RED BUTTE GARDEN PRESENTS

NATURE CONNECTS ART WITH LEGO® BRICKS

Featuring the art of Sean Kenney

June 2 - Sept. 16, 2018

CONNECTING HAS NEVER BEEN MORE IMPORTANT Please join us in presenting a garden exhibition that has thrilled audiences around the world. Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks is an award-winning exhibition by world-renowned artist Sean Kenney. Inspired by nature and built from more than 450,000 LEGO® pieces, this exhibition features 14 displays with sculptures that represent the incredible connections that sustain life on Earth. As every child knows, LEGO® bricks connect together to grow intricate, creative, and colorful constructions. Just as LEGO® bricks connect, so too is everything in nature interconnected to create a complex and amazing network with each piece relying on the others to grow and thrive. We welcome your help telling this story in an “edutaining” way. Red Butte Garden seeks sponsors to support an extraordinary exhibition for the young and young-at-heart of Wasatch Front. With an array of incredible LEGO®-themed events, programs, and activities scheduled from June 2 to September 16, 2018 there will be something new to keep garden guests coming back all summer long. Through this exhibition and its accompanying interpretive messaging, Garden guests will learn how they are personally connected to plants, how ecosystems rely on diversity, how plants rely on pollinators and how humans rely on the wonders of the natural world. Be involved with this unique exhibition! Records from other gardens that hosted Nature Connects report a minimum increase of 33% more guests over the previous year without the exhibition. This is a great opportunity to be associated with something positive for families and tourists throughout the summer. I look forward to discussing a potential partnership with you soon! Sincerely,

Wendy Loyning Development Director, Red Butte Garden 801-585-5658 2

BEHIND THE BLOCKS

Sean Kenney is an artist who loves to build, especially with LEGO®. Kenney is a renowned, award-winning artist and “professional kid” who uses LEGO® pieces to design and create contemporary sculpture for highprofile clients, major corporations, and venues around the globe for over 10 years. He authored eight best-selling inspirational children’s books about building creations with bricks and his awardwinning Nature Connects®, which we are proud to present. This exhibition has been breaking attendance records around the world since 2012. Kenney and his work have been prominently featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, PBS Arts, BBC Arts, NHK Japan, ABC World News, HGTV, ELLE, Wired, and countless more. He lives with his wife and two young children in Brooklyn, New York. His studio builds and ships the pieces to the Garden where we have worked for a year in advance to designate the best locations for the sculptures, preparing marketing materials and planning programming. Once the pieces are in place, our staff will maintain the plantings and place secure fencing and signage for each piece.
