Many of our students progress to paid or voluntary work or go on to further study programmes including Level 2 qualifications once they have gained the necessary entry requirements.

We run an annual inclusive careers event and you’ll receive plenty of sound advice to help you decide what your next steps should be. We also offer supported and unsupported employment opportunities to give you employability skills and on-the-job experience in the workplace.

Where you’ll be studying

We’ve made a continuing investment of £80 million across our campus so you’ll have access to some of the best facilities and learning resources in the country.

Our range of specialist facilities have been influenced by industry to make sure you develop the skills employers are looking for. You’ll learn to work to industry standards inside our advanced engineering (Agri-Tech) centre, equestrian centre, specialist teaching zoo and purpose-built farm barn, depending on which course you choose. Megan Wilson

Level 1 Animal Care 2020 School: Home schooled Next step: Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care Ambition: Animal conservationist “The thing I’ve most enjoyed about my Level 1 course has been learning about animal behaviour. I like watching the meerkats and otters in Reaseheath’s zoo and we have fun in the animal barn checking the enclosures, filling in stock sheets and carrying out health checks. I did my work experience at ‘Pets at Home’ and at an animal rescue centre, which were really interesting.

As a student in the Foundation Studies department many of your classes will take place in our dedicated Chaffinch building, with purpose-built classrooms, an IT suite and group study area. You’ll also be able to access Centrepoint, a dedicated study area above our library, which includes a reading zone and a new IT room with 18 fixed computers and laptops.

CAREER READY As a student with us, you will learn lots of skills you can use for your future career, and you’ll even be able to complete a work placement for extra experience.

“Although I’ve always wanted to work with animals I hadn’t thought about conservation until I came to college. I’d like to take this further because you can make a wider impact on animals’ lives.

“I’ve liked the routine of my Level 1 course and feel much more confident – I’m looking forward to moving up.”

Emma’s story

Emma Need Level 1 Animal Care 2018 Level 1 Career Development Pathway Programme 2019 School: Malbank School, Nantwich Next step: Apprenticeship or supported internship “Since I left Reaseheath I’ve been doing work experience with the Prince’s Trust, continuing to build up my confidence and getting ready to enter the world of work.

“I hope to get an animal based apprenticeship, perhaps at a pet shop or farm centre. The Career Development Pathway prepares you for employment and I feel quite confident. I also did work placements with Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Nantwich Food Bank and Sainsbury’s, which have been a big help.

“The best thing about both my courses is that you spend time outside doing practical activities. The tutors are very nice, it’s fun, you learn teamwork and you make good friends.” Your Reaseheath Experience

Our highly trained and dedicated staff will be on hand for you throughout your journey. Our team has much experience of helping young people with diverse needs, including those with disabilities. You’ll be learning inside a caring, nurturing environment with support available both inside and outside of the classroom.

You will gain all-important industry experience with trips to local businesses and benefit from presentations, talks and workshops with industry mentors.

This year our foundation students developed their employability skills whilst volunteering in a range of community projects working with agencies such as Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Erlas Victorian Walled Garden, National Trust’s Erddig, local food banks and The Wishing Well charity.

Students have also organised and run a variety of community events across college, raising over £600 and gaining useful enterprise skills to add to their CV. In the last three years, our students have raised over £3,000 towards college charities.
