Alan Petrie

Final job title: Global General Manager “My career in agricultural engineering began 45 years ago as a Level 3 student and I’ve just retired after 27 years with JCB. My last post was that of Global General Manager (Field Service) which followed a posting as Aftermarket General Manager (Asia Pacific Region). I was based in Singapore to support the company’s clients throughout 18 countries from Japan to New Zealand, and I visited some amazing places.

George Halsall

Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Land Based Engineering 2020 School: Lakelands Academy, Ellesmere Next step: Apprenticeship with dealership Ambition: Agricultural engineer “I enjoy being ‘hands-on’ and understanding how heavy duty diesel engines work. I’ve been doing some serious work on a boat engine at a marina, which I was offered after my work experience.

“I chose Reaseheath because of its reputation as one of the best engineering colleges. We’ve worked on everything from conventional tractors to very high tech forage harvesters in our practical sessions, and the workshops and equipment are amazing. You’re taught to be independent and work things out for yourself, but the tutors are always ready to help.”
