Middle School Leadership 2022
REDDAM HOUSE SYDNEY
YEAR 9 LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME At Reddam we believe that all students have the potential of being a leader. Part of the challenge in life is to find the area of leadership in each individual and develop those skills to their optimum. Leadership skills are therefore identified and developed in all students. The students do however democratically elect a leadership Executive and Judiciary. The weekly assemblies and community support and charity programs are organised and run by the student Judiciary and Executive. All students in Year 9 also take part in fortnightly Leadership lessons to enhance their skills as a leader, including developing effective communication skills and learning how to lead others with integrity. There are 3 judiciary members who are the figureheads and representatives of the school. There are 22 students elected to the executive including the Judiciary. They head up various portfolios where all Year 9 students are involved. The Executive and Judiciary speak for and represent the student body on any issues of concern or interest. They promote communication and interaction between students and staff and they create an environment where all students feel welcome and comfortable to express their individuality.

Students within this portfolio meet regularly to discuss fundraising initiatives and reinforce our school motto “ We Shall Give Back” by raising awareness about school nominated charities. Charity work involves running Mufti Days, Bake Sales, and supporting the schools’ International Community Service Trip to Eswatini & Mozambique. The committee plays a vital role in helping Reddam raise money for the less fortunate in our local and wider community.
TECHNOLOGY Staff: Brendan O’Mahoney Head of Portfolio: Jamie Levitt

This portfolio allows students an opportunity to be involved in a various number of school events including Open Day, Scholarship Day and School Carnivals. Students who enjoy public speaking, meeting and greeting members of the wider community and being true ambassadors for Reddam fill this portfolio. They work as a team to ensure that an event runs to plan, and that they troubleshoot problems as they arise. They gain skills in team work and communication in order to coordinate successful events.
ENVIRONMENT Staff: Sonia von der Heidt Head of Portfolio: Ivy Hincksman
Ivy Hincksman

Margot Bakerman The LGBTQIA+ Portfolio is a safe space for students who identify as a part of - or are passionate allies of - the LGBTQIA+ community. They meet regularly to debate current topics, discuss their own experiences of gender and sexuality, and brainstorm ways to raise awareness and assist with movements towards equality, education, and inclusion within the Reddam school community, and in our wider society. Previously, they have run fundraisers for LGBTQIA+ charities and organisations, and have helped to coordinate events to commemorate, educate and raise awareness of important dates such as Mardi Gras, Trans Day of Remembrance, and Pride Month.
FIRST NATIONS Staff: Guy Wallace Head of Portfolio: Noa-Rose Golan-Ende
Noa-Rose Golan-Ende This new portfolio creates connections between Australia’s First Nations and the community of Reddam House. Members of the portfolio look forward to increasing the awareness and acknowledgment of First Nations peoples through service (such as fundraising drives) and education (including guest speakers and artists). Students involved in the portfolio are committed to engaging First Nations peoples to ensure the portfolio undertakes its endeavors in a respectful and authentic manner.
WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT Staff: Melanie Pelosi Head of Portfolio: Elise Katholos
Elise Katholos
This is a new portfolio that meets to discuss the issues facing women around the world in regards to gender equity. By highlighting these issues within the Middle School, it is hoped that our students promote womens’ sense of self-worth, their ability to determine their own choices, and their right to influence social change for themselves and others. They may have the opportunity to redefine gender roles or other such roles, which in turn may allow them more freedom to pursue desired goals.
