Dear Parents and Caregivers,

The school year is drawing to a close, and with it, Yearly Examinations were completed today for Middle School students, with Years 10 and 12 still in the midst of their final assessments for the year.

I would like to congratulate the Middle School students on their approach to their preparations for this major challenge. The next step in the process is to get feedback from teachers, which is not about just receiving the mark but rather seeing areas that could be improved. My challenge to students would be that following the feedback session, if they could now get 100% for that assessment, then the process and learning outcomes have been worthwhile and successful. Next week school goes back to normal timetabled lessons for that process, with the day ending at 3:30 pm.

Great news from NESA this week is that three of our HSC 2022 students have now been selected for inclusion in the ArtExpress showcase season next year. They are:

Next week the annual Reddam House Public Speaking Competition is being held on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm on Levels 3 and 4 at Woollahra. All parents, family and friends are invited to come and listen to the best of the best speeches delivered this year during Public Speaking lessons. Congratulations to the following students on making the finals of this hotly contested event:

Year 7 students: Jeremy Bishay, Emma Bradburn, Jamie Bloom, Katerina Burazer, Ella Clark-Smith, Lucia Flanagan, Sophia Glass, Noah Gottlieb, Nevin Hemachandra, Nisha Katdare, Tahlia McMaster, Sylvie Pasvolsky, Lulu Peacock, Portia Schebesta, and Bella Swill.

Year 8 students: Hugo Nicolau Borde Bergeret, Zac Chilman, Georgie Corish, Sonny Cyron, Sam Dubossarsky, Maya Hatzvi, Jethro Jensen, Darcey Keen, Oscar Lim, Neve McNamara, Lyra Mesimeris, Ari Smaller, and Isla Zavos

With the textbook lists going out to parents from Campion Books, it is worth reminding parents that there are opportunities to buy and sell second hand textbooks. The Uniform Exchange is a popular community based buy and sell website, much like gumtree. Please be cautious of buying old editions as the curriculum in certain subjects has changed over the past few years. Here is the Web address: http://theuniformexchange.com.au/

the “Share the Dignity Charity” drive. It has been very successful with donated bags quickly filling up the Bunnings collection point. My appreciation and thanks to Fellicia Tjen, Aaliyah Ibrahim, Paige Kemeny, and Brighty Stokes for this worthwhile initiative.

Congratulations to Ivy Hinksman who as the Junior Club Captain of the Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club, looks after a group of Under 7 Nippers on Sunday mornings. Having taken on this role as a Year 9 student comes with a massive responsibility and is such a wonderful way to contribute to the welfare of the younger kids and her local community. What a selfless but rewarding activity Ivy, well done.

Another positive is the site meeting we had this week for the Bondi Campus renovations. The demolition work will be complete this week and they have advised they are on track for the deadline. All in all, things are going very well.

Have a wonderful weekend and week ahead, Dave Pitcairn
