf course, owing to the name. Their efforts were incredibly successful, raising $6,500 for each charity, and creating new exposure to donors in the area. The third tournament in the series is being hosted by Living Her Legacy on May 19, 2023, at Mariana Butte in Loveland. Player and volunteer registrations are now open at https://bit.ly/LHLGolf2023 for that round. As a special treat, players in this tournament have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for one of two remaining Colorado Golf Getaways to Telluride or Durango.
Their philanthropic outreach extends beyond these golf tournaments, to their annual Food Drive for the Food Bank for Larimer County. Each fall they host a chili cook-off at Maxline Brewing in Fort Collins, where competitors have the chance to win incredible prizes, while raising non-perishable food donations. This event kicks off their annual food drive cycle, which has raised 1.5 tons of food since 2021! Sprague Roofing & Exteriors also part-
ners with organizations like Realities for Children, Habitat for Humanity, Fort Collins High School booster clubs, and remains an active participant in the Fort Collins and Windsor Chambers of Commerce.
If you’re looking for a local company who is trustworthy, has high integrity, and provides quality workmanship to support your home or business renovations, Sprague Roofing & Exteriors is the best choice in our area. They invite you to join their community on Facebook and Instagram, and to visit them online at spragueroofing.co!

AT A GLANCE
The 25th Annual NightLights presented by Blue Federal Credit Union held on December 1 was a huge success and we couldn’t have done it without You! A huge thank you to our Sponsors, Business Members, Guardians, Volunteers, Ambassadors and our Community for coming together to ensure the lives of children we we serve were a little brighter this year. Attendees witnessed the fantastic custom light show by Blazen Illuminations and performances by the Academy of Divabee. Santa even made a special appearance with Dude Dad to present
the 30lb chocolate Santa from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!
As a result of your tremendous support, dedication, and effort, we exceeded our goal of $350,000 and saw record attendance during the NightLights event held at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins.
Although we saw another year of increased need for services and healing support, thanks to your involvement, we were able to be there for our children when they needed us most. Your donation and support during our NightLights outreach has made all the difference
in helping us to reach further into the darkness, and to be a light for children in our community who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or are at-risk.
The 50’ tall tree illuminated in blue lights has been an iconic statement for 25 years bringing awareness to child abuse as blue is the national color symbolizing child abuse. A special thank you to Saunders and Heath Steel for their critical support with the build and teardown of the tree. We could not do this event without you!
