Valley Arts Foundation Mission Statement

The Valley Arts Foundation supports the multiple interests of the Mad River Valley, Vermont by encouraging and promoting participation in the Arts. On the cover: Summer Afternoon Sun (detail), by Kathleen Kolb

Welcome to the 2015 Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition On behalf of the Valley Arts Foundation and our corporate partner, Lareau Farm, home of American Flatbread, I am pleased to welcome you to the 2015 Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition. From humble beginnings in 2012 with a show of only eight watercolor artists of the Vermont Watercolor Society, we are now presenting this magnificent exhibition of outstanding paintings by watercolorists from across the United States and Mexico. The Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition is the only summer exhibition of its type in New England. Autumn Maples, 19 x 25 With increased award offerings and extensive media coverage, we are making the transition from a regional to a major national show. Our continued growth is possible through our collaboration with Lareau Farm and its owner, George Schenk.

A special thank you needs to be extended to the jurors of selection, our judge of awards, our volunteers, and to those individuals and organizations who have so generously donated the awards. The 2015 Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition is yours to enjoy from the Valley Arts Foundation. Gary C. Eckhart President, Valley Arts Foundation Curator, Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition

Notes on the 2015 Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition Paintings by forty-seven artists were selected from the pool of artists submitting work. A few select artists had both of their paintings accepted by the three jurors. These 61 paintings are in addition to the paintings by our judge of awards, three jurors of acceptance, guest artist, and the curator. The Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition is open to any artist working in a water medium. Paintings must be created using a water-based medium remaining water soluble after dry. Paintings are juried by a panel of three artists holding membership in nationally recognized watercolor societies. The Exhibition is made possible by the numerous volunteers who prepared the exhibit space and installed the paintings, and by those who serve as docents throughout the four weeks the Exhibition is open to the public. While we encourage all sold works to remain in the Exhibition until its close, purchased works may be removed from the Exhibition. A quality digital print of the painting will be hung in place of the removed work. In 2015, the Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition received its first international entry.

She lives in Vermont. Burdened, 15 x 22

Lisa Forster Beach Juror of Acceptance Lisa Forster Beach is an award winning artist living in Stowe, Vermont. She is widely recognized for her drawings and watercolor paintings.
