Dear Parents and Caregivers, Today’s newsletter is the final one of Term 2 before the much anticipated winter holiday. This week has included some exciting activities for the Middle School students in between receiving their feedback from their Mid Year Examinations, while on the Bondi Campus exams continued and are to be completed today for Year 10 and Year 11 with Year 12 continuing to write for another week. This term Year 8 Drama students have also been working hard to devise their Mask Theatre performances for their Term Assessment. Students have undertaken a study of the Mask and Mime performance style this semester, learning how to master the techniques of mask, by first designing and making their own unique character masks. They were then taught how to engage their audience with these exaggerated characters and were placed in a variety of entertaining situations tackling obstacles for these characters to overcome. Groups have showcased their skills in the areas of teamwork and creativity demonstrating their growing confidence and creativity through performance. A superb effort from all of our Year 8 students.

On Wednesday the entire Year 8 cohort were engaged by Generation Entrepreneur partnered with Finder to run ‘Start-up 101’, a program which teaches students the basics of starting their own business ventures by exposing them to the entrepreneurial way of thinking. Students were introduced to the world of start-ups and key entrepreneurial concepts through hands-on experience.

During the day they formed and developed innovative solutions to problems they are passionate about and underwent the process of transforming these ideas into reality. They then pitched to a panel of judges with the winning teams moving on to compete against other schools. This program endeavours to help students realise their maximum potential through entrepreneurship and equip them with the fundamental skills required to drive a positive change in our world. The organisers were blown away by the standard of the pitches from our Year 8 students. Congratulations to the three winning teams, images page 1.

Construction and Interior Architecture selection ranks Bachelor of Construction Project Management Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture The published minimum selection rank for these two courses for the 2022 intake was unusually high as a result of the introduction of the Early Entry Program and special provisions for COVIDimpacted HSC cohorts. It is important to note that these were exceptional circumstances and the minimum selection ranks for the 2023 intake may vary significantly from 2022. The minimum selection ranks are reflective of the demand for that intake, and can differ year to year.

University of New England—Applications are now open UNE’s Early Entry has been running successfully for more than 30 years. Early Entry is open to all Year 12 applicants and relies solely on a school assessment of student attributes and abilities to determine their suitability for entry. The assessment is based around the student’s ability to work and learn independently, as well as their overall potential for academic success at UNE. Students can apply to UNE early, receive an offer and secure a place at university, even before ATARs are released. This gives students certainty to begin making other arrangements such as where to live and finding part-time work.

Save the date—Explore UC Day As you may know UC is in the works to bring you, the recently rebranded, Explore UC Days this September. The week-long event will give schools the opportunity to register for a full-day within the week of Monday 19th – Friday 23rd September, where students will then select from a suite of faculty workshops and campus activities for their own customised experience of what UC has to offer. While we eagerly wait to launch our registration pages and timetabling systems, we wanted to give you the opportunity to save the date, and garner interest from students you think would best benefit from a day at our campus. Invitations to register and outlines of what an Explore UC day will look like for your students will be sent out shortly, so please ensure you’re checking your spam, or let us know if you’re looking for more information. Benefits of a UAC application Applications for 2023 entry opened on 12 April for NSW, ACT and IB students. Applications for interstate students will open on 1 August 2022. We're sometimes asked about the benefits of applying through UAC, so here are a few points: - You can apply for multiple institutions with just one application. - You can apply for SRS early offers. - If you've experienced educational disadvantage during Years 11 and or 12, you can have that disadvantage considered

@REDDAM—The Reddam House High School Newsletter

through EAS. - You can change your preferences as many times as you like. - You can be considered for the most competitive courses, which generally aren't available via direct applications. Semester 1, 2023 courses are being added to the UAC application progressively. All courses will be available for selection by 1 August. To start their application, students will need their Year 12 student number (eg NESA or BSSS student number) and UAC PIN: NSW HSC and ACT BSSS students: Their UAC PIN was emailed to them on 12 April. Educational Access Scheme A reminder that students must apply for EAS and upload all documents by 22 November 2022 to ensure their application is considered in the first ATAR-based offer round on 22 December. If a student has applied for EAS and received an email from UAC about supplying documents, this is just a reminder. They can upload their supporting documents progressively, as they become available, but they must have them all uploaded by the 22 November deadline. Students will be notified of their EAS eligibility on 15 December and will then have until midnight on 16 December to finalise their course preferences. Schools Recommendation Scheme Over the past few months, we have had many students from Years 10 and 11 asking about early offers. Please advise all your students that they can only apply for SRS when they are in Year 12. We have also had many enquiries from students who are unable to lodge an SRS application. It is usually because the student hasn't submitted their UAC application yet. Students must submit a UAC application before they can submit an SRS application. Students must decide on the order of their course preferences by 3 November. The first SRS offers will then be released on 11 November.

ATTENTION YEAR 12 STUDENTS APPLYING TO THE UK VIA UCASPlease ensure you register for any examination that is required if you are applying to Oxford or Cambridge. You must also ensure you inform Ms Jones and Laura Dovier of this so we can register you to sit the examination at Reddam in November on the scheduled date.
