Welcome to Term 1

2022 Calendar
Dear Parents and Caregivers, The staff and I are thrilled to welcome you back to what we trust will be an exciting and truly fulfilling year. We hope that you had a restful break, with many moments of happiness shared with family and friends. The enthusiastic chatter which filled the corridors today certainly seemed to indicate a school full of students who were well rested and keen to see their friends and teachers again. We extend a particularly warm welcome to those students – and their families – who join us for the first time. While we know that change can sometimes be daunting, we trust that you received a warm welcome and that you will soon feel part of the Reddam House family. We look forward to getting to know you better in the coming weeks and months and encourage you to involve yourself in the richly textured life of the school. After the disruptions of the previous years, we hope that this year will bring a return to normality and that all aspects of the school will once again flourish. While the past couple of years have seen the students excel despite the challenges, what they have undoubtedly missed has been the camaraderie of team sports, the sense of satisfaction which comes from learning new skills in cultural activities, and the possibility of being involved in outreach activities. In addition to the rigorous and thought-provoking academic programme, we also look forward to returning to our comprehensive calendar of excursions and incursions, which have been severely curtailed in recent times. Obviously, we will only introduce these as and when we are able to do so, but we really do look forward to extending the students through these most worthwhile activities. A wise man once said, “And suddenly you know: It's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.” Now, as we stand at the start of a new year, we all have the opportunity to embrace the The Reddam House Primary School Newsletter

year, we all have the opportunity to embrace the “magic of beginnings”. The year lies before us, waiting to be written into each of our lives. What we make of it is entirely up to us, and how we reflect on it as we look back in eleven months will depend on what we have invested in it. I encourage all our students to grasp the many opportunities on offer. Whether in their academics, cultural or sporting pursuits, they have so many activities on offer here at Reddam. I hope that they will not only work hard on those activities in which they already excel but that they will also step out of their comfort zones and try something new. The “magic of beginnings” inevitably brings with it the need to take that first brave step beyond the fear of failure. But just as inevitably it also makes of our lives a rich and colourful tapestry, which we will never regret. Congratulations to Eva Herson and Micah Shields who during the holidays competed in the Under 12s Water Polo Competition. The competition was held over three days, with the girls playing numerous games a day and contributing to the success of their team. Micah then went on to compete in the Under 14s State Festival, being one of the youngest in the team. Congratulations Micah and Eva. Please also follow this link to access our online Uniform Shop. Enjoy the weekend and have a great term! Dee Pitcairn Principal
