Dear Parents and Caregivers, The school is well and truly back into the swing of things and routines are established and being settled into. For many it is hard to believe that next week we are going into our 5th week back since the summer holiday. The flow of a term has quite a calming effect on students as they get themselves into their individual personal routines that work for them. They are now more comfortable with their teachers and the expectations they have of them. They can now enjoy the term and year ahead safe in the knowledge that they are an integral part of the school and understand its workings. Despite COVID restrictions, we have pretty much got all activities back up and running and it is exciting to observe the many opportunities available beyond the classroom in which students can be involved. The Sport, Academy and Cultural programmes are up and running and if your child still wants to join in, please make contact with the school so that they can be pointed towards the appropriate person to get them started. study of MONA and visiting a number of other sites of cultural importance. In Asher Emdur’s words, our trip was “a little community of the coolest people, doing the coolest things, in the coolest place” See Sofia Weidler’s article on their experience later in this newsletter. The creative safe space in which students can explore, experiment and spend time widening their artistic horizons, created by Laurellen Symonds and Amy Bambach, is appreciated. The Year 12 Drama students attended Callback on Tuesday where they had the opportunity to see the best of the best Drama pieces from the NSW HSC Class of 2021 as selected by the examiners. Seeing what excellent performance looks like allows our students to calibrate their own ideas and performances against that standard. A great reality check as well as a confidence booster for our students. Valentine’s Day on Monday saw both campuses awash with red, pink, and white mufti. This is always a day enjoyed by the students and a real pity that the traditional Valentine's Dance could not be held again this year. Money raised from the gold coin donation is going to the Butterfly Foundation.
