Throughout my six years at Reaseheath I was encouraged to develop my own ideas and further my knowledge, and I also began working at the dairy farm where I am now a manager and involved in technical upgrading and future planning. I’m keen to do research which is useful to farmers, so I studied antibiotic resistance to mastitis for my BSc dissertation and presented my findings at the British Undergraduate Research Conference. Studying for a Master’s degree along with managing the herd had its challenges, but I learned how to work independently at Reaseheath and that definitely helped. There are certainly plenty of different career avenues available to me in the future.”

We opened our cake and coffee shop in November 2021 and we’re loving the independence of creating our cake range and the buzz of seeing trade grow. We both ran successful online cake businesses while we were undergraduates, so we combine running our shop with meeting orders for pre-existing and new online customers. Forming a partnership and being able to share ideas really helps! The creative and business skills we gained at college and university gave us the confidence to take the project forward. The additional professional certificates we achieved have been essential, as has the advice on business registration, administration and marketing.”
