Dear Parents and Caregivers, Welcome back to Term 3 after what I hope was a wonderfully rejuvenating holiday. As you may have read in the paper, Inspired is seeking to open a second Reddam House in North Sydney. It is currently at the development approval stage and a fair amount of uncertainty remains, hence we are not making any formal announcements or taking enrolments. Once we have more certainty, formal announcements will be made.

for grabs. It was Reddam House Senior Choir who won this prestigious event, and was presented the shield by Mayor Jordan Lane, the Mayor of the City of Ryde. The adjudicator commented that their performance “captured the spirit of hope in our time” with their balanced parts, expressive phrasing, and meaningful dynamics. We are very proud of our students' hard work and achievements, and very much look forward to taking these talented young choristers to the Gold Coast in Week 4. More images on page 4.

The Art Department wants to share the exciting news that both Maya Gertler and Mia Klugman of Year 12 were selected to exhibit in the Sydney Children’s Hospital Annual art exhibition to bring some joy and colour to the hospital wards. They were the first school students to be offered an opportunity to be part of this exhibition and they have been working hard since the beginning of the year to complete 9 pieces as part of the “Earthly Critters” collection, which were due around the same time as their HSC major artworks. The artworks are for sale on the website below and any funds raised will be partially donated to the hospital. The art curator sent through some photos of the installation, which they cannot see in person, given they are in the ICU ward. Congratulations to both of them on putting their talents to work for such a good cause. https://www.schf.org.au/schf-in-action/programs-andinnovations/winter-art-2022

Close to 100 Reddam House Senior Choir students attended the Ryde Choral Eisteddfod this Thursday. This is the first time these choristers have competed in this eisteddfod, and were entered into two sections; The Rosalind Carlson Choral Championship, and the most prestigious event of the choral competition, the Ryde City Council Choral Award. Selected members of the Senior Choir were invited to compete in Reddam’s first ever Chamber Choir, and after a 3-week school break, and having had only one rehearsal without all members present, these talented choristers took home first place! Adjudicator Judith Malone commented on the choir’s superior quality, with skilful listening and diction, calling it a “first class performance”. Ten of our Year 10 students attended the Better World Youth Summit on Thursday to help design a ‘Child Friendly Australia’. The inaugural Summit created by UNICEF Australia, in partnership with the BUPA Foundation, was held at Taronga Zoo. Our students were part of a group of 120 young people invited to the Summit from secondary schools throughout Greater Sydney to participate in consultations on a child-centred planning framework to help councils and developers design healthier, more equitable, sustainable cities and communities for children and young people. I thank Mr le Roux for arranging this opportunity for our students to have their voices heard. Mr Ehrlich accompanied fifteen students to Case Junior Ocean School where they spent time in Brisbane and Cairns being involved in marine biology projects. Max and Memphis Rebelo were part of the Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra. This involved performing and They visited Stradbroke Island, Fitzroy Island, The Daintree practising five pieces Monday to Thursday at the Adeforest and the Great Barrier Reef before they had to prelaide Festival Centre, followed on Friday night by persent their STEAM expert presentations. The presentation in assembly today from these students showed how much they enjoyed this experience.

Pia Martin and Poppy O’Reilly took part in the U16 NSW Schools Surfing Championships held at Wollongong. They did extremely well finishing the team event in 4th place. They both have another 3 years in this event and will go from strength to strength. Great work. Other wonderful student achievements during the holiday included: Gabriel Stafford received his gold Duke of Edinburgh badge last month, having completed the requirements for the award in May. Jazz Spira has been selected as one of only 4 show jumping horse and rider combinations to represent NSW in the Equestrian Interschools Nationals to take place at the end of September in Sydney. She is very excited about this opportunity. She also has ambitions to make it into the Junior team at the Australian Championships in November.
