The Year 12s continue writing their Trial HSC Examinations at The Church on the Marketplace, which is where they will write their Final Examinations in six weeks time. A great rehearsal for the real deal. Over the past few weeks, many of the performing arts students have had their major practical component of their HSC examined by the NESA markers and it is with great pleasure that I can announce that I have been notified of the HSC Dance Callback nominations. These nominations are awarded to the best of the best in NSW for the various elements of Dance as judged by these Congratulationsexaminers.

to Audrey Dumer Zenou for three nominations in Core Performance, Core Composition, and Major Study Performance. Kim Zhan was awarded two nominations for Core Composition, and Major Study Performance. Congratulations to these students and to Ms Knight and Mrs Collier Walsh. It is a real pleasure to announce that Aiza Khurram of Year 12 has been selected to receive a Highly Commended Certificate for the 2022 NCW NSW Dame Marie Bashir Peace Awards. The selection panel had commented that, “as always it was a difficult task to select recipients from a large number of very worthy applicants. However, this year six students have been selected to receive Awards and four to receive Highly Commended Certificates. All selected students have shown exceptional qualities of leadership in their contributions to harmony and justice.”

Resultingweek.

The Awards Presentation Ceremony will be held on Monday, 26th September 2022, at State Parliament House. Congratulations Aiza for all your hard work within the community.

Our full programme of Studio Recitals has continued this week with excellent representation across many different instruments. Students have prepared so well to perform for their families and friends, and the feedback from our audiences has been so gracious and appreciative. We are very proud of all our students for presenting their work in this way. This week began with three recitals on Sunday: Mr Philip Barton (voice and piano), Ms Philippa Revis (piano) and Mr Tobias Dracoulis and Mr Adrian Bendt (guitar and violin/viola). On Tuesday evening, Mr O'Mahony and Ms Ngu presented their piano students. Thursday evening was a string extravaganza, featuring violin, viola and cello students of Ms Julie Cheng, Ms Dominique Guerbois and Ms Julienne Guerbois. We look forward to a vibrant final week of recitals next week. Please enjoy the selection of photos included here.

Our general advice to all students who receive an offer in September is to ACCEPT all parts of their offer, including any accommodation and scholarship offers. Students have until Wednesday 5 October to accept their offers. Accepting their September offer ensures it will be waiting for the student at the end of the year; students will be able to make their ultimate decisions (including accepting, enrolling or deferring) when final confirmations are made in December/January. UNE’s Early Entry has been running successfully for more than 30 years. Early Entry is open to all Year 12 applicants and relies solely on a school assessment of student attributes and abilities to determine their suitability for entry. The assessment is based around the student’s ability to work and learn independently, as well as their overall potential for academic success at UNE.

Students can apply to UNE early, receive an offer and secure a place at university, even before ATARs are released. This gives students certainty to begin making other arrangements such as where to live and finding part time work.
